Chapter 2: How is the AFD party challenging Germany's political landscape?
And how are the Democrats reacting? Well, this is Bernie Sanders saying Elon Musk is helping fund right-wing extremists all over the world. They are so disorganized. They don't know which target to hit. They can't even remember all the things Trump is doing. Play cut 109.
Do you feel that you have oversight when it comes to what Elon Musk is doing? No, of course not.
Look, what we're seeing right now, Caitlin, is a very dangerous moment. I'm laughing here, but it is not funny. This country is moving very rapidly under Trump into an authoritarian form of society. Elon Musk is clearly running the show, the wealthiest person in the world who has enormous conflicts of interests.
who is helping to fund right wing extremist organizations all over the world, who is looking forward to get massive tax breaks from Congress. He's running the show.
So they're yammering a lot on TV, a lot of clamoring, a lot of chatter. What does this mean? Well, this is the most important piece of tape we're going to play today. The electorate has been remade. The work that we are doing in the grassroots at Turning Point Action, the work that we are resuming tomorrow on college campuses, the country is becoming profoundly more right-wing.
The way that people get news, we only, the news is now something that you talk about happened. Did you see that clip of that person or that? You don't actually watch the news as much anymore. It's like little snippets of seeing little eventful moments and that's it. It's no longer monetizable the way it once was. It's white noise. But Donald Trump has remade the electorate. Play cut 111.
Donald Trump and the Republican Party has changed the electorate. What do I mean by that? Well, let's take a look at party identification, Democrats versus Republicans. You go back to 2017, five points more of the electorate was Democrats than Republicans. You go to 2021 when Joe Biden was starting out, look at that, six points more of the electorate was Democrats than Republicans.
But look at what's happened in February of 2025. Look at this. Republicans. There are more Republicans in the electorate than there are Democrats. Republican plus two. So Donald Trump and the Republicans have remade the electorate. They've turned some people over from being Democrats or independents to become Republicans. New folks have entered the electorate who are more Republican leaning.
And so when you combine that with the fact that Republicans are really, really behind Donald Trump, all of a sudden you get a winning recipe whereby you break the normal rules of politics and give Donald Trump that positive net approval rating.
