Kami thought she could help fix what Josh broke. But as she leaned on faith and tried to guide him back to honesty, she began to realize this wasn’t just a crisis of ethics. It was something darker, something unraveling. Click ‘Subscribe’ at the top of the Infamous show page on Apple Podcasts or visit GetTheBinge.com to get access wherever you get your podcasts. Chapter 1: Who is Kami and what is her role in trying to fix Josh's fraud?
So Cami now knows that Josh has been defrauding some people with his companies, and she wants to help make things right.
I was like, just make everybody whole. And he's like, I sold stock. I had this whatever, and I sold it for a million dollars, and we can pay people back. Amazing. Sell whatever we have. Great. Wonderful. So I thought that kind of... So it seemed like we were getting in front of it. And then there was this deal that was supposed to go through for $100 million to put money into the company to buy...
the goods up front you know and that was being in the works and that actually closed it seemed like this could still work out it seemed like this was some like it could be fixed somehow so she went about trying to fix it there's a concept in judaism if you're honest in business that's the first thing that god asks you when you go to heaven is were you honest in business because were you honest when no one was watching so
I was like, okay, Josh, you have to be honest. Let's start from, we have people who are willing to help us. We can figure this out. Who were you dishonest to? How do we get in front of it? There's something called rapping to fill in that you do when you're like really religious. I was like, maybe I'll reach out to someone to help you rap to fill in.
So see if that helps your spiritual connection and maybe we'll be able to get through this. So I have someone online rapping. I saw him rapping to fill in. I was like, that's not it. This is nonsense. This is something else.
The way Josh was acting, it just felt like more than a spiritual problem. It felt like she was with somebody losing it.
There was a movie, Uncut Gems, with Adam Sandler.
That's the movie where Adam Sandler plays a New York jeweler who has these big hip-hop star clients. And he also has a very intense sports gambling problem.
And I saw Uncut Gems and I said, Josh, his energy is your energy. Like that's how you feel to me right now. This frantic energy.

Chapter 2: What were the scale and impact of Josh's alleged fraud on the community?
The perfect wife who all the people who were allegedly conned just loved. Josh's brother-in-law says that too.
It was very embarrassing and it was, you know, here's a woman who was really put on a pedestal in the community.
And now she was getting knocked off. From Campside Media and Sony Music Entertainment, this is Infamous from Con to Cupid, Episode 3. I'm Vanessa Gregoriotis. So the span of Josh's crimes, as alleged by the government, was massive. It was tons and tons of their friends and community all along the main line. It felt sometimes like it was everyone they knew.
Well, that's what they said on the local news.
They knew this guy way back. Their daughters went to school with his kids, and they found him persuasive. He would have Friday evening meetings, Jewish holiday, even the Jewish Sabbath, and they would talk about religious things they would present. In other community aspects, you know, he would come across as a person who was kind of one of us. Is he charming? He is described to me.
He won't talk to me. But he is described as energetic, eager, helpful, the kind of guy who volunteers, the kind of guy who takes the captain's hat on and helps.
If people like this, who are considered very successful businessmen, very successful people in society, if they can't figure out a scam, is there any hope for any of us?
You know? This is a rare case.
Okay.

Chapter 3: How did Josh's family and community react to the unfolding scandal?
Set the, you know, set the tone straight and let you know.
The meeting ended and I walked Josh out. He was a disaster. He was hysterical. And I said, you could never come back here. You can't talk to my family anymore. You need to get help. I don't know what's going on in your life. I'm so sorry, whatever you're going through, but you can't contact your family. I don't want you calling your parents anymore. You just took a swing at your sister.
Get your shit together and you got to get out.
Within months, Josh would not be a bull anymore, though. He would have a breakdown.
Sukkot is my favorite Jewish holiday. Sukkot is a time where you build these temporary dwellings outside and you invite people in and you access joy through what's in the sukkah. What's in the sukkah? No material possessions, friends, family, food, stars, sun. And I make a big deal of it. I decorate my sukkah. It was the first night of Sukkot.

Chapter 4: What happened during the family meeting about Josh's situation?
But Josh is on the couch and he's not moving. Reminder, we did not speak with Josh for this podcast.
I brought him to the hospital. At that point, people were talking about COVID brain. I thought maybe he had a stroke. They pulled me aside and said, your husband has a 2.2 blood alcohol content. And I was like, that's not possible. Is there any way that that's wrong? Because it's the afternoon on a Friday. What do you mean? And they were like, no, it's true.
I said to Josh, they're going to let you stay here. I'm done. And I got the kids, got my parents. And I was like, I'm done. Like, this is it. You know, so I called his parents, called his sisters. And I was like, he's a mess. He's an alcoholic. I don't know what he is, but like, he's drunk. My father-in-law agrees. And we put him in a very expensive rehab. So yeah, we got him into rehab.
He was there only four days.
But he did go to another rehab.
He was writing me these long emails about how he has a new lease on life and how everything's, you know, he's going to change and he recognizes the error of his ways. And he is getting massages and meditating and he met a celebrity and everything was going to be great. And he was going to be bought out of the company for $2 million. It just like happened. I know none of that is true.
There's no 2 million, but you want to believe it. If it's true, everything is so much easier. But at that point, I know there's no way this is true. I write him an email and I CC the, first I write the letter to the facility. I said, I know what, I want Josh to get better. He's the father of my children. They don't in anywhere want to interfere.
But I have a feeling that you're not getting any truth to what's happening at home. And that you're getting this rosy picture that like, we still have money. He's going to start a new career and I'm divorcing him. And I don't want to hear about, he was mentioning a celebrity who was with him. I don't want to hear about the celebrity. I don't want to hear about the massages he's getting. I am done.

Chapter 5: What led to Josh's breakdown and rehabilitation attempts?
And he has to face that this is our new reality and it is not pretty. So because I wrote that letter naming the celebrity, he had violated a confidentiality agreement and he was kicked out. So now it was, oh my God, I can't have him back here. And my father-in-law was like, I'm not paying for another stint at a... So we found, he said there was another place that our insurance took in California.
Of course, the place that he said was not free, did not take our insurance. And I find him a rehab facility in Mississippi. Um, so he goes to Mississippi at the rehab facility and it is a good facility. It is not luxury, but it's a good facility. So I get him a job at Starbucks out in Mississippi. I find rabbis in Mississippi. I actually find three rabbis in Mississippi.
And he left there after like a week. And then he went to Florida. And really, it was just like, why did you leave? I actually think if he could rewrite this story and go to the Mississippi facility, get the job at Starbucks, try to rehabilitate his life, people would have softened.
But that's not what happened. Gail's husband, Josh.
Some of us were like, he doesn't need a rehab. He's not an alcoholic. He's not a drug addict. He's just a narcissist.

She was a decorated veteran, a Marine who saved her comrades, a hero.
She was stoic, modest, tough. Someone who inspired people. Everyone thought they knew her. Until they didn't.
I remember sitting on her couch and asking her, is this real? Is this real? Is this real? Is this real? I just couldn't wrap my head around what kind of person would do that to another person that was getting treatment, that was, you know, dying.
This is a story all about trust and about a woman named Sarah Kavanaugh.
I've always been told I'm a really good listener, right? And I maximized that while I was lying.

Chapter 7: Who are some notable people affected by Josh's fraud and what were their responses?
Chapter 8: What is the deeper story behind Josh’s actions and the consequences for his family?
If you have a loved one and they're having surgery and you're waiting in a hallway, it's this hallway of like angst and stress and where your time stopped, where you can look at a window and people are having lunch outside, but your life is stopped. Your life is like nothing about it's lighthearted. Everything is life or death. And that's this hallway that was just like
What's my life going to be? This is so bigger than me. This is so big. It's just so scary. How am I going to go home to my kids? I have to tell the truth. But my truth isn't good for their father. So I had that, like, will my kids forgive me? And my dad would say, Tammy, you don't have a choice. It's not like you can be like, no, thanks. I'm not going to talk to you. You're... Subpoenaed.
My dad was like, the only thing you have to do is tell the truth. If you lie, you're going to go to jail, Cammie.
Cammie's father, Barry, went with her. He was family, after all. He was the lawyer she trusted.
It's not only an FBI agent. It's two U.S. attorneys and two forensic accountants. And they're all there, okay, asking you every conceivable question known to mankind. Didn't you recognize the profit spending your husband was engaged in? Didn't you recognize this? What about the bat mitzvahs you threw? They were over the top. What about the home down the shore, the decorators?
I mean, they were accusatory questions. This was not a polite interview. And I think Cammie started crying. When they got to the enormity of spying that people were doing on her, her neighbors, I mean, you know, I mean, when she walked out of the house, she had this sense that people were looking at her askance. And I would too, if I gave my kid's 529 plan to an investor.
OK, and now my kids are going to have to get college loans. And this person lives two doors away from me. So all of that brought on a torrid of legitimate tears and emotions.
The FBI agreed that Cami wasn't in on the scam. She was not going to be charged. Josh would be brought up on criminal charges alone.
This is Infamous from Campside Media.
