It was like a plank with chains and then another, like a bar. And what's funny is, too, strength athletes know this as well, to use them, too, prior to trying to go for your max lift and to get that kind of recruitment at the highest point, but not to the point of fatigue. You let off, and then you go perform, and it's like all of a sudden you've already summoned all these muscle fibers.

Well, you guys know what an evangelist I've been forever since we started the podcast, but... I'm trying to highlight this as well in the series I'm doing right now because the pursuit is like a PR is a strength goal. And so to even get my body to respond again at that high level to be able to start really working on the recruitment of it.

Like I really have to summon as many muscle fibers as possible. The only way for me to do that in a safe, effective way is through these types of isometrics.

It's funny. Some of my favorite memories, though, because like my niece, when I went to the hospital to meet and she was just born and my brother handed her to me, I'm like, oh, you know, sweetie. And then she just like pukes all over me. And I'll forever remember that. You know, tell her that. Infant puke is nothing, though.

And I guess, well, so I had just read this article that there's this Netflix series coming out called Totally describing this lady, Amanda, who had scammed everybody that she had cancer. And this is totally like a goob expose. Like you'd be all over this.

I might know her. I know. That's why I brought her up. Cause I was tripping out that she was local, like almost like, like a Los Gatos area. Yeah. She went to a church I've been to before. Yeah. I mean, if you're trying to talk about the general population and like what you see in the gyms, like if you just look at that as a big pie chart, even just performance in general is going to be this tiny sliver, you know? And I noticed this because of what I'm passionate about is like totally not popular. And so now you're taking that on top of that, you get isometrics, which is like,

I'm not sure. I don't think so because you have been progressing. I saw something in there about your rest periods and you're worried you're resting a bit too long. So is that what's extending it to two hours? Because I don't have a problem with you resting a long time. I think that's great, especially if you're focused on building strength.

And the compound lifts, if you're just focused on that and doing long rest periods in between, you should be gaining quite a bit of strength with that. But is that what's trying to squeeze everything in with long rest periods?

You don't get any glorified videos showing this to where it looks exciting. And people don't really understand the value of it to the degree because they're not trying, I guess, like the pursuits towards having like these PRs and strength goals. I don't think that a lot of people are actually pursuing it.

Those compound lifts really cover a lot, so you're including those. You're pretty good. Honestly, I think less is more for you, and you're doing the rest periods and everything. You're probably just a nice little change. Yeah, you're going to notice a big difference.

We need to build the muscle. We need to build the palate and build these better habits. This is still building in the beginning to take you even further long-term. It seems counterintuitive, but honestly, this is the best approach we've found with anybody, any size. You're going to do great with this, and it's all going to unfold if you approach it the right way.

yeah it's awesome i mean the only other comparable thing in terms of safety and like having like a lot of return from it is like a sled or like something that's like all concentric then you can get rid of at any time it's not anything you need to stabilize it's not anything that you know is is going to give you those forces back where you have to slow down uh so and then you can do that with like throwing something or you know so there's there's some other ways to to do but there's not a lot of options where it's

And I do think it's important because of all the shenanigans. And you've seen even with supplement companies how they've manipulated this. And you know the tricks.

Everything happens in a split second. That's right. And so to be able to recruit and maximize that recruitment process at a really high level and have that explosive strength on command is such an advantage. And you can train that way by working on your velocity and working on that kind of speed in your training.

Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Right. I guess to your other point with that, it's valuable for him to create novelty with that, but is it necessarily a big shift in his training to be able to now just focus exclusively on that and go aggressive with speed training? Yeah.

And I think too, this is something that falls in this category. but it's a little bit more, I guess, on the old school or like athletic side of the fence where you're adding a little more stress testing in terms of balance. So, for instance, like I'm adding a lightweight, but I'm adding a little bit more of a chaotic influence of forces. So there's a lot more.

So say I'm doing a bottoms-up kettlebell press, for instance. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And now I'm fighting two lateral forces, rotational forces and, you know, normal gravitational forces while I'm also doing it. And so I have to stay completely tense while I'm doing the same thing with adding a longer lever to something. And so for like a single arm press, but with the barbell. Right.

That's a lot more challenging, a lot harder, but it's, it's not necessarily like a ton more weight. It's just, you have to be more focused and concentrate on your attention.

Well, what kills me is it's like a lot of times it's, I mean, okay, of course there's going to be severe cases and where, you know, we do need medications. So I'm not like dismissing that, but like just to get a kid to sit still in class, like that's the entire goal is just to have them do nothing and sit there like forever. Adjust your education. Like, adjust your entire plan.

Or even like pain medication. I mean, I've seen it in... uh, with other parents and there's like just a skin knee and they're given immediately given them pain medication. Like what, what are you doing? Like we're setting them up for longterm codependence to this. Yeah.

Well, and also it's more intentional because they're working with them constantly. Right. So they have that allotted time spent with them versus like, I think this probably happens a lot more with the parents are both working or both. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean?

It's the sandbox versus a real, you know, the old school physics is what was highlighted in that, right? And you had to figure out like, you know, what the best combo was. And it was a really frustrating, but what it taught you was like overcoming challenges, which I don't think that's stressed at all in these new video games. No.

Yeah, but that's why I prefer old games too. I'm the same way. It's just like I feel like they'll walk away from it because it's frustrating. I can add to that.

Yeah. So that one I, cause I've been trying to scale off of like taking edibles and like, you know, the whole thing before, cause it did help me sleep and it helped me calm down at the end of the night. Uh, so just been doing drops of, of the de-stress is, you know, instead of that. And then, you know, at first there's a little bit of a, uh, you know, a big difference.

Just going to prioritize it. So it's a block where this is our focus right now of building muscle. And then we can build upon that, the endurance and, you know, get back to, you know, a little bit more of those other styles of training that you'd probably prefer, but to get you stronger and really maximize your muscle potential, you have to prioritize that first.

You're eliminating a lot of the momentum involved with that. And, um, Yeah, and it's also a more focused kind of discipline type of an approach, which, again, it bodes well for a beginner, but also, too, if you're trying to challenge the normal way that you're approaching weightlifting.

I like the games and you're doing that kind of in between. But, yeah, I would probably reduce the amount of volume of what your focus is with the exercises and really kind of sharpen a few, like, real foundational movements to teach them. So that way they can kind of build upon that as they go. But, yeah, I mean, like, suspension trainers, I don't know if you use them or not.

That's a real helpful tool, you know, with kids to kind of get that. Yeah, just to direct their body a little more. I know that's a big issue is really they're just – you know, have to get that body awareness established first and control.

And so that's why it's slow reps and sometimes isometric holds and some of these things like to start with that is usually what I would steer towards initially and then start building their way towards loaded type of exercises. But really, you know, suspension training is great about increasing intensity while being able to kind of manage that approach.

Yeah, and another thing I guess that I would kind of like pile on to that, which I think that's a great advice, would be to further educate the kids in terms of like having them buddy off, like group them off. The next two reps, I slow them down. Isn't that, I mean, they've shown that that's like the biggest mover is mechanical tension. Yes. In terms of muscle building. So you could definitely meddle with that without a lot of weight.

Aren't those like two of the most visible... When you see some average person that comes into the gym, whether or not they've... continuously lifted overhead or they've squatted to depth. Like you can immediately see it's, it's a stark limitation that they have. And then they try and compensate with it immediately. But it's, those are those two. It's just glaring to me.

And it's as if I added weight to the hardest part of the movement. And that's where we're summoning the troops. We're staying there to try and get more effective and efficient at actually recruiting muscle fibers. And so just even back to your bench pressing visual, it's like getting that depth and then holding that at the bottom part of the lift and really squeezing and owning recruiting.

I mean, in two, if you're going to base it all on one big workout, like you're just really not in a really high energy state. That's true. And so it's like it's pretty unreasonable to go a long winded workout versus like just these small hits throughout the week is such a better, smarter approach.

It's interesting. Yeah. Thinking back to like some of my clients, even that... We thought was like a real big success out of the gates. It's like I find out later that they're doing an excessive amount of cardio and not reporting it to me. With the right setup. I mean, really, like, what we're trying to describe is, like, what you need to consider even going into it first. And we even talked about, you know, even potentially pursuing, like, a reverse diet before even going into it would be a good idea.

This is a new generational thing. Cause as we were brought up similar, it's like, you know, you have to finish your plate or otherwise you're going to eat in the morning and And like, I'm like, ew, no, awful. Like, and so you're just sitting there staring at it forever. And then I'd find ways to get rid of the food through, you know, that's, I knew that already. I knew my behaviors around it.

And, you know, all of it was like accounted for, same thing, portions, all that kind of stuff in terms of optimizing health. And then there was fighting and pushing back as I got exposed to more foods out there. But one kid's more particular than the other and it kind of switches. And so the one kid that's the most particular, I started to kind of have this – Which I didn't really like and I didn't like this as an option, but now I understand it's probably the best option is we will all eat this the same food.

But then if you seriously protest this food, you're not going to eat it. You got to go make yourself your own dinner. And so this has already been happening. And my youngest has had to do this many times. And he only is allowed like the, and it's a healthy option. It makes so much more sense. And it really the highest priority is getting them to learn to understand their body and control their body because of the fact that, you know, they're they're in this crazy growth spurt. Like and who knows, you know, what stage are in development, but they're always going to be able to be in tune with their body if we can.

have them do these specific movements where they understand their limitations, they're understanding the challenges that they're applying to themselves through their own body weight movements where we start adding load and then it turns into a different type of experience for them.

Yeah. And it's the constant battle for, you know, a variety of different things that, you know, get presented, but it's, it's just the consistency. And if you're just, you know, starting with that same kind of energy, well, this is what we do in this house and, and. I think you know the rules. Yeah, you're right. So just think about that. Like, it's initially really tough. for that initial impact. Uh, but if you just keep consistently delivering the same message with the same energy and love and, and, uh, and they understand that, then, you know, the pushback definitely goes.

Yeah, if you're really trying to get buy-in and you're really trying to get them to be excited and embark on eating healthier foods, options and, you know, moving around and asking about working out, we can't have these negative self-talk moments where, because they're always listening. And so if I'm constantly there, you know, judging myself and, you Man, I'm fat. Man, I need to lose weight. Man, I really could lift some more weights to build muscle. And everything I'm talking about myself is negative. That's just going to rub them off the wrong way. And it should be a fun experience. It should be something that's inviting. Like, just like you said with church and with this and, you know, certain behaviors, like either you're, you do this or you're kicked out of the house. And then that was like the gold standard for that. And so for me to kind of,
know now model what are important for me and to my kids like for for me it's i have to literally take it upon myself to show them the example of that and then uh it's it's uncompromising so you know also too to be very clear and communicate like the importance of movement the importance of fitness the importance of like making those right decisions with eating habits and education of it

I think it's pretty cool. It's super awesome. It's a cool little hack. It's funny you brought up the meditation and stretching because I did do that when I had one crazy workout and I was just, oh my God, I just felt like trashed. And I was downstairs, and I was in kind of my man cave or whatever, and just like sitting on the couch. And I turned on.

And you know that YouTube has this one channel where you get a nature visual, and it plays almost like binary beats behind it. And you just sit there, and you watch it. And it's almost like the most peaceful thing. And so I turned on the Brain.fm instead, and then it had double the effect. I was just sitting there.

There's a lot of psychological games with that, as you saw in Adam's journey with that as well. I think this is a powerful tool at your disposal to have coaches in your corner and really talk you through all these things.

Like a workout? Yeah. Oh, yeah? Yeah, which is like – it's always a little awkward. It's just like – Well, I didn't really know what to expect because I haven't actually met Justin.

He was the guy that actually interviewed me. But I met him through my friend Jake. And so they knew that I was actually friends with Brendan Schiappotti. And so I got to actually hang out with Brendan Schiappotti at his gym at Rise Above Fitness. So they kind of worked it out so we could go there, which was fun because it was great to see him again. And his gym's rad.

Brandon was telling me there was meetups. There was Mind Pump meetups that were happening a lot, even after we had just been there one time. But they were connecting and hanging out at Rise Above Fitness. And so it was cool because our community was going to that gym a lot. Uh, but yeah, so we did, so I didn't know what to do. I mean, the guy's like coming, he's like, Oh, lead the workout.

You know, I'm just like, Oh, great. You know, like, I don't like, I don't work out with people. I'm sorry. It's not my thing. Uh, so I ended up taking him through, uh, I didn't know if he was going to try to ego lift and like try and outlift me or something. And so I was like, well, I better like do a good warmup. So I started going through mobility and I was making him do, uh,

you know, just some stick mobility stuff and some 90, 90 and some, you know, just like three basic like mobility moves. And he's just like, ah, what is this dude? Like completely never had, had attempted to do any of these types of movements. I was like, It was cool. He appreciated it because he's like, wow, I feel like, you know, everything's tracking.

I feel everything is, you know, like he felt really good after that. But we really didn't work out. We were just kind of lifting weights, shooting the shit. So I was like, oh, thank God. It wasn't like, you know, he was, I'm going to bury you. Like, you know, we're going to get it on film.

So, no, it wasn't intentional because, like, I was trying to get in film sessions so I could bank them before, like, because, you know, people are going to be gone next week. I don't know what the schedule looks like. And Dylan was like, hey, let's do a workout. I'm like, I just did it yesterday. I'm like, I'll be fine. I'll just, you know, I'll do a lighter one today.

And then I realized, oh, yeah, they want to film and do a workout as I get there tomorrow. I was like, this is not going to be good. Uh, so I tried to do different movements, but, uh, yeah, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm threshold, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm telling the line. You already, your body's responding already. I can already tell.

Like what's the mobility, progressive overload? And then I mean, honestly, this first month in general, I'm not I'm not pushing the boundaries of like strength or like maxing anything. I'm not like adding a lot of load, like it's really minimal. So it's really just getting reinforcing the entire structure and frame and getting like good stability.

So it's not like as crazy as it looks, although it is, I will admit it's too frequent. I could space it out a lot more effectively and that would help my body. Cause it, I did have some days, like initially the first, after the first two workouts, I was, I was feeling it, you know, and I had to do a lot to, to kind of recover and, But now I'm actually hitting the stride and feeling good.

I'm upping my calories and I'm upping my protein intake and really making an extra effort in the morning, especially. So the morning I'm really... What are you having for breakfast? So I'm like, like just four or five scrambled eggs and bacon and sausage and everything else I could find in the house. And then as I'm going out the door, I'm like chugging down a whey protein shake.

Oh, yeah. There's a lot you can do with, you know, mobilizing these joints and trying to regain function. But, yeah, that's – again, they'll get to the doctor and get recommendations, and this is where that confusion kind of sets in because the doctor holds, you know, the highest cards usually. Yes.

At the end of the day, it's not going to hurt you, right? It's an experiment. If you haven't really gone through the whole process of it, it's an experiment. And the most it's going to hurt is your ego because you want to keep going and pushing. And so maybe that's something to work on. I don't know. It's totally like that's why we challenge ourselves in so many different directions.

Yeah. No, I mean, I'm just trying to like... Be more reasonable about – I mean I got to see if I could just raise my protein elsewhere and then add more carbs. Like carbs for me, I just don't really eat a lot of carbs. So that's been one thing. I'm like I just need to do more carbs I think, more rice, more potato, more of that to fuel the workout.

Yeah, I'm sure a lot of that too is just consciously not sitting. And, you know, as you're standing around and kind of moving, that was always the one that surprised me the most was when I was just like fidgeting around and like cleaning the house up or being outside and just the non-exercise type activity or not even consciously walking, just like moving a lot more. I got a lot more steps.

Just extend your warm up when you when you start like ramping up your velocity, for sure, especially if you're not used to that, like I would do an excess of like 10 to 15 minutes, you know, prior to that. But I think honestly, like sprinting and incorporating that is going to do a lot for getting faster in your mile times.

Yeah. So we have to kind of compromise.

This is such an alien concept. I would, I would assume for a high, uh, percentage of the population to even approach, uh, It with this type of mentality. To me, what we brought up earlier was like baking a cake. I was thinking of like it's finesse. It's like if I'm trying to rebuild and reestablish a skill, I have to do it with the right amount, just the right amount of touch.

Like if I'm trying to improve my shot. I'm not going to go out there and just shoot as hard as I can into the hoop. I have to just frequently do it. So frequency is a huge factor in the very beginning, but with finesse, it has to be the right amount of stress, and we have to be able to manage that properly and get into that. Then the next one, we do the increase, and we just barely increase it.

And you can get rapid results like you're saying, but you can get results that actually stick and are sustainable. And it's something you're building better habits. And this is all something that you're going through this and you're doing everything dialed in completely, like in tune with your body instead of doing it in spite of your body.

You're a big guy and you would lose 10 easily. It would fluctuate that. But I mean, most of my female clients, it was a good solid three, four pounds that they would lose just by pulling all the water out. That's right.

A good example of this is the way we talk about taking your creatine. The research shows that the most optimal time to take your creatine within 30 minutes to an hour of your workout.

But if you're somebody who is not going to be carrying all your supplements everywhere you go and it's very easy, you can take first thing in the morning with your vitamins and breakfast or at night before you go to bed. you're more likely to follow that than it doesn't matter.

So even though the studies will show this is the more optimal time, if you're more likely to be inconsistent because that's inconvenient at that time. It's not effective anymore. Exactly. Then the other times are superior because you'll be more consistent.

Because all the behaviors attach to it. That's right. I think why the coaches one is so important is because a coach who's experienced with a bunch of clients, they're not just taking – The study is in consideration. They're also taking human behavior into consideration. And to me, this is where it's really good, right?

When you have good research and studies to point you in the right direction paired with 10 years or more of experience, you can then take what we know from the studies. You can take what you know from human behavior. And together, you have probably the more ideal answer for the average client. But many times, that doesn't perfectly align with what the studies say.

I've heard Lane defend this. And he's like, the only way you're going to get money sometimes is from the people that are most interested in getting that study. So it's like, you know, expecting somebody to fund a study that has no benefit for them whatsoever is almost impossible. So that's sure. Studies wouldn't get done if they didn't have bias contributors to getting it done.

Yeah, by a lot. By far. I was surprised at that.
I also feel like I get like a little bit of energy from it. I think the reason why I feel like I get energy is sometimes when I'm really low calorie, I'm also low sodium and not hydrated. And just sipping on that always makes me feel a little bit better. So you add that to it. That's probably why it's simple. It's easy. Tastes good.

I think it's so funny because you think about all these crazy – there's so many products on – To increase the pump. Yeah, to increase the pump. Nothing comes close. Nothing like some salt water.

the extent of which we i think that post is flying because i think it's it's i haven't heard anybody actually talk about that but it's kind of obvious dude you know i think most people understand now how antibiotics and antibacterial stuff isn't ideal for our microbiome and then yet that's what we're blasting these things over versus getting a little bit of sweat on there it's like that's probably not a great probably not a great trade-off yeah probably go there

I feel like it's too good to be true. Like seeing RFK get sworn in and then the things that he wants to do just seem like, is this possible? But then again, I've said this forever on this show that I tend to be the least alarmist out of all of us. And I really believe that the pendulum swings and we've swung so hard in that direction. that maybe we're actually swinging back the other direction.

When you say things like that, does it make you question the whole idea of capitalism with... with the pharmaceutical industry, like almost like you're pro free market for most everything.

Well, yeah, that's what I mean, because, you know, they're obviously they're motivated to get customers. They're motivated and which is capitalism is built on that. I know. You know, speaking of studies, I saw God Saad talking about a study on behavioral stuff. That's what his background is, right? And do you guys know what the number one predictor of child abuse is? The number one predictor. Yeah, it is. Right. Yeah. I would have never guessed that.

I would, you would think alcoholism, you would think like, you know, prior the parent being a beginning abuse prior, like there's a whole host of things that would, but it's like, it's not even close. There's a lot of things that can- There's also something to be said about why you- That's why those Disney movies- Why you don't with a child that you just absolutely, because it's yours and you feel this different connection and bond, I feel like. Yeah.

And that also a lot of people, I saw a marriage expert talking about this and it supports the argument that I think I've made before about like why many people end up in divorce. I mean, so basically what you're saying is your argument is that it's people not following the original framework to how marriage should be. Yeah. And their understanding. The problem with that is though that there's obviously a major correlation with just like we just talked about other studies and diets and stuff like that. yeah yeah i mean again there's also an obvious like it's huge correlation if you have the ability to you know there's an old way like don't go to bed uh you know angry right if you believe in god if you gotta sit down if you gotta sit down the girl you or you the you know spouse you just got in a fight with you know you're gonna you know that tonight you're gonna sit down and pray you're gonna have to pray tonight together with them it's like you're talking to

Yeah, yeah. You've got to solve that, right? So there's definitely something there just for that, right? Because if the couple has the ability to do that, that means they have the ability to work through problems.

But I guess when you truly find someone that you're in love with or willing to love like that, it grows. Yeah. Which is a trip. It's a trip to think, Katrina and I always talk about this with each other, how amazed that we are that it's 14 years later and the sex life, the attraction, everything is better now. Because you always hear the honeymoon phase too.

No, no, no. I don't think so. She might say that though, you know. That's what I'm saying. And I would say the same thing. I look at when she was 29, 30 when we first got together, and I'm way more attracted to her in her mid-40s than I am what she was in her 20s. Yeah, it's interesting. There's something to be said about that. But I would have never believed it. So if I was listening to this...

And I'm 20, and I'm 20-something, and I'm just like, yeah, you guys know what you're talking about. I'd be saying things like, oh, it's because you don't have any good sex. That's what I'd say. You obviously don't have good sex. Yeah, if you see what's going on over at my place right now, it'd be a different story. Sign up for the stripper classes. Look what I learned, honey.

I'm looking ahead at all your other points, and I don't see this, and I feel like it would belong here then with that is also the length of a study. Yes, yes. And even if it's a good length, it's also something to just be considered, like no matter what. So even like a good – 90-day or six-month long study, okay, that's great.

Oh, honestly, I think that I think that because they obviously try and these sex experts try and pull and use the studies to support what pornography can do to support the argument. But I would argue that that's just the vulnerability piece of like two of you agreeing you're going to do something and some of the some of the best reported taking the focus off of each other.

You've been eating at Sizzler your whole life and you have no idea. You have no idea what Ruth Chris tastes like. You know what's crazy about that? Best steak I ever had in my life right now.

I actually had a DM the other day. So I had a good time to bring this up on the commercial is that I had a DM the other day about, it was a female who said that her husband and her son both love and use it. And that is, is it good for women too? It was a hundred percent. It's all natural. So both men and women can use it. My wife will steal mine. Yeah, Katrina loves it and uses it too.

But in the context of what we're talking about and we understand how the body adapts, that still needs to be considered as part of the point.

So if you're a listener and you've been curious about it as a female, like it's not just for men. I mean, I think they marketed in that direction because there was a need in the market and they filled that need. But yeah.

Oh, you think there's that many women that are using it? I think so. Oh, I don't think so. I'd like to see. I think they market strong to men, and that's got to be their dunk. What would you say, Doug? Men. You think so? Yeah. You should ask them.

My wife tried it, and now she steals it. I'll ask, but I think that's where it's just smart. The woman's skincare is so competitive. Yeah. that they, I think, very similar to Viore's success, right? I saw they, instead of going after Lululemon directly in athleisure wear for women, they went in the back door. They went through men.

Now, there's a lot of women that are all wearing that also, and I'm sure the same thing is Caldera. Caldera is focused on men, and I think, you know, as a side effect, some women are trying it or using it, but I would think that's still their dominant market, so...

Which is a direct connection to building muscle and speeding metabolism up. Definitely. Yeah. If you have the ability to recover at a faster rate, you're going to build more muscle. If you build more muscle, it's going to speed your metabolism up. I think the way not to look at it is like, is this extra workout enough to be burning X amount of calories to burn body? Don't think of it that way.

It's that... you're optimizing your training program and your sessions, and you're helping facilitate recovery, speeding that process up. You can speed that process up. You, in turn, build more muscle, speed your metabolism.

Yeah, but there's another correlation or behavior I noticed that's attached to that for me is when I do the trigger sessions, I'm just more active through the day too.

Because I remember when the most disciplined I ever was, was around competing time. And I remember I used to hang the bands in my living room over this door. It was, they were all set up to go. And if I just kind of made, I just made it a habit that, Hey, every hour to go over there and do a couple exercises.

And I just, there'd be times where I'm like sitting down on the couch, not wanting to do anything, get up and do that after I do it. Now, all of a sudden now I'm doing the dishes. I'm doing other things. And so it's, it would just promote more activity and moving. So I think there's something to be said there too with like its connection to fat loss.

I'm assuming when you're trying to gain, right?
I'm assuming when you're trying to gain, right?
Yeah, this is OK. This is difficult because I need to know the person that I'm talking to, because if it was somebody who's like a hard gainer that they already struggle with hitting their maintenance calories or in a surplus, then I'm encouraging them to probably increase calories and pay attention to that every which way they can.

But the average person who's just kind of maybe going through a mini bulk or like, oh, I've decided to go in a slight surplus right here and you're trying to figure this out. If you whatever you've decided is your surplus, let's say there's a day where you burn more calories because you are just more active. That's OK. It's not like it changes what ends up happening.

And this is I explain this in my little docuseries I did. We're in a month's time that especially that first month I built. I think I built four or five pounds of muscle and I lost weight. almost 20 pounds of fat. Well, how is that possible? Because we know you can't burn body fat and build muscle at the same exact time. Well, that's because it wasn't happening exact same time.

In that month, there was periods where I was a little bit in a surplus and there were periods when I was a little bit in a deficit. And so there was times when my body was anabolic and times when my body's catabolic. So there's times with this person who's trying to build muscle, so long as they're in a surplus most of the time or a lot of the time, they're going to gain.

And the few times that they're a little bit in a deficit, they'll probably lose a little bit of body fat. Yeah. especially if it's not a crazy amount of a deficit for an extended period of time. And so it's not something that I would ever, I've ever worried about myself or with a client like, Oh, you burn an extra 200 calories a day. Make sure you bump your calories 200 more even day.

And now you're trying to use your tool to measure every different kind of workout. And you're like, oh, that workout burned that many. So now I get to eat this more. It's like, dude, it doesn't have to be that complicated.

So I'm going to, I'm going to give some generic, but very specific advice to the audience that I've never have in regards to this, that I think aligns with this. We've said before on the podcast that, that we think that almost everybody, if not everybody, should at least one period of time in the year run like a performance or a symmetry type of program, right, to address all that.

I'm going to make the argument that I think that everybody should at least for one period of the year run like a MAPS 15 type of a protocol. And what is leading me to say that is, and it just keeps getting confirmed with me, with our listeners and audience and people I know that have gone through this,

A lot of people that listen to this podcast, I would say a greater percentage are fitness fanatic or fitness people that are really into it. They don't miss days. Yeah, they don't miss days. They're very consistent or they come from a history of training hard and pushing.

And I can't tell you how many times I've gotten DMs and I'm seeing people report back to me like, man, I really didn't believe I'd see results on match 15. And I saw this and I saw that. I think the people that are Hardcore fitness people tend to have a tendency to over-apply the intensity and volume.

Yeah, I don't know how I would. I'd go back and forth. I mean, you could even do like the upper body, lower body type of toggling back and forth. Upper, lower, full. Yeah, something like that. There's a lot of different things. I'd also always want a client like this to consider Like a MAPS 15 type routine, like I'm assuming your other days when you work are long days.

And so getting to the gym for an hour is just not feasible. But maybe getting a 15, 20 minute workout in your garage or something is feasible. And so this kind of micro dosing approach versus trying to cram it all in your three days.

Yeah. We're looking at it in the month or body.
Yeah. We're looking at it in the month or body.
So that's how I think that's what I meant by, I would actually go upper, lower, upper, lower, upper, lower at the end of the month. Yeah. Irregardless. So at the end of the month, so some weeks you have two of them going to be upper and then other times they're going to have two or lower and you just toggle through the whole month after 30 days though. It looks like, yeah.

year it looks pretty pretty yeah yeah yeah no i agree i think that's that's sometimes we look at everything in this like snapshot of seven days and it's like no you're actually like that i like that a lot yeah because you can easily you can easily go upper lower upper and then lower upper yeah yeah yeah yeah all the way through and then at the end of the month if you do the math on you're basically getting two really good workouts of upper or lower in a week like that's pretty solid you can make some pretty good gains now that works well

You could have two people that are the same weight, same goal, same age, yet the approach and results will be vastly different based off of many factors. Their sleep, their hormones, their prior dieting. Their attitude. Diet habits, their attitude. I mean, there's so much when it comes to getting results, building muscle, losing body fat, and such a wide range.

Well, that's probably what I think the biggest is like when you don't control for, because there's a lot of McDonald's and Burger King and Carl's Jr. people. And hot dogs and salami. Yeah, that eat that way. And if you include all those, there's nobody, I don't think there's anybody who's trying to say any of that is healthy whatsoever. And so if you just simply took that group out. That's right.

Yeah, what's challenging for some is easy for others. And it's like, it's a frustration there because you get in that comparison, like, well, why is it that way for me? And it's just individual variances. It's challenges are unique across the board. And so if you can't just throw a blanket statement out there, you got to understand who you're working with.

It's one of the hardest ones. Yeah, because it's not just core. You have to stay super tense all the way to your toes. Your entire legs have to be tense and on fire and be able to control that and rein that in. And so, yeah, it requires so much strength. It's awesome.

Yeah, and to your earlier example with the lady that called in, it's like anything she does that's normally a good habit to include, you know, exercising, you know, nutrition, like if it's not centered around kind of bringing her into that parasympathy, it's a negative result. That's right.

it turns into this like exacerbating the problem, which is you wouldn't even think about that because this is a good thing to highlight. And this is something I'm pursuing is, you know, establishing good fitness habits. And I'm like still at least maintaining this. But if I'm not actually getting good sleep, it's just like it doesn't have the result it normally would.

I mean, that's the thing is it takes a lot of stability and mobility to even get into the position for a lot of these movements. And it takes you outside of that condition. I work at a desk job. Everything is kind of fixed. And so to move outside of that takes a lot of actual work just to get into that.

The only people that last are honorable with integrity. That's right. And you see this a lot, even like your Andrew Tate's of the world where they're badass. They're a tough guy. They're something that a lot of these weaker guys look up to and they want to aspire to something like that, but they don't have any honor. And so it's not going to last.

you know, it, it, it's, it's unfortunate because that's what gets all the attention and all of the glitz and the glamor. Um, but at the same time, you know, to, to, to aspire to, to be something more and to have true integrity and to, to have purpose that, that requires the longer path, the longer road.

It's what they feed them. It's what they feed them. It's so tasty. I mean, honestly, Everett actually requested that for his birthday this year for the meal. Oh, about programming it?
Oh, about programming it?
Yeah,
Yeah,
Yeah. The program itself just takes you to the place where you start to learn your body and that, that, that whole process is, you know, it's going to take all that insight and, uh, from, from your own feedback, your body's given you, but also to like knowing how to navigate through that takes coaching. And so we, we need to, we need to combine that together.

And so we, we need to, we need to combine that together.
So we understand like coaching is another additional, uh, that that's a, that's a big ask for people financially a lot of times to commit to that. And so for us to be able to put that out, the only way we put it out is to be able to reinforce that with, uh, are us continuously educating and figuring out where's the sticking points? Where are people falling? Where are people confused?

Speaking of stuff, I'm so glad to bring this up because I dropped Everett off with his friends, and they're – you know, they're hanging out and I'm trying to kind of pull back a bit and have him like explore, kind of do things on his own. And so he was like downtown Scotts Valley and that, you know, give him a little bit of money to go buy stuff and do things.

One of the most uncomfortable lifts, too. Yes. And just to be able to bend in that direction and place load properly. It's such a technical – lift to be able to pull off. But once you actually work into these positions, you find that distribution of force is so advantageous for lifting even more weight.

And he ended up going to the dollar store and we go to pick him up and we see like him and his buddies are all kind of walking around town and what they buy at the dollar store. So anything overhead to be able to actually bend in that position and use gravity and really lock out as you're distributing that force down throughout your entire torso and connect it to the hip. it's pretty cool.

Yeah, and just to add to the ankle mobility and to reinforce that a little bit further, like... Really pay attention, too, to your pressure points. And I know Brinks pointed this out a couple times with me, and also Dr. Jordan Juntas pointed this out to me a lot, too. The big toe is a big part of this whole equation in terms of stability around the ankle.

Well, yeah, and we're all trying to teach constantly on the show. You have to learn. So you have to learn, and you have to find a new way to relate and have that really resonate. And so we talk about what seems like the same exact topics all the time, but there's always something – Some other angle, some other way we can present it that may be more effective and efficient.

So if you're like farmers is why, you know, it gets highlighted all the time, how like farmer strength it's they're, they're picking up really heavy, like odd shaped objects, but they have to get off the ground and put it up under the truck or put it into the barn. You're never super balanced.
You're never super balanced.
Yeah. And it's just like it requires such incredible focus. And I think that the value of it, too, which is overlooked a lot when we do lifts in exercise, it's only, you know, a few seconds at most. Right. To pull off that exercise and to stay tight and and really under control. But the I mean, this exaggerates that. Totally.

No, you're not.
That's right.
I mean, in two, if you're going to base it all on one big workout, like you're just really not in a really high energy state. That's true. And so it's like it's pretty unreasonable to go a long winded workout versus like just these small hits throughout the week is such a better, smarter approach.
It gets away from them.
Yep.
It's interesting. Yeah. Thinking back to like some of my clients, even that... We thought was like a real big success out of the gates. It's like I find out later that they're doing an excessive amount of cardio and not reporting it to me. And, you know, this while like cutting calories like crazy, they're getting they're losing weight.
But we get to this place where it's just not sustainable real fast.
With the right setup. I mean, really, like, what we're trying to describe is, like, what you need to consider even going into it first. And we even talked about, you know, even potentially pursuing, like, a reverse diet before even going into it would be a good idea.
Fixed it.
That's not what we're talking about.
And you're just signaling you're strong, you're safe, secure in the joints. So that way too, now it actually like allows your body to produce more force.
Everything happens in a split second. That's right. And so to be able to recruit and maximize that recruitment process at a really high level and have that explosive strength on command is such an advantage. And you can train that way by working on your velocity and working on that kind of speed in your training.
Yeah, yeah.
That's another way... You are intrinsically, yeah, enhancing your... Yeah.
With eliminating a lot of the risk involved because you get to a certain point where it's like you're – You're looking at a substantial amount of weight that's, you know, you're only getting so much benefit and the risks are really high.
I heard some weird facts. That's weird. The smell of chlorine is really like, the main smell of it is really just urine.
If you smell that and it's really pungent, there's probably a lot of piss in the pool.
Well, I know how it is with those deprivation tanks, right? Oh, yeah. That's a weird feeling.
Like, make it interactive. Like, you know, push back on the teachers to do a better job.
So if my kid is sitting in class. That's why I push back.
Where can I get that stimulus?
Wasn't, so I know we had the creator for Brain FM on the show a long time ago and he was talking about this big initiative to create like FDA get approval for them to be a viable option instead of taking ADHD medication.
Or even like pain medication. I mean, I've seen it in... uh, with other parents and there's like just a skin knee and they're given immediately given them pain medication. Like what, what are you doing? Like we're setting them up for longterm codependence to this. Yeah.
It's the first thought.
Pretty inexperienced.
Well, and also it's more intentional because they're working with them constantly. Right. So they have that allotted time spent with them versus like, I think this probably happens a lot more with the parents are both working or both. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean?
You die. It's just...
It's the sandbox versus a real, you know, the old school physics is what was highlighted in that, right? And you had to figure out like, you know, what the best combo was. And it was a really frustrating, but what it taught you was like overcoming challenges, which I don't think that's stressed at all in these new video games. No.
It's just literally how long can we keep them all there so we can capitalize on them.
Yeah, but that's why I prefer old games too. I'm the same way. It's just like I feel like they'll walk away from it because it's frustrating. You suck at it, and then you get better, and then you get excited because it's like, oh, my God, I actually accomplished something. You never feel like you accomplished something in these new games.
We have to bring up that stat, though. Was it like the average was like two inches around the waist?
I can add to that.
Yeah. So that one I, cause I've been trying to scale off of like taking edibles and like, you know, the whole thing before, cause it did help me sleep and it helped me calm down at the end of the night. Uh, so just been doing drops of, of the de-stress is, you know, instead of that. And then, you know, at first there's a little bit of a, uh, you know, a big difference.
I've, I've didn't feel it, but then like over, you know, the, a week of doing this now it's like, oh, I get in that state and it's starting to kind of really kind of take me.
It's a big hurdle. Huge difference.
He was going for convenience, which is understandable.
I wouldn't keep that up.
We keep adding content, so it helps to beef it up.
And even us seasoned vets in the gym could change up just the tempo of it and really receive a totally different experience.
I mean, just you work with a trainer for three, four months to navigate forward, you know, to start with the right foot.
Oh, give us some numbers. Yeah, give us some data.
12 years old.
If you have enough kids, you can have them kind of in pairs where one is watching their form and you're kind of teaching them what to look for with the next kid and they can kind of help you
shape and guide them as well so you're not like kind of running you know from one to the next to the next and also it empowers them to learn it uh more effectively as well cool way to do that uh especially when you're teaching like hinge patterns squatting stuff like that is uh cheap pvc pipes
Tempo training and, yeah, have them all like really go by that, you know, the count. So you might even have like a beeping kind of timer for them to hit those positions. Right.
The next two reps, I slow them down. Isn't that, I mean, they've shown that that's like the biggest mover is mechanical tension. Yes. In terms of muscle building. So you could definitely meddle with that without a lot of weight.
They're moving along. Yeah. Maybe sharpen their skill. Yeah.
Yeah, or Performance 15 actually would be a good skeleton to go off of. That's a great one.
I think it's most appropriate. Yeah, you could really pluck from that and kind of arrange your schedule with it.
You got it. All right, Tracy.
You can set yourself up, you know, and really work on the mechanics of the whole thing and intensify that process. There's all kinds you can do.
So that way you have the strength. Now you can build upon that so much more effectively.
I've hung out with plenty of people, especially when I was in the Midwest. Mountain Dew was a big thing. Literally all they drank was Mountain Dew. I was like, this is not good.
That's how big of a deal this one is. Yeah, that's a good counter message to the I'll sleep when I'm dead. That was me.
Cool. You're going to have no testosterone.
I've seen that stuff.
Well, you know what's crazy about that, too, is you don't realize it until you actually grow your own vegetables and fruit in your backyard. And then you taste the difference between that and like store-bought. And it's like, it's night and day.
I would say probably vegetables. I've kind of abandoned them for a while after I went full carnivore and then kind of was just like – I don't know. I went through this weird phase of like, I don't really see the point. Uh, and then it was like deficient and to bring it back.
I don't, I mean, I never liked them. I just ate out of spite, you know? And so I'm just now I'm like, yeah, I've definitely been consistent with multivitamins and, um, you know, green juice and stuff like that to kind of supplement it. But I'm, I'm, I'm consciously making a more of an effort again, but it just is one of those things that never stuck.
Because nobody will even test them. Yeah. Wow. I know. It's a nice pivot for gummy bears if they decide to just relabel it. That's right.
There's got to be a curiosity factor to that.
Also shows that we seek out negative things. Sure.
So it's like where the line is, right? Like how much can I tolerate is also kind of a weird thing that we see.
They smoke cigarettes. It's a repetitive process. But, too, it's a stimulant.
I don't have a phone to call anybody.
We always stray away from the basics.
I just feel like that's part of the culture.
You don't realize the level of commitment and what they've accomplished. It comes out totally different.
It could be throwing darts.
Yeah, yeah. That's why I'm not posting, like, guitar videos, you know? It's just like, dude, I have too many people, like, I know, like, personally, that would shred my face off.
She's not happy with me.
Oh, are you actually trying to bulk? I am. I'm trying.
Oh, I just eat more, but... I mean, I'm not like... It's not like junk food or anything, but yeah, I'm just... Well... I mean, I'm adding like a shake with a ton of peanut butter in it. So the peanut butter is not doing me any favors.
I think more of the dairy, because here's the thing, like to add more protein, like for me, you know, I've, I'm definitely drawn to dairy cheese and milk and all that kind of stuff. And I just think it's, I'm overdoing it with that. And it's just...
So I was, like, 225, and so now I'm 232. Oh, you're 232 right now. Wow. Heavyweight.
I think, yeah, I think that's the illusion, right? That's the one where you get your shoulders bigger and it definitely brings wideness.
Yeah, I was going to say the neuromuscular recruitment process might be enhanced.
In your mind, it's probably like you're looking at a sprinter's body as a target goal.
Yeah. So we have to kind of compromise.
Wow. Hey.
Protein shakes only go so far too, but that is another, but you can do it and you can do it in healthier ways.
How much does he weigh, though?
Well, you say that, but also, too, you never know these days.
One of the contributors could do those Hills very well.
Yeah.
It goes a lot further than people realize.
We continually learn.
And that's really just been the messaging forever for us and like why we went into like microwaving and like everything about our lifestyle and everything was all just like pushing us towards convenience, convenience. And it's just it doesn't have a great effect on our health.
Oh, yeah.
It's one of the hardest ones. Yeah, because it's not just core. You have to stay super tense all the way to your toes. Your entire legs have to be tense and on fire and be able to control that and rein that in. And so, yeah, it requires so much strength. It's awesome.
And that's hard for people in parasympathetic state.
No. Interrupt your sleep? No.
Oh, that's right. It has protective qualities.
And you don't see it in the gym.
Yeah.
Okay, I'll give you an example. You're pressing like the animalistic human behavior button that keeps you there.
They're just trying to get ahead of it. Yeah, yeah.
Fuck.
Sorry.
It's what they feed them. It's what they feed them. It's so tasty. I mean, honestly, Everett actually requested that for his birthday this year for the meal. He loves those ribs more than anything else. I mean, Katrina and I sometimes, we'll just eat that. I think you made it for him. I've been trucking, I think, and then he was hooked.
Oh, about programming it?
Yeah,
Yeah. The program itself just takes you to the place where you start to learn your body and that, that, that whole process is, you know, it's going to take all that insight and, uh, from, from your own feedback, your body's given you, but also to like knowing how to navigate through that takes coaching. And so we, we need to, we need to combine that together.
Like, how can we highlight this? How can we address this and help people through these obstacles?
What?
He told me this when you went to the bathroom. I was like, oh, dude, this is crazy. What is it?
Yeah.
And it's only going to increase. I mean, they said that once AI really is in full force, because if you're somebody that has the platform where it's actually going to thrive, we're going to have our first trillionaires.
You could definitely tell he's had a lot of people on his show talk to him about it. Yeah, I enjoyed it.
That's what we're heading for. Yeah. It's the big grill in the room.
to wrap their head around.
It's like, Okay, can you imagine what it looks like, let's say, like Lake Havasu or, like, New Orleans or, like, what they're carrying in terms of, like, a drink? Oh, yeah, the long.
The long, skinny, like, it was all, like, he's got American glasses on. He's got, like, a little hat and, like. they literally look like they're on spring break drinking water out of this thing. And then everybody's like honking, you know, like, Oh my God, this is such a, like a foreshadowing for me. Yes, it is. And he's fricking 12.
I was dying, dude. He still drinks. He brings it to the dinner table and it's his favorite cup now. And it's literally like, it just looks, yeah, it looks like, you know, you went down to Cabo or something.
That's great. Yeah.
And so to be able to articulate your toes and work on that, And also like maintain those pressure points between, you know, the big toe and the pinky toe and just, you know, reinforce that and regain that sort of ground force strength is going to help tremendously.
And then, yeah, of course, all the other kind of steps apply in terms of gradually bringing that depth and treating it like it's an entirely new exercise. Yeah.
We're seeking that out constantly.
Especially deadlifters, yeah.
They weren't doing a lot of horizontal pressing. No, bench press didn't exist. No, to be able to get the weight from the ground up over your head was like the ultimate goal.
It really does put pressure even more so on your back and getting that low squat position. It's a totally different lift.
Next up. Go ahead. Well, I was going to say we could have also replaced it with like a rounded –
It's a crazy display of control of your body. Totally.
Right. It's the closest to like resembling hard labor. Yeah. Right. So if you're like farmers is why, you know, it gets highlighted all the time, how like farmer strength it's they're, they're picking up really heavy, like odd shaped objects, but they have to get off the ground and put it up under the truck or put it into the barn. And, you know, and all that requires like this, this,
crazy strength communication with the body to pull off.
Totally.
So you really have to stay under tension and stress and pure focus and communication with your body to pull this off, which is why I love it so much.
And, you know, initially I was trying to kind of balance that with my kids. Like, you know, we're all eating the same thing. This is just how it's done. And, you know, all of it was like accounted for, same thing, portions, all that kind of stuff in terms of optimizing health. And, you know, it was all kind of understood and everybody had this understanding.
It's like eggs or it's like some kind of, you know, meal that we already have that he knows how to make.
He knows how to turn the oven on. He knows how to do all these things, but he has to be involved in acting because it's disrespectful to, you know, his mom that had put together this, this amazing meal for us all. And he knows that, but like, he's, He's very particular about his tastes and flavors and whatnot, but understands the importance of why this is all structured this way.
It makes so much more sense. And it really the highest priority is getting them to learn to understand their body and control their body because of the fact that, you know, they're they're in this crazy growth spurt. Like and who knows, you know, what stage are in development, but they're always going to be able to be in tune with their body if we can.
have them do these specific movements where they understand their limitations, they're understanding the challenges that they're applying to themselves through their own body weight movements where we start adding load and then it turns into a different type of experience for them.
you know, ramp, but like to even besides fitness and, and trying to kind of promote that as well, like showing them that you can have fun doing hard work. And so for me, it's like, you know, we're going to load up the wheelbarrow and we're going to move some rocks and, you know, and we're going to go out and, um, you know, sauce and some logs are going to dig some holes.
Like it's, and this is all rigorous hard work, but it's, but I'm having a great time. You know, and so it's just it's a mentality you're trying to sharpen this and you're trying to show and model that like you don't have to suffer. And this is so horrible.
Drives me crazy.
Yeah. And it's the constant battle for, you know, a variety of different things that, you know, get presented, but it's, it's just the consistency. And if you're just, you know, starting with that same kind of energy, well, this is what we do in this house and, and. I think you know the rules. And we just remind and reiterate and then just consistent, consistent, consistently deliver.
And then, you know, when it comes up and then the pushback happens, it quells quicker.
Yeah, you're right. So just think about that. Like, it's initially really tough. for that initial impact. Uh, but if you just keep consistently delivering the same message with the same energy and love and, and, uh, and they understand that, then, you know, the pushback definitely goes.
You got to adhere to it.
It's too powerful a thing to fight.
Yeah, if you're really trying to get buy-in and you're really trying to get them to be excited and embark on eating healthier foods, options and, you know, moving around and asking about working out, we can't have these negative self-talk moments where, because they're always listening. It's like what you do is really what they're watching, observing.
It should be something that's positive.
And we should be trying to really model and show them that this could be a fun embarking adventure.
That's more important. it's a tough line because you know, the importance of it. And, and I came from a household where it was like, everything was forced. Like, just like you said with church and with this and, you know, certain behaviors, like either you're, you do this or you're kicked out of the house. And then that was like the gold standard for that. And so for me to kind of,
know now model what are important for me and to my kids like for for me it's i have to literally take it upon myself to show them the example of that and then uh it's it's uncompromising so you know also too to be very clear and communicate like the importance of movement the importance of fitness the importance of like making those right decisions with eating habits and education of it
uh you know without that infusion of force but but show them this is why i do this all the time this is why you know this is helping my body and like the reason and the rationale with it have that open communication instead of it being so closed off black and white like you do this or you don't do this and you're gonna get fat yeah so i i think it's important that we share what that sounds like i mean i you got what you guys are both saying obviously is right um
90.
So now you're overstressing yourself.
It's a very finesse-driven pursuit, and I think people don't realize that.
Yeah, muscle memory.
And you can get rapid results like you're saying, but you can get results that actually stick and are sustainable. And it's something you're building better habits. And this is all something that you're going through this and you're doing everything dialed in completely, like in tune with your body instead of doing it in spite of your body.
Less is more.
Yeah, and for the person who's freaking out, say, no way, it's you. So three to 10 pounds is what I used to say.
You're a big guy and you would lose 10 easily. It would fluctuate that. But I mean, most of my female clients, it was a good solid three, four pounds that they would lose just by pulling all the water out. That's right.
So let's say... Will you even do it?
Because there's other behaviors that are attached to that.
Sometimes it can even be counter what the study says because human behavior is so strong and that's more likely for them to adhere to. That's what you're going to remember.
Yeah, I had mine all the way down to the carb. I knew exactly how much water, sodium, and then carbohydrates to get to just the crazy pump.
It's not even close, is it? No.
And a thyroid issue.
the extent of which we i think that post is flying because i think it's it's i haven't heard anybody actually talk about that but it's kind of obvious dude you know i think most people understand now how antibiotics and antibacterial stuff isn't ideal for our microbiome and then yet that's what we're blasting these things over versus getting a little bit of sweat on there it's like that's probably not a great probably not a great trade-off yeah probably go there
no everybody gets in your skin and yeah they're so afraid of like getting on a bench or because someone now wipe your sweat that's fine you don't want i wonder i wonder how many uh because i think gyms need to get rid of it i want to make an announcement all they have to do sal is actually just put something more you know proper in the water bottle just water yeah spray and wipe with water that's it would be fine water or water and soap just a little bit
Everyone's constantly spraying those things in there. You know you're breathing.
I know.
Almost doing anything is going to be positive. It's actually worse.
What is that increase? That's like- It's a huge increase. Thousands of percent increase. It's insane.
When you say things like that, does it make you question the whole idea of capitalism with... with the pharmaceutical industry, like almost like you're pro free market for most everything.
Well, the problem is enough. Would that be enough? Yeah.
Well, yeah, that's what I mean, because, you know, they're obviously they're motivated to get customers. They're motivated and which is capitalism is built on that. And for most other industries that serves us as a species that, you know, they're out competing each other to give something that is better for the customer. But when it comes to.
pharmaceutical, it's in their best interest to keep you on medications or get you on another medication. And so if that's the desired outcome from a pharmaceutical company, and that's what's driving it, that capitalistic type of mentality, that can be really dangerous, right?
So way one is- I mean, there's a couple of things. The guy who's- Homeboy's stressed. The guy who's having low amount of sex like that's probably depressed, right? It's probably-
sitting on the end for and it's it's probably his lifestyle is affected for sure it's a it's a cycle right so not only is he not having a lot of sex but then he's sitting at home eating cheetos he's not exercising which is not helping his case to have sex he's probably more likely to have erectile dysfunction he's more likely not to have that so it's like a feedback yeah so there's there's like a there's a correlation that can you know one person someone may look at that and be like oh if i want to reduce my risk of cardio disease i need to have a lot of sex yeah but it's probably reverse you
Like, so like, yeah, like you're having a step parent is more dangerous for the child than them being an alcoholic or all these other things. Not that that's a good thing, but it's that,
that's how much of it's a greater predictor is just simply a step parent. I thought that was really fascinating. It's sad.
There's a lot of things that can- There's also something to be said about why you- That's why those Disney movies- Why you don't with a child that you just absolutely, because it's yours and you feel this different connection and bond, I feel like. Yeah.
I don't – like when it's your child that shares a part of you, I feel like there's a different level of – When a kid has a really good step-parent, that's such a nice thing.
they're you know they oh that's my dad that's my mom it's like well you know actually you know he's been raising me since i was four such a great you know like a great dad a great mom i mean that's if you ever hear katrina talk about she talks about her stepfather more than she does her own father yeah yeah so her her own father is she has a really she has a similar relationship with her own fathers i have my mother and she's way more connect or was you know he passed troy passed away but
She, she attributes a lot of her good from, from what she's learned from him. And so he was a good stepfather.
And that also a lot of people, I saw a marriage expert talking about this and it supports the argument that I think I've made before about like why many people end up in divorce. Like one of the number one reasons is just, it's purely picking the wrong person to what I've talked about before. Like you're attracted to,
all of your insecurities and brokenness is what you mistake as love, is you're drawn to this.
I mean, so basically what you're saying is your argument is that it's people not following the original framework to how marriage should be. Yeah. And their understanding. The problem with that is though that there's obviously a major correlation with just like we just talked about other studies and diets and stuff like that. If you're somebody who puts God above yourself. Totally.
Yeah, that and itself is already, and both of you think that way when you marry, then there's a super high chance that you would be.
yeah yeah i mean again there's also an obvious like it's huge correlation if you have the ability to you know there's an old way like don't go to bed uh you know angry right if you believe in god if you gotta sit down if you gotta sit down the girl you or you the you know spouse you just got in a fight with you know you're gonna you know that tonight you're gonna sit down and pray you're gonna have to pray tonight together with them it's like you're talking to
Yeah, yeah. You've got to solve that, right? So there's definitely something there just for that, right? Because if the couple has the ability to do that, that means they have the ability to work through problems.
I forget what I read, too, what a huge part social media has played in divorce, too. I forgot what it's, there's a high percentage.
Pornography. Pornography.
And the data shows- So I would say, so if you word that like that, it would also, social media would pop up there too. Probably. There's like, oh yeah, like cheating on there. Yeah, because it made it easier. Yeah, oh yeah, it's listed in there. It'd be interesting to see what the-
Isn't that crazy? Yeah, yeah. Well, what's crazy... Who would have thought lusting after other people would have caused that? What's really crazy and unfortunate about that is there's a lot of... I mean, there's somebody listening right now. I guarantee you'll get all fired. Oh, it's good for me. That's a sex expert that tries to... Bullshit. ...tries to make the case all the time for that.
I mean, we've communicated with them before and that's...
It's such a bullshit.
I mean, I would have, straight up, I would have never believed that. Same. You know, 14 years ago, I would have said, no, that's no way, not true. It's all about novelty. The novelty, the new, the... No matter who I was with within six months, I don't care how beautiful, how amazing, whatever she is, then something new or different is always with.
Like people always say like, oh yeah, well, once you get, wait till you get through the honeymoon phase.
Well, it's also probably a spike and then drop too, right? There's probably like the novelty. Oh, wow.
You already look too young, man.
Client was more productive at work. You know what I'm saying? Everybody's super happy. Yeah, positive. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, but follow that out for three years. Picked up dancing on the side. You know what I'm saying?
It's like, we've decided your caloric maintenance is here. We've decided this is your goal calories. I'm not worried if that day you had, it does seem like splitting hairs, right?
And I think a period of running like a MAPS 15 protocol, I think it will help you peer into that if you're that type of person. So I think that everybody should run something like that once a year.
Almost everything works until it doesn't?
year it looks pretty pretty yeah yeah yeah no i agree i think that's that's sometimes we look at everything in this like snapshot of seven days and it's like no you're actually like that i like that a lot yeah because you can easily you can easily go upper lower upper and then lower upper yeah yeah yeah yeah all the way through and then at the end of the month if you do the math on you're basically getting two really good workouts of upper or lower in a week like that's pretty solid you can make some pretty good gains now that works well
Yeah.
Yeah. And I think the point of this conversation, cause I know right away, it always tends to ruffle the feathers of the, the kids that love to, to lead with all the studies.
It's not that to completely disregard studies. It's just that there's another point like with experience that I think matters. And I think that you have to take that into consideration. And just the nuance when it comes to individuals. I mean, this is...
You could have two people that are the same weight, same goal, same age, yet the approach and results will be vastly different based off of many factors. Their sleep, their hormones, their prior dieting. Their attitude. Diet habits, their attitude. I mean, there's so much when it comes to getting results, building muscle, losing body fat, and such a wide range.
individual variants that what worked for this person, fantastic, or what worked in this study so well may not for somebody else. And you just have to consider all that.
I love that one. That's one of my favorites.
Whenever you talk about that, I have such a vivid... When I first moved to the Bay Area, I moved here when I was 19 turning 20, and I lived with my grandmother, and my grandmother started every morning. She would move her little chair, and she'd sit over there with her arthritis, and And she would have a cup of coffee and smoke her cigarette.
I'd be getting up for work, getting ready to head off to the gym. There's my grandma at 7 o'clock in the morning having her cigarette and drinking her coffee at the same time.
And the problem with that is for decades... Tease out the fast food people.
And then just compared everybody who ate, oh, beef.
Once they start to draw correlations from other data points, does that many time end up throwing a lot of studies out? Dwarfing some Do you know how often?
I've drilled those into a platform before. Have you done that? Yeah.
They're ready to go.
Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty strong. Yeah.
T-shirt time!
Are they enjoying it?
And, you know, you have the ability to really create that environment that's inviting like that. And, you know, like you were talking about just play, like wrestling, jumping, running, you know, anything outside, experiencing, hikes, like whatever it is that's active and fun and engaging and creates movement for There's ways to construct that, even if you're limited on space.
It'll constantly be in their ear. It's coming.
Buried in books and they're not out there doing it.
Do you have any idea? So much food, bro. It's like when Sal's cold, he's like 8.5.
You know, it used to be real bad. And you haven't even mentioned your gut in a long time.
I was going to ask you, like Vicky actually mentioned this to me before. I told you guys I've always had a problem grinding my teeth. Yeah. And it's just like this weird thing that it's like it feels like it's out of my control. She's like, yeah, she had heard that there's a lot of associations with parasites. Yep. People that grind their teeth. Yep. And I was like – Really?
I got to get on top of that.
Horse grade?
If you eat sushi often, you probably have- I heard it's like 80% of the population walk around with parasites. At one point, I don't know what the data is. Something like crazy stat.
Well, you guys know what an evangelist I've been forever since we started the podcast, but... I'm trying to highlight this as well in the series I'm doing right now because the pursuit is like a PR is a strength goal. And so to even get my body to respond again at that high level to be able to start really working on the recruitment of it.
They make you grouchy. We know what your weekends consist of. I don't know what you mean. That's so gross. What did you pull up there, Doug?
Justin has that one. Justin definitely has that one. It's an STI. I think I ate that one.
He just starts blowing.
Oh, I do all the time, yeah.
i mean i have some gross stories i'm not gonna bring up like yeah there's i i don't know for me like i there was one big blowout though i could definitely remember like everett had that when he was in his crib and it was just like it was over the walls it was like oh like and i was just i just walking into it and you're just hitting the face with the smell it was like oh Whoa!
Like I really have to summon as many muscle fibers as possible. The only way for me to do that in a safe, effective way is through these types of isometrics.
And I was by myself because at that time, there was a good period where my wife was working nights as a nurse. And so I was like daddy daycare every day.
Yeah, it was all brand new.
I take that back because so I used to work at camps a lot and I was like a camp counselor and I did like day camps and things like that through these churches and
um you know like you i was working with younger kids until i was only like you know 10 12 years old or something like that and so i sometimes like um one of the one of the girls like can you come help me and i'm any you know another set of hands the whole and i'm like oh god like holding this like dirty diaper and so i did have like some exposure to it but not like i didn't have like a younger sibling or anything so yeah i was pretty much just like horribly trying to figure it out when
But it almost went in my mouth. It was bad.
You're making him lunches. Oh, dude, dude.
It's the notes to be here forever. You're like, what is Scamanda?
And I'm like so curious. Well, so this was a conversation my youngest actually brought to me from school. And they were kind of talking. And I guess, well, so I had just read this article that there's this Netflix series coming out called Totally describing this lady, Amanda, who had scammed everybody that she had cancer. And this is totally like a goob expose. Like you'd be all over this.
I can answer that too.
But she was here. She's literally here in San Jose. And was, like, doing this at a local church and was getting all these donations because she was claiming that she was going through treatments and all this kind of stuff.
Dude, I was like, you want to talk about what's evil? That's evil. Oh, that's terrible, man. Super evil, dude. And so I'm like, there's this whole podcast, like, dedicated to it. And apparently Everett's one of his buddies, like, that was his – she, like, worked at a school and that was, like – He went to that school. Knew her intimately.
That's sociopathic, dude. It's so wrong.
Is it sociopath or is it psychopath? So it's like the one that doesn't feel any morality. Sociopath. Sociopath. Yeah.
I might know her. I know. That's why I brought her up. Cause I was tripping out that she was local, like almost like, like a Los Gatos area. Yeah. She went to a church I've been to before. And like, she was like, they brought her up on stage and she was asking for donations. And I'm like, wow, the level and extent this lady went through, uh, with this scam is it's, it's unreal.
Yeah, you don't have any moral compass. I mean, I guess that's the fallback, right? You just continue to lie. Oh, that's sad.
Yeah.
Yeah. You're probably right. I hope it's that. It's not, you know, the dark stuff.
Yes, for sunscreen and sun.
Especially when I get that horrible farmer tan on my neck, dude. It's like my face and my neck.
Change the stimulus.
Those compound lifts really cover a lot, so you're including those. You're pretty good. Honestly, I think less is more for you, and you're doing the rest periods and everything. You're probably just a nice little change. Yeah, you're going to notice a big difference.
Yeah, 25 sets in one workout. You could switch that up.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You don't need to.
You crank the intensity up. It's way better to up your rest periods. That's right. You're going to have – a lot better.
Bye-bye. You know, every time we travel, Adam feeds me ice cream, triggers my fat memory. Fat memory? Every time. When you remember being fat? Yeah.
General practices.
going to happen and to do it in the very beginning makes the most sense because it's so much less damaging and so you can recover quickly from it uh and you're i mean you're really just priming your body for more force production i mean i guess you're you're right because i and i remember arguing this when we when we were building map symmetry i i don't remember which one of you
We need to build the muscle. We need to build the palate and build these better habits. This is still building in the beginning to take you even further long-term. It seems counterintuitive, but honestly, this is the best approach we've found with anybody, any size. You're going to do great with this, and it's all going to unfold if you approach it the right way.
And then you just – Well, there's a lot of urgency and intensity around it when you get big. But, yeah, I mean, I've had to talk to a lot of – I have a lot of friends in that category from football, and it's like, you know, it's just – It just happens. And so it's the same process though. And it applies to you.
You can tax your CNS, but still you're in recovery.
Well, and I love the yielding because for me, it's like – Whenever you see a weight and it looks intimidating, just to be able to hold it and acclimate to it, there's a lot of value in that.
yeah it's awesome i mean the only other comparable thing in terms of safety and like having like a lot of return from it is like a sled or like something that's like all concentric then you can get rid of at any time it's not anything you need to stabilize it's not anything that you know is is going to give you those forces back where you have to slow down uh so and then you can do that with like throwing something or you know so there's there's some other ways to to do but there's not a lot of options where it's
Like you can get that much return for the safety and the risk being low.
Yeah, does that limit your mobility a lot with fusion?
Never even feeling it.
You have to rebuild those recruitment patterns. You have to rebuild the whole movement. process all over again in a healthy direction.
Yeah, well, it's interesting, too. A lot of these modalities now, like, even with LDOA and, like, the kind of traction you can create with your back. And, like, you know, I didn't know a lot of that even when I was a trainer. So, like, the resources are out there, too, in terms of, like –
you know, furthering your knowledge and experience with how to help people kind of work through some of the pain.
So I told you guys, right. I was in line and I, I was just kind of minding my own business. And behind me was literally my favorite football player of all time. Oh, Ronnie Locke. Ronnie Locke. Oh, that's great. Oh, he was on your flight? My flight. Oh, really? Yeah, and he sat, like, across from me, and I was, like, holding myself back. You didn't fangirl out?
Like, I was fangirling, like, completely in my head. Yeah. And just kept to myself, waited. But then once we got off the plane, I was like, I just want you to know, favorite player of all time, love watching you play.
Yeah, you're trying to get past.
That's how I meditate. I need like guided focus and like, you know, I can't just sit there.
Anderson.
How big are the screens? Huge. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. I mean, it would seem that like, it's, it's mainly all the habits that you've created that over a longer period of time that, you know, with, with eating and with sleep and all that.
Yeah, I've seen some wild posts about GLP-1 lately, especially the one I heard guys talking about it being attributed to lizard venom.
Lizard venom, and then I've heard that within a year, you're looking at thyroid cancer. It's just, it's wild.
Sugar studies.
Yes.
Uh-huh.
We're going to go through that for a while, for sure.
Oh, yeah. Yeah, especially you got nothing in there. It just keeps going. There's no kind of limitation to that. But yeah, but then there's the case where it's like it's just strained or it's stretched out. That's different. It was different, which I'm sure we'll get into that.
I know people have hit me up about it. Is this true? And I just want to make sure that we at least put it out there.
It inspired it. Yeah. So they created it in the lab, but they're not actually extracting it.
But I knew they were working on, too. Even with snake venom, it was blood pressure because they found that that was effective. I don't know that that's a problem anyway. It's just like we learn a lot from nature.
You're not going back.
There's a lot of psychological games with that, as you saw in Adam's journey with that as well. I think this is a powerful tool at your disposal to have coaches in your corner and really talk you through all these things.
Yes. And they all have, you're like, where did they come up with these routines?
I mean, there's like so many just trip out on these like mundane jobs. Like you're, you're a pawn shop owner and you're like, you know, just selling people like everything, you know, it's like, or you're, you're trying to bid on like a, some storage unit. Yeah. It's like, it's so funny.
I doubt.
I hate this one guy because he's all branded out. I've actually watched this. He shows up in this van and they're like, oh, there's Rick. They're all talking shit about Rick. If he bids this, I'm going to bid this. Yeah. They're all like, you know, colluding against them.
Yeah, and then they had the circuit training section only. Do they still do that?
Yeah, now we had the turf. The turf came into the gym. Bumper plates.
And then nobody's using it.
Oh, it's inflammation.
What I'm seeing now is the more luxury gym. That's really...
a lot of them are popping up now and even like uh at santa cruz athletic club is kind of like uh trying to do that but well they have the hormone doctor specialist is there they got the re the recovery part where they have the norma tech boots and they got like uh you know cold plunge and then they have like all these things kind of set up for like these biohacking kind of options and then over here it's like then you have the rest of the gym and then you have you know the training and
Oh, yeah. How was your – Yeah, I went down to L.A. I was invited on a podcast. Seven-hour interview or something like that? Yeah, because we did like a whole vlog and everything ahead of time.
It's like totally my vibes, like really crazy metal playing in the background. And then cardio sucks, like in big letters.
Probably.
That's another reason why I was worried. That's another reason why I was worried because... I've seen two of his workouts out here, Adam.
Hard, hard. Oh, dude. Like, you know, cruising.
It's like my strength's coming back.
This will be fun, dude.
This is a good time.
I'm like loading it.
Yeah. I haven't been gassing you guys out yet or anything. So I'm not like... So you're good. Yeah. I'm like, again, like with the training, they're kind of both... You know, I'm toeing the line. We'll see how this goes. It's awesome.
Oh, yeah. There's a lot you can do with, you know, mobilizing these joints and trying to regain function. But, yeah, that's – again, they'll get to the doctor and get recommendations, and this is where that confusion kind of sets in because the doctor holds, you know, the highest cards usually. Yes.
Are you on target?
At the end of the day, it's not going to hurt you, right? It's an experiment. If you haven't really gone through the whole process of it, it's an experiment. And the most it's going to hurt is your ego because you want to keep going and pushing. And so maybe that's something to work on. I don't know. It's totally like that's why we challenge ourselves in so many different directions.
And that's what's beautiful about fitness and health and trying to improve yourself. and grow. So, I mean, at your age, like you're killing it and you know, whatever you haven't done is, I mean, that's kind of like where the grass is.
Yeah.
Try and balance it out so it maintains that good tracking.
Yeah, we're not going to outwork it.
Carpal tunnel, tennis elbow. Tennis elbow. Earlier, yeah.
They've got to coach somebody through that. They don't have that perspective. Our next caller is Kayla from Texas.
Pain signal is interesting because a lot of times it prevents people from even attempting the movement after. And so to take them through that range of motion and then really squeeze, and I'll do like isometrics where we just squeeze and hold this tension in place for a few seconds.
And then all of a sudden, if they do feel like relief, it's like, okay, yeah, we could definitely work with this muscularly.
Unlocks it or just creates stability again. And it sends that signal to your body. It's stable. Oh, we don't need that pain signal.
No, no. Is this us letting us know how you feel lately right now? No, no. Is this some kind of experimental surgery we don't know about?
I've had clients in the past.
Yeah, I don't know. I struggle with this because it's like, you know, you want to make things simplified and you want to portray that like this is a simple process. But, you know, a lot of times people underestimate like if you don't have a really good plan, like how. wie schwer es ist, das psychologisch durchzufĂĽhren, und um effizienter und effektiver mit deinen FĂĽhrungen zu sein.
Wow. Just to get that initial contraction.
Yeah, I definitely could do more.
Das sind 150 oder 175?
Sie machen eine Risikanalyse auf ihn? Das stimmt.
Jeder hatte diese Beziehung. Und wenn man einsteigt, ist es wie, wir machen das alle zusammen.
Dude, let's also put a little meth. Let's keep them coming back.
Somebody please tell me if this has ever worked for their dogs. I doubt it, dude. So anyway, I was just like, this has to be like a crazy scam.
Yeah, you can hear that.
A dog whistle is different. Yeah, I was like, oh man, I'm such a sucker.
Ja. Und das ist, weißt du, großartig.
Es riecht gut. Ja, es blendet gut.
Das ist smart.
Sie wird entdeckt.
Makes me feel like one you're not as good at. Was meinst du? Was meinst du?
It's been interesting to watch. You mentioned CrossFit in the beginning, and we're
seeing in terms of like physical meetups like that was definitely you saw boot camps become a big thing you saw even with weight loss you know with weight watchers groups and it was very powerful and that whole dynamic is something that now obviously it's moved more into the virtual domain because you know we've been kind of
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, I hate laying down. I think that was the one deterrent. I liked incline bench. I moved to that quickly.
separated a bit from the whole covid years and i think that that became more popular at that point because of that so the zoom meetings were a big thing and then now it's the facebook groups and but it's still it has traces of um value but um it not meeting in person there are some deficits there
It's a trap.
You know, there's a lot of tomfoolery out there that, you know, uses this as a way to manipulate people and their emotions. And it's tough because you have only this selective amount of time to capture somebody's attention. And so how do you capture their attention to get them to be hooked to then also listening to your actual message?
That's a tough.
We've proven, like you said, like your point.
I think even video testimonials are better.
Well, I mean, I think- Well, and the description of how they got there, you know, that's all like highlighted. Like we went through these periods of reverse dieting. Like the whole story is attached.
Yeah, it was the only form of marketing.
We're just creating these communities so that that way, again, to our earlier point, we're giving them access to accountability amongst their peers. And also to having coaches in there to talk them through these challenges and And also one thing they saw we hadn't talked about yet is the app that they've been using with the coaches.
Capture that momentum. Yes. There's no sustainability in that message.
I had heard that like they knew the the problems with blue light way before they they okayed it in terms of like the whole policy of like changing for economic reasons, like some of the lighting, even for canned lights and making those like fluorescent and casting down more blue light and also on your phone. And then they passed, you know, that to happen.
It like dramatically affected everybody's sleep.
We never had the same covers. I'd always stack a bunch of blankets on top of Courtney, and then I was like, just a sheet. Really? And so, yeah, we were able to kind of control that a bit better with technology.
I'm on top of the covers.
Because he did it on himself on one arm versus the other.
Your girl ain't asking you about your PR.
I love watching the videos, dude. It's just like, I'm always, oh, no, I wonder if he got this guy.
Which we're finding out all that's true because of what they're uncovering and they're really digging into these audits. It's pretty alarming. And I don't know why people aren't more alarmed of how much corruption and criminal activity is happening.
We just scream out for transparency. I mean, that was the biggest thing. It's like, you know, I want to know what's really happening, and you're lying to me. You're obviously lying to me. If you're lying to me, I'm not going to accept it. That's it. Like, just don't lie to me.
Dude, you like that Jeep commercial with Harrison Ford? That was fantastic, dude.
Well, so even within the church community, and I was talking to, I believe he was your pastor at one point. Chad. Chad. And just, you know, that whole time period was really difficult because, you know, and I hadn't been going to church because it was just, I was very, very disappointed in a lot of the values. And I understand, like, they're in a very precarious situation.
Like, they have to appease. They're going to lose-lose, right? They're going to get hammered by people that are all on board, and they're going to hammer on people that are, like, you know, not up for it. But there was one church in this area that took a stand. And so I was like, that's the church. And I'm like, I see that. I see the ones that were fearless, you know, amidst, you know, being –
They have all their own unique effects too, yeah. That's why people seek those different streams.
You just end up compromising and extending your timeline. And you just have to be honest with yourself with that and what's your main priority and stick with it.
Yeah. Perfect mentality to have the intention like that. And to sharpening the mechanics and making sure like really form is of the utmost importance. And that's where you're going to progress a lot. Like the skill of working out that you're learning and acquiring, you're going to actually progress with that. It's not always just load that we're focused on.
Yeah. And if you need to modify anything, like I don't know if there's any specific exercises that might, you know, you notice later on or the next day affected you a little bit more with that, like we can kind of work with you on adjusting things. So it'd be good to have you in the forum for sure.
Oh, awesome. We love John. Oh, sweet.
Take care.
You know, grasp of what that is.
Well, I'd love the statistics on after they go through 30 days of how many people kept going for a year. And then you could find out like, oh, if that really was a Kickstarter, if that really did kind of help promote that. I doubt it's very high.
So if I'm like two or three reps, that's how I deal with it. Especially the third set.
So you got to hook them all the way.
My problem has always been the rebound effect. And it's like, where do they go from there? And, uh, You know, somebody that has a negative experience when they're that hyper motivated to address these issues. And then, you know, after they get through that and they feel great and then now they fail again.
It's like that that kind of period, it creates this disdain for the process, the disdain for fitness in general. And then we're like we have to convince them that, no, there is a different way to do this that's sustainable. Yeah.
Yeah, of course. I did. Yeah, I had it on my website. It was massively effective. I don't want to be a hypocrite here, but... At the same time, that's why that was an intentional focus for us. It's like, can we prove that you can do this differently? And to Adam's point, it's a big ship to steer. It's a big thing to ask this industry to focus on.
And I do think it's important because of all the shenanigans. And you've seen even with supplement companies how they've manipulated this. And you know the tricks.
