And by consistency, I'm not really talking about posting frequently, which is important, but I'm talking about aligning with your brand voice and visual identity across every piece of content. This alignment helps you reinforce your brand message, making it recognizable and trustworthy. This starts with visual identity.

Elements like colors, fonts, and logos can help you create a cohesive and instantly recognizable look. For example, by choosing a color palette that aligns with your brand's values and personality, you can differentiate yourself and promote instant recognition with your followers. And when it comes to branding, less is more.

If you stick with two to three colors max and two fonts max, the more clear and the more memorable you'll be. And I don't think anybody I've ever interviewed is more memorable than the marketing and paid ads king, Rudy Moore. See if you can tell why.

I'll also share insights on how to maintain authenticity in everything you create, as well as some practical ways that you can nurture both trust and authenticity over time. You'll get a ton of actionable advice and I'll even sprinkle in some great tips from previous Yap guests to bring these concepts to life.

What has that done for your brands? How do you feel like it's impacted your brand?

Yeah, I mean, I think the key thing is that you're memorable, right? There's so many other influencers out there. And you do have the knowledge to back it up and the credentials to back it up. But the red just makes it memorable and makes you stand out. Whereas other people might have to be seen 10 times to be remembered. Maybe just once is all you need to be remembered.

Rudy's story perfectly highlights the power of bold, consistent branding and making a lasting impression. His commitment to a signature red theme ensures his brand is instantly recognizable and memorable, cutting through the noise in a crowded space. In addition to visual identity, a strong brand voice is key for forming meaningful connections with your audience.

Your brand should not only represent who you are, but also reflect and mirror the qualities and interests of your audience. And that's because people connect with those who are similar to them. People like people who are like themselves. A strong brand voice means consistent core messages.

Building trust online is crucial, especially when you don't interact with your audience face-to-face. In a digital world, trust transforms casual followers into loyal supporters and eventually customers. But how do you establish that trust from behind a screen? The first step is to get personal. That means being open about meaningful details from your life.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha

Choose a few messages that you repeat in different forms over and over again so that your audience remembers what you stand for and how you can transform and improve their lives. For example, I have core messages that I repeat over and over again. I remind my audience that you're never too young or too old to learn something new and that if a gatekeeper tells you no, find another path.

These are messages that resonate deeply with them because it reflects their own values of resilience, growth, and empowerment. By weaving in these messages into my content consistently, whether it be through interviews, stories, or videos, I help my audience know what to expect from me and I reinforce the value proposition that I have for them.

Someone else with a super consistent brand is Gary Vaynerchuk, aka Gary V. He told me that consistent branding requires more than just an effective message. It means knowing exactly who you're targeting with that message. Speaking of niches, let's talk about creating audiences. Because like you just talked about, we can talk about multiple topics. We don't have to be scared about that.

There you go, folks. As Gary puts it so well, you have to be in every room. To have an effective brand message today, you've got to be relevant. You need to know your audience and every cohort and segment within that audience. But where do you start? How do you identify the audiences that your brand will resonate with most? Well, sometimes it's as simple as focusing on one very important person.

A powerful strategy for building a loyal community is creating content with a single person in mind, your ideal audience member. By focusing on one person, you can transform your content from simple broadcasts into genuine personal connections.

As Jasmine shared, when you speak to one person, you make every follower feel like they're part of something personal and valuable. This approach allows you to move beyond surface level engagement and build deep connections that resonate on a community level. To add even more value, think about ways to create touch points with your audience that go beyond the usual interactions.

In the last section of this episode, we talked about creating content that resonates with a specific audience. Now let's take it a step further, monetizing those relationships authentically. But this isn't selling for the sake of selling. It's about listening to your audience, understanding their needs, and creating products or services that genuinely serve them.

This is where the creator economy has totally changed the game. As Harley Finkelstein, the president of Shopify, told me, creator entrepreneurs have a unique advantage. They're not starting with a product and then searching for customers. Instead, they're building engaged audiences first and then developing products that align directly with their community's interests.

Harley shared some great insights on how brands, both big and small, are leveraging personalization to connect with their audiences. Even major companies like Hanes and Oreo are creating customized products and engaging more directly with their consumers. But this approach isn't just for big brands.

Like Harley said, brands that connect with their audience on a personal level can build something much more impactful than just a business transaction. By focusing on what their community truly values, creators can launch products that feel like a natural extension of their brand, fostering loyalty and long-term engagement.

Rory talks about how trust comes from familiarity. People trust those that they feel that they know, whether that's through personal stories, inspiration, or education. His three E's framework, educate, encourage, and entertain, is a simple yet powerful way to build genuine relationships online. But how can we take this trust building to the next level?

Hey, young Improfiters, you're listening to episode two of the Yap Creator series presented by Opus Clip. In this series, we'll dive deep into the art and science of content creation. We'll unpack the secrets of capturing attention and the psychology that fuels audience connection. Today, we're going to talk about two foundational pillars for success in content creation, trust and authenticity.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
As Sean highlights, video gives your audience a chance to know you behind written or audio content. With repeated exposure across platforms, your audience builds familiarity and confidence in your brand, setting the stage for deeper engagement. We talked about trust. Now let's move on to authenticity.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
One of the best ways to appear authentic is to embrace what makes you unique by incorporating your own interests and quirks You're bringing more than just a polished image to your brand. You're showing the real person behind it. Kat Norton, aka Miss Excel, is a perfect example of how authenticity and unique interests can make content stand out.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
With over 1.1 million followers on Instagram and 2.3 million followers on TikTok, Kat has mastered the art of capturing attention. She told me how combining her distinctive passions for dancing and Microsoft Excel created an unexpected level of engagement from her audience.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
And I want to laser in on something you said, and we'll go deeper on it later. But you talked about polarity. So the fact that you combined two things that are really uncommon together, dance and Excel. It gets people talking. It gets people like complaining. Why are you dancing talking about Excel? Or some people will love it.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
And it gets people talking, which really drives everything up in the algorithm. Do you have anything else to say about polarity and how important it is for social media?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
Let me tell you, these two elements can make or break your connection with your audience. Trust is the foundation of any strong brand. And authenticity is the glue that holds it all together. The force that keeps people coming back for more. In today's episode, we're diving deep into why trust is essential to building a loyal community.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
As Kat Norton points out here, combining contrasting elements in a genuine way, what she calls polarity, can drive engagement and deepen connections. It's a reminder that showing up authentically may involve quirks or unique passions, even if they seem unconventional. When people see those real, unfiltered sides of you, they're drawn into the person behind the brand, not just the content.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
Okay, speaking of drawing audiences, audiences today crave authenticity. They wanna connect with somebody who feels real and relatable, not just some polished, perfect version of you. So don't shy away from sharing the ups and the downs. True engagement comes when you share your failures, your setbacks, your lessons in progress.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
These raw, unpolished moments build authenticity and foster deeper connections with your followers, making them feel like they're part of your growth story. At Yap and on my personal profiles, we blend polished visuals with everyday moments. So for example, one day I might put up a photo from a photo shoot that was professionally shot. And the next day might be a selfie that I shot myself.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
And tools like Opusclip make it incredibly easy to create these authentic moments on video. So for example, you can set up a tripod in your house to take B-roll of your day-to-day activities. So think cooking, cleaning, taking meetings, working on the computer, whatever it is, you want to take this B-roll footage.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
Then you can upload that into Opus Clip and it will pick out the most exciting, actionable parts of the videos and you can ask it to turn it into a day-in-the-life montage video. It can create multiple video clips for you like this, and then you have real behind the scenes glimpses of your life that helps your audience feel like they're truly getting to know you.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPCreator: Turn Your Followers Into Superfans With Trust and Authenticity | Presented by OpusClip | E322
So we've talked about sharing personal details, the power of video, and not being afraid to be our unique and authentic selves, even if that means leaning into being imperfect and unpolished. Another aspect of building trust with your audience and establishing authenticity is consistency.

It makes a lot of sense. And it makes sense that you can nudge them to go the other direction if you didn't do a great job from zero to one. Because let's face it, a lot of people probably missed that and didn't know. And there's so much information out there, it's hard to know what's the right thing to do. So I feel like a lot of my past relationships have been repeats of my first relationship.

In high school, I had this crazy boyfriend who was controlling and we'd fight a lot. And it was this really energetic relationship. And then I found myself in college repeating the same relationship. And then I had a really long 10-year relationship that was basically a repeat of that high school relationship, right?

Oh, yeah, 100%. As you're saying that, I'm like, oh, it's because my parents were strict Arabic parents that controlled me when I was younger. You know what I'm saying? So they would always try to control me. You can't do this. You can't do that. You can't go to camp. You can't do this. are the main challenges for entrepreneurs when it comes to dating?

Sabrina Zohar: Thrive in Love and Business, A Masterclass on Dating and Relationships for Entrepreneurs | E324
Okay, I wanna go deep on this. I'm in this game right now, you know? I'm in the game. So I was with somebody for 10 years and I missed the whole online dating thing. And so when I got into online dating, I didn't even know how to swipe right, left. I didn't know what I was doing. And at first it was really exciting and now it's become like I'm burnt out from it.

So like my experience when I first started versus being on the apps for a while has changed very drastically. Right now, when I go on the apps, sometimes I feel like it's so vain. I'm like, oh, this guy's not smiling. His teeth are probably busted. Next, you know, oh, this guy is 5'9". I can only do 5'10 and higher. Next, you know? And so I'm just so ruthless.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
Sabrina Zohar: Thrive in Love and Business, A Masterclass on Dating and Relationships for Entrepreneurs | E324
And I feel like in person, if somebody 5'9 came up to me and he was cute and great and successful, I'd give him a chance. But because it's the app, I'm like, oh, you know, I'd rather have 5'10", right? So talk to us about that. How can we get out of this situation vanity cycle that we're in on the apps where it's just a looks contest and checking all these criteria that really don't matter. Okay.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
Sabrina Zohar: Thrive in Love and Business, A Masterclass on Dating and Relationships for Entrepreneurs | E324
I think that makes a lot of sense, but I think I'm in a different situation. I'm only five foot. Right. And I but all the past guys that I've dated are six, three, six foot over six foot tall. And so I feel like it's actually ridiculous for me to have some sort of height requirement. So in general, I guess, does that just mean I'm too picky? Like, what are your thoughts about that?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
Sabrina Zohar: Thrive in Love and Business, A Masterclass on Dating and Relationships for Entrepreneurs | E324
I mean, my dad wasn't really tall. I think it has to do with my first boyfriends were all very tall. I'm just used to it. And I sort of have like Napoleon syndrome where with heels on 5'4", 5'5", but I'm a very outgoing person. I feel 5'9", 5'10". And when I'm with somebody, even my girlfriends that are tall, I feel just as tall as them. Like I don't feel shorter than them.

As I've been dating, you know, I've got a big company. I have 60 employees. It's so much time to like go through all these matches, to have all these conversations, to then go on a first date and maybe a second date. How do we prioritize our time better? How do you suggest that we manage time? going through our matches?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
Sabrina Zohar: Thrive in Love and Business, A Masterclass on Dating and Relationships for Entrepreneurs | E324
How do you suggest that we spend time getting to know people and just making sure that we're not wasting our time? Because sometimes I'm on a first date and in the first 20 minutes, I'm like, why the hell did I do this? Like I knew in my gut, I shouldn't have come on this date, you know, and I regret it. So talk to us about that.

Have a good day. So I made up a rule for myself because I'm really busy and I found myself going on like four dates in a week and it just felt really not great. And I was getting burnt out. And so I was like, okay, I have a new rule. First dates, I'll only do on Fridays or Saturdays. which means that they have to want to go out on a Friday and Saturday and reserve those days for me.

We'll be right back after a quick break from our sponsors. I wanna talk about trends for a bit. And ghosting is something that's really interesting, something that happens a lot. I know that it's difficult for entrepreneurs because we've got this whole other relationship that we're in, which is our business. And it's really hard to just balance work life and relationships. I think for entrepreneurs in general, just finding time for relationships is really difficult.

And so often our personal lives suffer as we pursue our work lives 24-7. Still, there's plenty of hope for us yet. We can strive to find the right balance and to better understand ourselves, our needs, our attachment styles, and the boundaries we need to set. And hopefully we will find a partner who can work within those same parameters.

We just need to be as flexible and as understanding as we can. And most of all, make sure that we constantly communicate. Sabrina also helped me understand how I can better navigate the crazy world of online dating, which I've only recently been starting to experience. Like Sabrina said, a dating app is just a tool, and like the internet or any piece of technology, it's only as useful as you make it. We all have agency and control and we can learn to be better buyers when it comes to the dating market.

In fact, we entrepreneurs should be a lot better at vetting prospects, weighing pros and cons and making informed decisions than the average person on a dating app. So be smart about it, just like you would if you were hiring somebody for your company.

Save yourself some time by doing some early compatibility checks, whether that's a quick coffee date, a video call, or a direct question like, how did your last relationship end? And what did it teach you about yourself? Finally, be kind to yourself. Take a break from dating if you need to. Set boundaries that protect your own mental health. Don't be afraid to pivot or change course.

A lot of people don't realize that when you start a popular social media account, you're really in the business of audiences. It's not really about what you sell. It's about what your audience wants. Totally. Okay. So you, like I mentioned, you have this famous framework. It's called Champions Blueprint. It has many steps. So we're not going to be able to cover all the steps in detail, but I am going to highlight some of my key takeaways, some of your key principles. And it's broken down into two parts, which you sort of alluded to preparation and performance. You talked about the golden rule.

YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah. Okay. So in terms of the preparation section of your blueprint framework, the first step is to clarify goals that align with your body, mind, and soul. So I thought this was super interesting and unique because I've never heard anyone bring in the soul and spirituality when it comes to goals. And I talk about goals all the time on the podcast. So let's start there.

YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
So maybe you can walk us through examples of what a good goal is versus one that's not so clear.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
So take us back to your teenage years. What were you like? How did you stay on track with your lofty goal? And what inspiring stories can you share about accomplishing your Olympic goals?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah, and previously, Jeff, you were mentioning how you need to have peripheral vision. You need to be aware of your surroundings. You need to be aware of the different risks that are going on. So talk to us about the importance of knowing the risks or potential blind spots associated with our goals.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah. And it's interesting that you say that because like you said, some people think that they can only think positive. And if they go and think about the different ways that things could go wrong, they think that that's negative thinking. But that's really just preparing. And it doesn't mean that you are a negative thinker. It just means that you're preparing ahead and you...
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
can be positive because you're thinking of the solutions ahead of time so that if you hit that obstacle in the moment, you'll know what to do. Can you talk to us more about that, about what kind of mindset you need to have through all of this and how, you know, thinking of potential risk is not actually negative thinking?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah. So as we're trying to determine all the different risks with our goals, what are the questions that we should ask ourselves or ask our mentors in order to find out what those risks could possibly be?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah, so we're talking a lot about being prepared. And let's say we do all the things that you mentioned. We have really clear goals. We take a look at the different risks and the blind spots, and we feel very prepared.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
What are the ways that some people blow it in their big moment, in that moment of reality where they should have done what they prepared for, but maybe they go with their gut instinct or something?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah. And I have to say, every time I deviate from my plan, I screw up too. Like, it's normal. You know what I mean? Like, I did it a few times already on this podcast where I'm like, why didn't I just stick to what I wrote, right? But that's how it goes. And you live and you learn. So let's talk about legacy. Legacy is really important.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
And a lot of people think that legacy is something that happens after you die. And it's just like, however your life turned out, that's your legacy. But you say that you should think about your legacy from the start. Talk to us about why that's important.

We'll be right back after a quick break from our sponsors. Guys, I've been telling you about Rakuten for a while. Rakuten is the best way to shop online because it lets you get cash back on the purchases you were already gonna make. Hopefully you've all signed up to Rakuten by now, but if you haven't yet, let the holiday season be your reason.

Rakuten is especially useful over the holiday season because you can stack up on holiday sales and deals on top of cashback to maximize your savings at over 3,500 stores. And the stores will be at their highest cashback rates of the year, all the way up to 15% cashback at some of your favorite brands throughout the holiday season.

So let's move on to the last step in preparation, which is around resources. I think this is very important, often kind of neglected. So what should we consider when we think about resources?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
And aside from the obvious stuff like money.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah, and I feel like most people, especially young people, they concentrate more on getting like investment and money rather than focusing on building their skills and learning. I've noticed this a lot with people around my age and younger. So do you wanna talk about the importance of getting skills before you start your task?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
I love this conversation. We're getting so many good tips around how we can prepare for our goals, but I want to talk about what happens when we actually start taking action. You've got phases like the honeymoon phase and the daily grind phase, which you mentioned earlier. Can you talk to us about the different stages of performance and what we need to know?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah. So something that I want to touch on is the fact that you grew up pretty poor and that must have been difficult when you were trying to accomplish this goal, because I could imagine that it costs money to fly places. It costs money to stay at hotels if you're competing. So talk to us about how you kind of scrapped through, even though you didn't have the financial means.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Can you give a concrete example of that just to be super clear?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
This is great. I have a question for you. Do you think that every goal is possible? Or do you think that there are some signs that should be like abort mission, you know, you should stop, you should quit? Or do you feel like anything is possible with the right preparation and plan?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah. So I read that you actually had two mentors when you were growing up. So the first one was your cycling mentor, and he helped you become an Olympian. And you also had a second mentor, which was sort of like a renaissance man that you met when you were 18. So tell us about the later mentor that you met who was more of a renaissance man and what he taught you.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
That was exactly what I hoped you were going to kind of go off on because I feel like people are so attached to like that one outcome. Like I want to be a famous NBA player and so few people achieve that goal, but really maybe they just want to be somebody who inspires other people of their ethnicity or something. And it's really not about playing basketball.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
It's the impact that they're making on the world.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
That is super inspiring, Dr. Spencer. This whole conversation has been amazing. So I'm going to wrap the interview up with a couple of questions that I ask all my guests, and then we do something fun at the end of the year with them. So the first one is, what is one actionable thing that my young and profiters can do today to be more profiting tomorrow?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Okay. And what is your secret to profiting in life?

YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah, well, that's super inspiring. So today you are one of the most prominent mentors in the world. So you've coached greats like Tiger Woods, Richard Branson, and you've been lovingly dubbed the corner man. So I'd love to understand how you got that name and tell us a bit about the work that you do with your clients.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Would you like to hear more about how big names like Tiger Woods, Oprah Winfrey, and Richard Branson achieve their goals? Well, lucky for you, I had an epic conversation about this back in episode 179 with Dr. Jeff Spencer, one of the world's leading experts on elite performance.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Hmm. I love that. I love that nickname. And so you were really big at like coaching sports people, I think at first, and then you moved into business. I guess my question is, what is the crossover between what you learned as an Olympian and business, which is what you focus on a lot now?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah. So one of the questions that I have for you is, do you look for certain qualities in your clients? Like you were just mentioning how you were a self-starter since you were young. I am the same way. You know, there's different personality types. There's people that need like accountability and there's people who can self-start.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah, I totally agree. So I want to switch gears a bit. I read that your dad was a genius that died homeless on the streets of New York City. And the last time you ever saw him was when you were 13 years old. So you guys obviously had a totally different type of life and made different decisions and choices.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
So talk to us about your father and what example that he like, what did you learn from his story? And how did you then apply that in your life?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Jeff is a former Olympic cyclist and a life coach whose nickname is the Corner Man because he's well known for working with famous athletes, leaders, and CEOs to level up their performance. Jeff likes to say that success is not just about talent. It is both a path and a process. And there are patterns and steps that all successful people take.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
Yeah, I love this. This is such a great transition into your champion's blueprint. So I want to read a quote that really parlays well into what you just said. So you've said in the past that success doesn't come from will, talent, or tactics. The winners know something that everyone else doesn't. They've discovered that success is both a path and a process.
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
So I thought this would be a great place to start. Why is success both a path and a process?
Young and Profiting (YAP) with Hala Taha
YAPClassic: Dr. Jeff Spencer, Ultimate Goal Setting to Win Big
In this episode, Jeff and I talk about his framework, the champion's blueprint, and how you can learn to hyper-focus on your goals and get better at identifying your blind spots. and how elite preparation can help you win before you even start. So pull up a chair, hop on that treadmill, or just kick back and get ready to unlock your inner champion with Dr. Jeff Spencer.

The more that you scale your business, when you first start as an entrepreneur, you're more hands-on because you're starting the business from scratch. You're involved in everything. But then as you hire and scale and hire and scale and hire and scale, you naturally start to just get more strategic and less hands-on. So how can we actually lead by example as our company scales?

If you don't, you're hurting three groups of people, that employee who you will never promote, the people who work with them and who know that that person can't do their job and so it brings them down, and finally, yourself and your company because their continued presence at your company shows you that you don't have the courage to make a tough decision and that will definitely impact your confidence.

After all, leadership, as Dave put it, is really the impact that you have on others. It's not about getting everything that you want. It's about creating an environment in which others can achieve what they want. Thanks for listening to this episode of Young and Profiting.

Oh, I love that story. And I love to hear how you were able to create a successful business with your partner. And I love to hear that it actually started as a business relationship and evolved into something more fulfilling and romantic. So I'm going to get to hiring later on in the interview. But first, I want to focus on your leadership management style.

When you first started at Remax, how were you as a leader compared to how you are as a leader now?

What's your advice to leaders to get better at receiving feedback, no matter who it's from?

Feedback is so important. And maybe we can start here when we're thinking about leadership and principles and things like that. I'm an entrepreneur. I have 60 employees. And I can easily take feedback from the closest people that work with me.

But it's really hard for me to hear feedback from other employees that don't work directly with me because I feel like they don't understand how hard I'm working and everything going on behind the scenes. What's your advice to leaders to get better at receiving feedback, no matter who it's from?

I totally agree. I'm happy you gave me that advice because that's what I told my confidants. I had a situation where somebody gave me this book of feedback. And when I read it, my heart sunk because I was like, man, she has no idea what she's talking about. I can't listen to this feedback. And I kind of just threw it away and moved on. So I'm glad you're on the same page here.

So Dave, you've got this new book. It's called Perfect 10, 10 Leadership Principles to Achieve True Independence, Extreme Wealth, and Huge Success. Now, I have a lot of people that come on the show, and especially lately, a lot of people don't define success with money and working harder and independence and things like that anymore. So I want to understand your perspective of what success means.

I love that. I love that concept of your goalposts always changing and that there's different goals at different stages of life. I think that's really beautiful. What was your goal in writing The Perfect Ten? Why did you write this book?

Yeah, I totally agree. And I know you're such a proponent of reading. And I loved reading your book and hearing about the stories from other entrepreneurs and writers and things like that. So a lot of people who are tuning in, they are entrepreneurs. And I know that you invest in businesses.

And in your book, you say the most important question that you ask an entrepreneur when considering to invest in their business is, why are you starting this business? And you say there's just one right answer to this. You're not looking for any answer except for one right answer. Can you tell us this answer and why responding in this way is so important to you?
