44.162 - 45.082 Detective

It was a baffling case.

46.71 - 50.073 Detective

To have missing women in this town of Ashland is a big deal.

50.473 - 52.815 Detective

A huge deal. Unusual. Very, very unusual.

53.196 - 61.242 Unknown Speaker

Elizabeth was very naive. She would trust anybody and everybody. She was like, why haven't I heard from her and I can't find her?

63.184 - 68.048 Detective

The last known images of Elizabeth Griffith were recorded while she was shopping inside this Walmart.

Chapter 2: What makes the case of Elizabeth Griffith baffling?

392.668 - 417.303 Unknown Speaker

Elizabeth was a really sweet girl, a simple person. She liked to make people laugh. She liked to sing. She loved to worship. She would raise her hand the highest during worship. Even though she was tone deaf, she'd sing louder than anyone else. She was very much with the heart of a child. It was a little harder for her to grasp some things sometimes.

418.223 - 428.268 Unknown Speaker

She was a very loving person and a very loyal person. Certainly financial challenges, certainly medical challenges, mental health challenges.

429.869 - 443.36 Unknown Speaker

She lived on her own in her own apartment. She did have a case manager that kind of helped her with daily life struggles. She was always introducing herself to everybody, very outgoing.

445.481 - 450.684 Unknown Speaker

The community knew Elizabeth and she was one of ours and she was taken care of.

453.005 - 458.807 Detective

But then Elizabeth's support team realizes no one has seen her in weeks.

459.608 - 483.066 Unknown Speaker

We were at LifeWorks and the phone rang and it was Elizabeth's case manager and she had asked if we had seen Elizabeth lately. She was like, I can't find her. So I called her cell phone, and it just went straight to voicemail, which was highly unlikely for Elizabeth. I was like, something's not right.

483.926 - 486.786 Unknown Speaker

I was concerned, because where would she have gone?

487.067 - 493.628 Police Officer

What could have happened? She wasn't the type of person that would go missing, so we sort of knew something was wrong there.

495.62 - 506.106 Detective

This is an area where I would often see Elizabeth Griffith walking. And just days before her disappearance, I stopped and chatted with her right up here.

Chapter 3: How did the 911 call change the course of the investigation?

1359.889 - 1371.231 Police Officer

Absolutely. A horror movie. We went to the door, it was locked, and I asked the dispatcher to relay to her that she needed to unlock the door.

0

1371.251 - 1374.714 Unknown Speaker

Can you unlock the door at all?

0

1375.975 - 1380.819 Police Officer

She's able to unlock it and we're able to open it.

0

1380.94 - 1384.703 Unknown Speaker

Where is he? Okay, they have her.

0

1391.846 - 1400.192 Detective

It took 19 long minutes to get her out. What was it like when you finally hear Detective Dorsey?

1400.212 - 1408.278 Unknown Speaker

It was the best sound ever. I was glad because the officers were safe. She was safe.

1409.338 - 1410.179 Unknown Speaker

You smiled a little.

1410.199 - 1411.22 Unknown Speaker

Yeah.

1411.24 - 1411.88 Unknown Speaker

Was you proud of her?

Chapter 4: What details emerged about Elizabeth Griffith's life?

3268.512 - 3273.915 Detective

What was it like to finally find this woman and give it some closure?

0

3274.575 - 3278.878 Detective

Like I wanted to go down to the ravine and rescue her, but she's gone.

0

3281.454 - 3310.849 Detective
