Chapter 1: What is the significance of the Met Gala 2025?
And it's like, it is really nice to see somebody like use all of her big moments to promote her,
her motherhood you know yeah she's not promoting fenty she's promoting just like her family i also feel like there's a big conversation well always because people are always talking about women but also like just women in general and becoming moms and working and how do you be a successful woman and then i have children and like people push it off and i love that she's just doing it like another one
No, if I had a billion dollar company, I would also be doing it at all times.
You wouldn't feel like, no, now's not the time. We've got to take Fenty to the next level. There's always more you can do. So I think her being like, everyone on pause. I'm putting my family first. I think it's a great example for women.
It is, but like, it's not relatable because I think so much of what people, not everyone, but a lot of women like wait financially, right? Like it's a lot of pressure to like have a baby and it's really expensive. And that's what Mindy Kaling said once. And she was like, I'm so lucky. Like I literally designed my life. I made all this money. And then I was able to have kids the way that I wanted.
Like, that's not how it normally works for people. So like, yes, it's really inspiring, but it's not applicable to everyone because I'm
I think a lot of people waiting for like, if you can't afford a child yet, but I'm talking about like women who are kind of crushing it in their careers who are like, this is not like they have, it's not about the money. It's like they want to reach all these benchmarks before they have kids. And it just never feels like the right time. And it really never is the right time.
But at a certain point you have to like make the choice. Like I'm going to put this on pause. And so that Rihanna is doing it one after the other. I think it's a great example.
Yeah. It's nice. It's idyllic for sure.

All right, let's dive in again. We are on the Vogue. Check the link in our description. Follow along with us.
Follow along with us. As a reminder, this year, the event celebrated super fine tailoring black style, which is on view at the Met from May 10th to October 26th. The new showcase explores the importance of clothing and style to the formation of black identities in the Atlantic diaspora. and will be arranged by 12 characteristics of black dandyism.
To reflect the theme this year, the dress code for the Met Gala was dubbed Tailored for You, a sartorial mood that is purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation. The exhibition holds a strong focus on menswear and suiting, and so we saw many Met Gala looks leaning into tailoring. That was one of the words of the night, tailor-made.
If you wore any type of suit, tuxedo, you were automatically in dress code marked safe. You can be in theme and then we can decide from there. Some people truly showed up saying, and they were admitting this in her interview, Anne Hathaway, like, yeah, no, I'm not in theme. I'm here to...
She took a page out of Andre Leon Talley's book who is like an example of black dandyism. She just went like very direct inspired by him.

Chapter 3: How did Rihanna's pregnancy influence her Met Gala appearance?
Her hands are by her side and she's just really carrying herself so sophisticated. I'm like, oh, my God, all these other people look so sophisticated.
silly like she's like she's not even trying without someone carrying her dress behind her and giving her hands on each side like she's just comfortable she's moving well and she looks incredible
There was also an actress from Shogun, I forget her name, who wore something extremely similar. And everybody's like, I can't believe Law Roach would put Zendaya in something. I just want to be clear. These were two completely different outfits. Yes, they were both white suits and white hats. And they were like aesthetically pretty much the same.
But it was literally that scene in Devil Wears Prada. Like, first of all, Zendaya's outfit is tailored, which is, I think, also like a huge point in her column for the theme. Like the pants are tailored so perfectly. It's the crazy. I've never seen a suit so well tailored. It's also giving Meredith Blake.
Yeah. No, I thought it was fantastic. Like fantastic. Top of the heap. Agreed. Next, we have Hailey Bieber, who I think really shocked everyone in the simplicity of the outfit. Looks like something you wear to dinner with the girls. She wore a blazer, a black blazer dress, tights and heels and just beautiful glam like didn't do the most. So I was surprised by that. But she looks great.
But it's like not showstopping.
Yeah. I mean, it's technically a blazer. So she's she's a team. Right. I'm just not in a place in my life where I'm going to say negative things about Hailey Bieber. I just feel like she gets enough of that. So it was not my favorite look of hers. It was not super inspiring or different or risky. But maybe she just doesn't want to be talked about like it's like enough.
So she just wanted to wear a safe outfit. That's what I that's if I'm reading too deep into this. That's what I'm reading.
perhaps it just feels like if you or i or anyone were invited to the mecca this was the theming you had to pick something from your closet like this is what you would wear you'd be in theme but you're not going to be like the most exciting like remember when she wore that thong yeah like of course that's the best look ever the best look ever so yep i don't know um i don't know i feel like it's actually reflective of like the place she's in in her life she does not want to be spoken about yeah like she had she had to go to the mecca for work
