Chapter 1: Why is it important to take a break during the holidays?

0.069 - 22.046 Host

When you don't allow yourself to rest, what you're actually doing is you're creating tension with yourself. And it's all fine and good, but there's going to come a point where it's the most rizziest time of the year. The holidays are here. Have a cup of cheer. And under your Christmas tree, you're probably going to have socks and underwear.

Chapter 2: What should we focus on during the holidays?

22.066 - 40.259 Host

Because that's seemingly, since I've turned 21, that is the only thing that's under my Christmas tree. Which is awesome, because I do need those from time to time. But the holidays are here, and I feel as if during the holidays, there are a few things that we focus on. One of them is we spend time with the ones we love. Second one is we celebrate.

41.1 - 73.279 Host

We enjoy the holidays for what they're worth, and we enjoy the fact that the year is over, basically. And three... We get to chill. We get to relax, which in today's world where you have notifications 24 seven on teams and on your, on your school assignments, you know, all day, you're just getting no, no, you need rest. You need to rest. Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

Chapter 3: How can we effectively relax and recharge?

74.73 - 103.492 Host

It's okay to feel drained. It's okay to feel tired. If you're in school, every single day has been lock-in city. You just got off of finals like you were doing everything to be goaded. You can chill out. You can lay in bed for a day and watch TV and nothing bad will happen. It's fine. I myself am planning to D1 chill.

0

104.893 - 133.613 Host

I am going to watch TV show after TV show after movie after movie after movie after movie because I want to relax. Because you know what? I'm going to admit it. I worked pretty damn hard. I worked hard. I put in the hours. I put in the effort. I stayed hungry. We devour. No Dwayne The Rock Johnson. Shout out The Rock. But I want to chill. I want to chill. And I need to rest. I need to rest.

When you don't allow yourself to rest, what you're actually doing is you're creating tension with yourself. And it's all fine and good. But there's going to come a point where this happens. And suddenly the two plates overlap. And just like the earth, there's an earthquake. And the earthquake will then cause a tsunami of burnout. And it's going to flood your mind. It's going to flood your body.

Chapter 4: What are some signs of burnout?

159.313 - 183.757 Host

You are going to be tired. Like, very tired. And you won't be able to do the things that you like because you are burnt out and you need to rest. Your body is screaming for you. Hey, you've overworked me. Like, I need chill. And listen... Everyone's chill meters are different. Some people, they need minimal amount of chill. They can do stuff every single day and they don't need to rest.

184.018 - 208.107 Host

Their mind is just always on it. But other people, they need to relax. Like every day. They need an hour or two where they can just chill, watch a TV show, scroll some brain rot. I don't judge. Skibbity toilet is fire. It's incredible. But they just need to relax. And you got to kind of find your... your level on the meter.

Chapter 5: How do different people define their chill?

209.168 - 231.068 Host

You got to find, okay, do I need a lot of chill or do I need a little bit of chill or do I need somewhere in between? And then you got to determine what does your chill look like? What does you actually resting look like? Is it laying in bed? Because I know for me, I can lay in bed for like a day, but the next day I'm like, we got to go. I don't feel comfortable just chilling in my bed all day.

231.188 - 258.385 Host

I don't like it. My form of relaxation is I love to journal. I love writing. I love scrapbooking. When I do that, I can just shut off my brain and I can write for hours and it's chill. Another thing is doing something crafty, building something, building a model. playing around with some cardboard and figuring out how to build a, you know, I don't know, the Burj Khalifa out of it. Who cares?

Chapter 6: What activities can help in relaxation?

259.066 - 283.649 Host

You gotta find something that makes you feel relaxed. Burnout is very real. It's so real. It's so draining. It gets to a point where you feel like you're doing the motions, but you're not getting any kind of dopamine or any kind of satisfaction from the things that you're doing. And it kills any motivation to keep going.

0

Chapter 7: How does burnout affect our motivation?

285.01 - 312.126 Host

And usually it's because we overexert ourselves and we don't give ourselves that time to just chill out, to just relax. And it's because we have a lot of pressure on us. We do, especially now. The pressure to all the time be doing something and be interesting. You have to post stories that you're at the Christmas market. Like, no you don't. You really don't have to do that.

0

314.708 - 340.988 Host

Maybe your Christmas is just sitting on the couch with your family, and that's a great Christmas. That is a great way to spend Christmas. Maybe your Christmas is making gingerbread cookies. with the bros. It's also a great thing to do over Christmas, but don't feel like your Christmas is mid because you're not being productive. Like, no, you earned it. You need to rest.

0

343.648 - 373.124 Host

But what if I didn't earn it? Ask yourself, are you tired? Yeah, I am tired. Then you need to rest. Then you need to rest. And that's a conversation you honestly have to have with yourself. Because we know when we've been chilling a little too hard. When you've told yourself, no, I've been good, I've been working. And you have not. So be honest. Do you feel tired? Yeah? You need rest.

0

374.184 - 400.843 Host

Simple as that. You need rest. Do you feel tired? No. Then you don't need rest. Then cool, go out and do something. It's the internal dialogue you have to have with yourself. You've got to understand where you stand. You get me? You've got to understand where you stand. Are you standing on burnout territory? Because that's dangerous territory. Or are you chilling? Are you D1 chilling?

402.665 - 403.426 Host

Check in with yourself.

404.022 - 410.087 Host

Was du aus deiner Zukunft auch machst. Wir können alles was kommt. Das Handwerk.

432.046 - 437.227 Host

Ask yourself these questions. But allow yourself to rest this holiday season, man. Relax.

458.643 - 478.788 Host

Okay, this 2025 is coming and the way in which you rest and allow yourself to chill out right now is going to pay dividends when the year starts because you're going to feel refreshed. You're going to feel ready to go and you're going to feel like you've taken the pressure off and you can just focus on doing the things you love and doing the things you want to do.

478.808 - 508.724 Host

You got some time during the holidays. Make it happen. Zerky show. We gotta relax. We gotta chill. We gotta learn how to rest. It's been a long year. It's been a great year. But let's relax and let's enjoy the holidays for what they're worth. Two quick announcements. The first one, we are in unprecedented times. But the Zerky Show is committed to stay and be here for you every day.
