Duck Call Room

Uncle Si Scares Jase Robertson Away from Surprise Visits

Thu, 13 Mar 2025

Description

Uncle Si roasts Jase’s off-the-wall grandpa nickname, and Jase is so intimidated by Si that he’s afraid to show up for a surprise visit. Martin’s wild weekend results in the downfall of his nearly 15-year perfect attendance record for speaking events, and John-David finally gives his son Carter the birthday present he’s been dreaming of. Phillip helps with some truck trouble that freaked Si out big time, and the boys remind Si of his stint as a redneck okra on the kids’ TV show “VeggieTales” back in its heyday. Chapter 1: What exciting travel story does Jase share?

9.487 - 22.892 Si Robertson

Welcome back to the Duck Call Room, ladies and gentlemen. We are so glad that everybody could join us. And I don't really know what we're going to talk about today, but that's nothing new. So I will tell you, I had an exciting weekend of travel this week.

0

23.332 - 24.112 Uncle Si

It sounds exciting.

0

24.132 - 32.916 Si Robertson

Where did you go? How was it exciting? I was in West. Well, eventually I ended up in West Unity, Ohio. West Unity, Ohio.

0

33.056 - 34.436 Uncle Si

What was in Ohio?

0

34.496 - 46.561 Si Robertson

Yeah. What event was that you was at? It was a men's group at a church in the middle of nowhere in Ohio where they didn't realize that spring is here. Man, it was cold. Oh, they didn't.

47.781 - 69.988 Si Robertson

spring had not sprung yeah it's not sprung up there sprung here either their water was hard there was this white stuff all over the ground as well oh that's bad i don't know yeah that's cold they said they call it snow i'm not real sure but uh just seemed weird for march right like but no the yeah american airlines they got me oh no Yeah, it was good.

70.028 - 84.813 Si Robertson

Twice this weekend, I walked to the gate, and my plane was still there, but that famous line of, sorry, the door's closed. Yeah. That one. So I got to watch the plane that should be taking me. Oh, no. Was it your fault? No, it was their fault. I mean, it was weather's fault.

Chapter 2: What happened to Jase's perfect attendance record?

84.893 - 87.194 Martin

Oh, that's always a good reason.

0

87.254 - 102.404 Si Robertson

Yeah. But there was a big, bad thunderstorm over DFW starting out first thing Saturday morning, and then it just never got better. Yeah. To keep my perfect attendance record at my events, though, I drove from Chicago to West Unity, Ohio. I rented a car and I took off.

0

103.284 - 103.684 Uncle Si

Really?

0

Chapter 3: Why is Jase intimidated by Uncle Si?

103.764 - 122.73 Si Robertson

Yeah. How long did it take you? About four hours. So I was about two hours late for the event. But everybody stayed. Everybody was happy. Everybody was nice. But let me tell you, they didn't hang out long after. They took their pictures and everybody's out there. They's ready to go to bed because, you know. That wonderful time change, which I will say, this is the time I like.

0

123.03 - 132.097 Si Robertson

So whatever this looks like, this is the one I enjoy when you have time for daylight after you get off work. This is the one I enjoy.

0

132.157 - 134.059 Dr. Phil

Mr. Trump, if you're listening, promise is made.

0

135.2 - 139.103 Si Robertson

Do the rest of it. But doesn't he want to end daylight savings time?

0

139.803 - 149.221 Martin

I think he's open to either one. He wants to keep it? No, he said it was 50-50, so he wasn't going to mess with it. 50-50. That's what he said. Really? Yeah, it's 50-50.

149.362 - 152.827 Si Robertson

People like it getting dark at like 445 in the winter? No, I hate that.

152.867 - 157.334 Dr. Phil

Well, it's because they live somewhere where it's like... They ain't doing nothing anyway?

157.474 - 161.981 Martin

Yeah, it's... Well... I'm with you. I like to get off of work

162.341 - 185.725 Si Robertson

when i used to work and there's still some daylight yeah and there's still some daylight left for me to do something yeah where you can piddle right he didn't do anything at work all day no well he said when he used to work trust me he was well rested hey i said when i used to work yeah i haven't seen those days but he was always well rested when he left here so he i mean the sky was a limit when he left duck commander

Chapter 4: What birthday gift did John-David give Carter?

Chapter 5: How did Carter react to his first shotgun?

591.697 - 593.198 Dr. Phil

Oh, I guess you were in Chicago?

0

593.458 - 597.458 Si Robertson

Chicago to Ohio. I paid $47 on the roads to get there.

0

597.718 - 600.559 Uncle Si

Well, we paid a lot in Houston going through those tolls.

0

601.039 - 607.141 Dr. Phil

I've never noticed. Yeah. I also don't have a license plate on my car, so I just kind of... Just keep on trucking?

0

607.241 - 608.541 Uncle Si

You're not going to pay, are you? No.

611.107 - 634.887 Dr. Phil

676.771 - 683.973 Si Robertson

Yeah, think of how much better mood everybody would be in if legal shooting hours during duck season was like 7.05. But see, people complain. Instead of 6.05.

684.674 - 685.434 Dr. Phil

But it really is 50-50.

Chapter 6: What adventure did Carter have on his birthday?

Chapter 7: How does the crew feel about daylight saving time?

334.178 - 334.919 Martin

Yeah, yeah.

0

335.519 - 363.067 Si Robertson

and i was like could you check please as much as i want to show my butt here oh yeah yeah what good is it gonna do and then you know i i'm glad i didn't because like coming home when i got back to dfw the uh the lady working the monroe flight was the one that wouldn't let me on the flight oh good were you nice Yeah, I was polite. Again, the only thing I did was said, I'm on this flight.

0

363.087 - 384.347 Si Robertson

And she's like, sorry, it's closed. I said, are you sure? That's the only thing I did. Pretty please. Yeah. And I said, okay. I mean, I just, as much... The first one was like, man, whatever. When the second one was like that, I was ready to say, no, what you going to do is open that door. One of us leaving here with a butt weapon. I don't know which one of us it is.

0

384.527 - 385.807 Dr. Phil

You going to fight somebody over it?

0

386.147 - 410.002 Si Robertson

I just was so frustrated. Look, I got perfect attendance on all my events. I've never missed one in 13 years of doing them things. I've never missed one. And I didn't want this one to be the one where I started. And I didn't want to, selfishly, I didn't want to drive four hours, right? Like I knew it was an option and I didn't want to keep all them people away.

410.102 - 415.006 Si Robertson

It was everything in me to not call and say, look, bro, they got a flight going back to DFW. I'm going home.

415.646 - 442.44 Si Robertson

but i said you know what what if jesus would have done that to me like what if he just said you know what bro i tried long enough you're out you know i got other stuff i need to do and i ain't gonna worry about you martin so so you drove to ohio i went and got me a dodd ram 2500 that drank gas like you ain't seen lately and i took off buddy and uh and were you flying you went you were supposed to go monroe i was supposed to go monroe dfw to fort wayne indiana

442.774 - 445.655 Dr. Phil

Oh, and since you missed that, you just went to Chicago.

445.676 - 464.685 Si Robertson

Because the other flight going to Fort Wayne didn't get to Fort Wayne until after my event had started, which it turns out wouldn't have mattered because I was going to be late anyway, right? But Chicago had a couple of more options for Fort Wayne, so I was like, well, let me get to Chicago and we'll figure it out from there. And all I figured out was I ended up at the Hertz deal.

Chapter 8: What are the humorous moments involving Jase and surprise visits?

786.49 - 787.431 Si Robertson

Who was it, Sweet Pea?

0

787.751 - 789.033 Martin

No, it was a stupid speaker.

0

791.38 - 792.48 Si Robertson

Your speaker was beaten?

0

792.88 - 794.621 Martin

No, it busted.

0

795.021 - 795.141 Si Robertson

Oh.

795.501 - 799.502 Martin

Because look, one day I went somewhere. Look, I come out.

799.522 - 801.343 Si Robertson

That's what it sounds like. That's because you jam.

801.523 - 836.407 Martin

Yeah, and I hit the release button for the truck to unlock. When the step come out, I stepped up on it. And then when I stepped up on it, I haven't touched nothing else. And I hear pow. And I mean, it's like a .22 rifle. All I hear is pow, y'all. So I get in and turn the ignition. It starts and everything's all right. But it's like all of a sudden just pow, boom. Hmm. Static. Well, Johnny Deacon.

836.548 - 839.709 Martin

I figured, you know, Phil said, finance it. He said, you speak blue.
