Chapter 2: How are Trump's tariffs affecting Wall Street?
The Dow fell another 1,300 points when the markets opened today, only to rebound amid rumors of a tariff pause and then fall again once those rumors turned out to be just rumors. Ultimately, by midday, the Dow was down nearly 1,000 points, while the S&P fell near bear market territory and made ongoing threats of retaliatory measures from China and others.
Chapter 3: What is the EU's response to US tariffs?
The EU did, however, extend an olive branch of sorts, offering a zero-for-zero trade deal with the U.S. after President Trump imposed steep tariffs on European imports. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen did however caution that they were ready to strike back.
Meanwhile, in an effort to bring Beijing to the bargaining table, Trump is threatening additional 50% tariff hikes on China if they do not back down on their 34% rate against US goods.
Chapter 4: How are US-China trade relations evolving?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met President Trump at the White House today. Israel faces a 17% levy under Trump's Liberation Day plan, which surprised Israeli officials amid ongoing war and economic strain. The two leaders will hold joint press conferences this afternoon. Netanyahu hopes to reach an agreement with Trump regarding the duties they're currently forced to pay.

Several schools claim the move has left students in limbo with limited explanation from federal officials.

In a horrific turn of events Sunday, four kids were attacked with a meat cleaver by a relative. Police say an 11-year-old called 911 from a locked room, prompting NYPD officers to kick down the door. The girls, ages 8 to 16, are in serious condition but are expected to survive. Here's NYPD's commissioner explaining what officers saw when they arrived.
Once they entered, they encountered a man standing near the entrance holding a large meat cleaver covered in blood, and they could see blood on the floor and the walls of the home. The officers ordered the man to drop the weapon several times. He refused and advanced towards them.
Two officers discharged their firearms, firing seven total rounds between them and striking the subject, ending the threat.
A new bill in New York would prevent police from conducting routine stops and searches for low-level violations. Currently, police are able to stop and search vehicles over things like broken taillights, expired tags and registrations, window tints, and the smell of marijuana. Such searches are often used to uncover more serious crimes.
