I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley. It's Monday, January 6th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
Last night over dinner. I told my kids about the decision that I'm sharing with you today.
Amid mounting calls for his resignation and battled, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is stepping down. Daily Wire deputy managing editor Tim Rice has the latest.
Trudeau made the announcement today after nearly a decade in office. The prime minister says he asked the president of the Liberal Party to begin the process of selecting its next leader and will hang on to power until one is chosen. Trudeau faced cratering approval ratings as living costs and government spending both skyrocketed.
The resignation of his finance minister, Christia Freeland, last month further fueled criticism of his leadership. His resignation comes as recent polls show his party lagging far behind the conservative party, led by Pierre Palliev, ahead of an election expected by late October.
This country deserves a real choice in the next election. And it has become clear to me that if I'm having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election.
A major winter storm is slamming parts of the U.S. with heavy snow and freezing rain, including in D.C., where Congress made Trump's electoral victory official. Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips has the details.
The National Weather Service is urging residents in hard-hit areas like the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest to avoid non-essential travel, with untreated roads already impassable in many regions. The storm, which started on the West Coast, has caused flight cancellations, accidents, and even thrown Washington, D.C. for a loop.
