GLOBAL SUPPLY OF OIL IS GETTING SQUEEZED AT THE STRAIGHT-OF-WAR MOVES, AND OFFICIALS HERE HAVE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE IN THE WORLD FOR SOME OIL, AND THEY HAVE FOUND IT ON SOME TANKERS THAT ARE FULL OF SANCTIONED RUSSIAN OIL.
IT IS SANCTIONED, OF COURSE, BECAUSE RUSSIA WILL NOT STOP THE WAR IN UKRAINE.
SO THE TREASURY SECRETARY, SCOTT BESSEN, IS SAYING THIS.

We're going to keep prices low as we address the threat and instability posed by the terrorist Iranian regime.
To increase the global reach of existing supply, U.S.
Treasury is providing a temporary authorization to permit countries to purchase Russian oil currently stranded at sea.
This narrowly tailored short-term measure applies only to oil already in transit and will not provide significant financial benefit to the Russian government.
There's two other levers that they are going to pull.
They might waive the Jones Act, which says that only U.S.
flagships can go from U.S.
port to U.S.
port.
And they do plan to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
Because we are very smart people who have been incentivized, who have worked very hard.
But you know what?
Not you.
