What does the host's mother's story teach about change?

But that advice is worthless unless you apply it to something. You know, me telling you, you need to start is worthless. If after this, you just go, yo, he's spitting facts. And then you keep scrolling. How did you do it? Is the question I always ask my mom. Whenever I see her, it doesn't add up to me, her life being born in Poland, growing up, doing a hundred different things.

You know, then on top of that being like, you know what, I want to be a German teacher, moving to Germany, realizing I ain't going to do that. Going back to Poland, getting her master's degree and then dropping everything she built for herself.

She had a comfortable life, was making good money, chilling, traveling Europe, working business to all of a sudden she dropped everything and moved to the United States to flip burgers and make sunny side eggs at a camp for kids. Why? Why would you do that? You literally had the cheat code in Europe. What, are you crazy? And it's insane to me she regrets none of those decisions.

She's like, I love it. It brought me to where I am today. Bruh. It's interesting to hear the perspective of my mom who's lived, you know, double the life that I have so far and hearing her approach new things in her life. My mom is someone who I think always tries new things, always is so open to learning and eager to just give something a shot.

And I think that the main thing that I've learned from my mother is that if there's something that you want to do, it is a risk that you want to take, it is a new hobby you want to get into, you need to start. It's really that simple. It's really that simple. How do you start something? Well, one way of doing it is throwing yourself into it.

That's kind of what my meta was with going to this place. Go Dawgs! You know, going to Georgia. When it came down to college, I had the privilege to be able to pick where I wanted to go. Except some places that I picked were like 70 bands, bro! That's a rolly, rolly, rolly with a dab of ranch. I already got some designers to hold up my pants. Real ones will remember that song.

That'll choke hold on every middle schooler. In 2015. If you know, you know. You had to be there. Anyways, I was craving an experience that was just different from what I had grown up in. A lot of kids that, you know, I grew up around, they were like, I'm going to U of I. I'm going to UIC. And I was like, UIC you later. I wanted to just try something new.

175.174 - 198.631 Host

I wanted to really challenge myself and go someplace that I had no business going to and just making something happen. And, you know, I spent a lot of time like thinking about where that place was going to be and like how I was going to make friends and all this stuff. And honestly, you don't really know how something is going to pan out until you start it, until you just kind of give it a shot.

And what people say about like the best kind of lessons are really learned on the job. It's true. It's true. You learn the best lessons doing the thing. And I think that you are able to apply knowledge a lot easier. to something when you do it. And I want to make sure that you're cognizant of this because I think that there are a lot of people that give out advice and that's awesome.
