Chapter 1: Why are the prelim fights taking longer than usual?

1.811 - 10.759 Joe Rogan

Hey, we're up. We're up. We're up. We're up. It's not a good sign that the fights are still going on for the prelims. That must mean there's a lot of decisions.

0

10.819 - 11.66 Brendan Schaub

A lot of prelims.

0

11.68 - 31.699 Joe Rogan

A lot of prelims, but also a lot of decisions. Like, usually they time it out better, because it's like 3.04 now, and this is 1.37 to go in the third round of Jai Herbert. Not ideal. No, but, you know, shit happens. At least they're not doing it at 5 o'clock in the morning. True. That was fucking ridiculous. If I was Leon, I'd be pissed.

0

32.099 - 33.62 Guest

What time was it in the UK when they said this?

0

33.74 - 46.592 Joe Rogan

It's normal time. They're seven hours ahead. Yeah, so it's nighttime there. So it's like 10 p.m. right now. It's normal. Are they six hours ahead or seven hours ahead? I thought it was seven. Something like that. But either way, it's nighttime there.

48.784 - 49.865 Guest

Have you seen any of these guys?

49.885 - 58.613 Joe Rogan

Yeah, Jai Herbert's the guy that head kicked Ilya Teporia. Knocked him out? He dropped him. No, he dropped him out. Vicious head kick, and then Ilya fucking starched him in the next round.

58.653 - 59.613 Brendan Schaub

He has great striking.

60.154 - 61.795 Joe Rogan

Yeah, very, very good kicks.

Chapter 2: What are the latest updates on Ilya Teporia's career?

456.986 - 468.678 Guest

Yeah, they would help a little bit. Or go gangster and go, you know, you have show money and then you get extra money, like, you know, double, but you have to knock them out or submit them. Otherwise, you just get your show money.

0

468.778 - 469.539 Brendan Schaub

UFL does that.

0

469.559 - 471.261 Joe Rogan

I don't know if you want to say it. UFL does that.

0

471.281 - 471.561 Guest

Oh, really?

0

471.601 - 471.781 Joe Rogan

Yeah.

471.921 - 473.102 Guest

Okay. I think that's a good idea.

473.122 - 481.87 Joe Rogan

What's UFL now? What do you mean? PFL? No, UFL. What's UFL? UFL is where, like, Tony Ferguson, Dale and Danis is fighting. I thought that was GFL.

483.351 - 483.951 Brendan Schaub

Yeah, GFL.

484.011 - 484.712 Joe Rogan

Oh, okay.

Chapter 3: How does weight cutting affect fighters in the UFC?

1597.455 - 1599.196 Joe Rogan

What's the Mexican dead orchard? How does it work?

0

1599.316 - 1619.73 Guest

You got to do a lot of stuff. You got to go invisible collar to muddy waters and then Mexican dead. There's a lot of stuff. Because if you have long hair or long... If you're a heavy metal dude, if you have long legs and you're on the bottom... depending on how you match up with the guy, he can get dead orchard. You can triangle your legs with his arms in a perfect defensive position.

0

1620.03 - 1633.659 Guest

And a lot of times people get surprised. Like, what the fuck happened? How did he triangle his legs? They don't understand. But if you have short legs in the guys like this, or just regular legs, there's no way you're going to be able to triangle your legs with both arms in. You need one arm in, one arm out.

0

1634.06 - 1652.814 Guest

So with both arms in, the only way a Mexican or a Chinese guy could do a dead orchard is you've got to have this arm down, and this arm like this. Like this, now I could triangle my legs. You gotta do a lot of work. You gotta get the hand on the mat, and then you gotta get his elbow in. There's a lot of stuff. It's super complicated.

0

1653.494 - 1669.267 Guest

Dead orchards are not the greatest thing for... And you gotta be super flexible. Super flexible, and you gotta put a lot of time into it. But if you have long legs... You should be doing Dead Orchards. It's by far the number one armbar in the guard, no gi, and there's not even a close second.

1669.687 - 1670.028 Guest

Really?

1671.429 - 1682.098 Guest

One of my black belts has 84 Dead Orchards, and his student, who's a purple bot, has 34 Dead Orchards in competition. Who has that many orchards? Chris Vickers from 10th Planet Walnut Creek. That's crazy. That's crazy.

1682.578 - 1707.208 Guest

and dead or uh there's they they happen all the goddamn time ben eddie got uh uh um wilson hayes in in a combat jiu jitsu match he got him in a dead orchard and wilson hayes is high level black but he just fought mighty mouse for the title a month before that's high level yeah you know but you know but for girls Girls proportionally have longer legs than guys and more narrow shoulders.

1707.569 - 1719.538 Guest

So if you're a girl out there and you're fighting MMA and you don't have a dead orchard in your game, you're missing out. Girls can do dead orchards at a higher level or a higher rate than guys, for sure, just because of the body type.

Chapter 4: What is the potential of kickboxing in the UFC?

1931.977 - 1934.498 Guest

We call that the Indian. Yeah, exactly like that.

0

1934.518 - 1943.26 Gordon Ryan

That's Gary heel hooking. On the inside, yeah. But, so yeah, so it's hard for the guy to, the guy can't hit you from here, he can't really throw any punches to your face.

0

1943.3 - 1950.262 Guest

Basically, anytime you reap, which is that left leg going on the inside, makes it hard for the guy to hit.

0

1950.842 - 1977.035 Guest

so most people think oh all leg locks don't work in mma you're gonna get smashed that's not true some leg locks will save your ass there was a fight in the ufc some brazilian guy forget it was an ultimate fighter he was on his back getting walloped and the guy was like had a horse stance on top of him against the cage and was throwing down and that brazilian just jumped jumped on a on a knee bar a knee bar attempt and that saved him because now he can't now he's punching his ass

0

1977.956 - 1995.652 Guest

And then from the knee bar he got knocked down on his back or on his butt And then I turned around jumped on his back and choked him out Yeah, I don't think you're seeing a lot of heel hooks because a lot of guys just aren't very efficient They're not focusing on it Ryan Hall was one of the first to come in and really do some damage with leg locks Yeah, he got BJ Penn pretty quick.

1995.912 - 2017.885 Gordon Ryan

Mm-hmm. The number one determining factor of with with leg locking is and so far as getting hit is In order for the person to actually hit you, they have to come up on top of you and put weight onto you. So the number one determining factor is, can I keep this guy's head? If you're attacking and you're trying to punch the guy, if you can get your head over his head, you can hit with power.

2018.486 - 2023.091 Gordon Ryan

So any leg-locking position, which doesn't allow your opponent to get head-over-head, is what's going to keep you safe.

2023.47 - 2026.471 Guest

So basically double outside ashi. What do you guys call double outside ashi?

2026.491 - 2027.111 Gordon Ryan

Just outside ashi.

Chapter 5: How are grappling events evolving with the UFC's involvement?

2507.67 - 2516.12 Guest

A lot of football players. Yeah. That's amazing.

0

2516.14 - 2524.798 Joe Rogan

That's the coolest shit ever. That's amazing. John Jones. Savage. The GOAT. The GOAT. Yeah. The GOAT now. No doubt.

0

2525.198 - 2527.44 Brendan Schaub

No, that's no doubt. It's silly when people argue that.

0

2527.46 - 2529.842 Joe Rogan

If he beats Aspinall, everybody has to shut the fuck up forever.

0

2529.862 - 2542.631 Brendan Schaub

They need to shut the fuck up even if you're going to lose to Aspinall. His resume through light heavyweight, you got to realize he went through that whole fucking span of fighting the best of the best that light heavyweights ever had to offer and fucked up all of them.

2542.651 - 2546.174 Joe Rogan

Look at the line. It's like Tom Aspinall's a slight favorite. That's kind of crazy.

2546.254 - 2546.955 Brendan Schaub

Yeah, he should be.

2548.052 - 2551.975 Joe Rogan

Look at Marab over Sean. Yeah. Ooh, 350 to win.

2552.455 - 2555.297 Jamie

Tom hasn't been out of the first round. Are they doing, is this real?
