Chapter 1: What are the Game Awards nominees?
Case of the Golden Idol is the first one, because I do have both. I got the code for Rise, and I wanted to play Case before I played Rise, so I bought Case. And let me tell you, this game fucks. Case of the Golden Idol...
is sick okay it's a point and click puzzle game where you're essentially trying to solve these crime scenes by like clicking into like people's pockets and seeing like what's going on right like usually a scene will be you see like a dead body or you see like a person dying and like you have either people around in different rooms or you have like clues around so you like point and click them okay what the story is like see if you can put the story together i meant to play this for
maybe like 20 minutes. I ended up playing it for like an hour and a half last night before going to bed. Got super into it.
And let me tell you what I appreciate about this game that I think I've been missing out of games quite a bit this year is for a year where I've been playing a lot of long-ass games that, you know, take their time, that want to, you know, demand 90 hours of your play time and all this shit, right? What I appreciate about this, and I want to maybe make a Smiley's category for this.
A Smiley's category? This game gets to the shits.
you know what i mean it gets to it quickly hey you're in and automatically like we're throwing you in here's a puzzle solve it we're not going to tell you anything we're not going to like fucking you know tutorialize it and like make sure you know all the rules just get in there have fun solve a puzzle and i appreciate that i love when games get i don't like to meander get to it get to it and this game gets to it so i appreciate that and i want to shout out other games throughout the year that got to it okay so i'm gonna make sure i make sure i write that down and i will
I'll make that happen. Okay, I like that. I'm glad that you scratched that puzzle itch. Yeah. I love the puzzle game.
And it doesn't seem like that too long of a game, so I'm going to try and finish it in the next... A little double feature maybe? Yeah, maybe finish it in the next week and then get to the Rise of the Golden Idol because I'm really enjoying this puzzle format. But enough about that. Let's talk about today's news because remember, this is Kind of Funny Games Daily.
Each and every weekday, we run you through the nerdy news you need to know about live on YouTube, Twitch, and on podcast services around...

Chapter 2: What underperformed for Capcom this year?
They also separated by country as well.
Oh, I see. So now we're getting to UK, right? You got Edge, Eurogamer, The Guardian. Let's roll pass because I think for the UK ones, they're all mostly going to be the ones we know, right? Shout out to VGC also being there.
Hold on, hold on, hold on. Someone pointed out in the chat, Game Informer isn't a thing anymore.
I mean, neither is What's Good Games.
Oh, what the fuck?
Yeah. That's why I paused there. I was like, oh, interesting. Huh. Do you think it's a guy posing as Game Informer? I don't know.
I also wonder if this is like last year's and maybe he hasn't updated it yet for this year.
Okay, here we go. Global. So you have Argentina. And let's just go by country because you have quite a few outlets here from Argentina. Scroll down a little bit. You have Australia. There's three outlets there. I don't even know how to pronounce that. Benelux? You have one from there. You have nine from Brazil, right? Two from Canada.
Damn, Canada's washed, bro.

Chapter 3: What are the important changes to Roblox?
Stellar Blade's soundtrack, I think, is going to go under the radar here. I'm glad it got nominated because it is fantastic. Okay. It is. It's so good. But it's also, like, you played Nier Automata. Yeah. You kind of know what they're going for. Shadow of the Earth Tree didn't have any banger songs? I mean, it probably did, but, like...
Yeah, I guess I can't really think of... It's lost in the action. I guess it gets lost in the action in the RPG. The RPG menu. Moving on, we got Best Art Direction. You got Astrobot, Black Myth Wukong, Elden Ring, Metaphor Refantasio, Neva. I think a great list. Shout out, thank goodness you're here also. He's not there, but I think that's a good one for art design or art direction.
Best Narrative, FF7 Rebirth, Black Dragon, Metaphor, Senua's Saga Hellblade 2, Silent Hill 2. Solid. Best Game Direction, Astro Bot, Bellacho, Black Myth Wukong, Elden Ring, Shadow of the Earth Tree, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Metaphor Refantasio. Which brings us to the big category, Game of the Year. Game of the Year.
Of course, this is when the website breaks on me.
Game of the Year. Astrobot, Bellatro, Black Myth Wukong, Elden Ring, Shadow of the Earth Tree, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Metaphor, Refantasio. Mike, I take you to X.com. Take me to X. Where quite a few days ago, on November 15th, Wario64 tweeted out, this is from thegameawards.com slash FAQ. Yep. Are DLCs, expansion packs, and remakes slash remasters eligible?
They answer, the Game Awards aims to recognize the best creative and technical works each year, irrespective of the format of that content's release. Expansion packs, new game seasons, DLCs, remakes, and remasters are eligible in all categories if the jury deems the new creative and technical work to be worthy of a nomination.
Factors such as the newness of the content and its price slash value should be taken into consideration. Mike says, The world is on your shoulders. Should Shadow of the Earth Street be nominated for Game of the Year? Mike, take it away.
Yeah, this is going to be the fun one because I'm going to get absolutely roasted. I am of the mindset that yes, it can be and should be nominated for Game of the Year. How fucking dare you, idiot.
Take that mic, shove it up your ass.

Chapter 4: Who got snubbed in the nominations?
Mike? It's time.
Oh, snap.
We had so many big games make the list for nominees at the Game Awards. But if I needed something, I don't know, something smaller, say the tiniest news I needed to know about, where would I go?
Yeah, Bless, I would take you to the WE News channel where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
Mike, as I do this, I want you to read through the Super Chats. Let me know if there's anything staying up there that we should do later. Story number two, which is now being demoted to Weed News. Kunitsugami, Path of the Goddess, missed sales targets because of a lack of pre-launch buzz, Capcom says.
They go into it during a shareholder-focused Q&A reported on by Gamebiz, talking about how Kunitsugami, Path of the Goddess, missed sales targets, but they're trying to make up for that. They're trying to sell more copies. It seems like all the other Capcom games did hit their sales targets.
And then story number three, Roblox blocks under 13s from DMing others outside games amid scrutiny over child protection. I pulled that headline from Wesley Yenpool at IGN. I highly recommend Patrick Klepek had a post that he posted on Blue Sky from his, I guess his blog, right? Crossplay.
Yeah, it's a sub stack.
Thank you, Substack. He kind of gives a whole breakdown about the importance of Roblox update here, right? Like for parental controls and for child safety and stuff. And so if you're somebody who might have kids that play Roblox or might have friends that have kids that play Roblox, maybe look into this, right? Check out this Patrick Klepek article.

Today's stories include our reactions to the Game Awards nominees, the Capcom game that underperformed this year, and some important changes to Roblox. We'll have all this and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily. Yo, what's up? Welcome to Kind of Funny Games Daily for Monday, November 18th, 2024. I'm one of your hosts, Blessing Adelia Jr.
Joining me is the master of hype, Snowbike Mike. Bless. Good morning. Happy Monday, big dog. Good to hang with you always. How you feeling? How you looking today? I'm feeling good. Had a fun weekend. Celebrated a birthday. It was a good time, but not as good as the time that I imagine you had because you went to Vegas. You got to go to Sonic Topgolf.
Yeah. Spent 24 hours, wicked hours in Vegas. Yeah. Got to play Topgolf. Sonic the Hedgehog, Topgolf. A lot of fun.
I can't wait to hear about it. I know you guys are going to talk about it on the Kind of Funny Podcast, so I don't want to burn podcasts. But let me tell you, the amount of FOMO I got, just like seeing the Instagram stories, and then also the Instagram, like, I don't know what they call them, but like the status updates. My little notes.
Your little notes when you follow each other on Instagram and you go in the messages and you see it there and you just be like, I'm in Vegas and I talk off. We're in the sphere. He did it all for Greg. Doing it all for Greg.
Shout out to you for doing that. Greg asked me to do that, so I kept him up to date with all of our movement. Shout out to a couple of kind of funny best friends who found us out in Vegas. It was a wild 24 hours. And you know what, Bless? I won't burn the podcast later with Sonic stuff, but we did go to the Sphere, and it was epic. It was epic.
That was the point where I was like, damn, they're living the life. They're doing it. They're doing it. Because I don't think you guys said anything about going to the Sphere before you left. At least I didn't overhear any conversation.
It just happened. It just happened. We arrived. Tim was like, you have five minutes. We're going to the Sphere. And I changed my clothes. I went right out. Started eating chicken tenders in front of an AI robot. It was amazing. Hell yeah. Well done for you.
