ideas are worthless without execution. I urge you to just take the first step. it could change everything. https://linktr.ee/thezurkieshow
Chapter 1: How can you turn dreams into action?
Your glow up is a great idea, but you actually doing it sustainably and in a good way and in a healthy way, that's the action. That's what makes it valuable. I remember a time when things were still cheap. A couple times a year in middle school, we had early dismissal. And if you were in middle school, you know what that meant.
Chapter 2: What were the nostalgic moments of middle school?
It meant the entire seventh and eighth grade class made the pilgrimage to the nearest McDonald's. It was roughly a 10, 12 minute walk. No small feat for a middle schooler. And we would use our quarters, nickels, and dimes to buy the finest food in the land. A cheeseburger and McChicken. And those were great times. Because all that was cheap and it was fun.
And after we were done eating, we would run around the play place and take Snapchat selfies with the dog filter on it. You guys remember that? It was awesome. But now it's 2025 and things are not cheap. A date at, you know what I'm going to say, right? A date at Chili's is $60. It's not cheap. But there is one thing that's still relatively inexpensive. I would say it's dirt cheap.
Chapter 3: Why do we often fail to act on our ideas?
And I'm doing it right now. talk talking is cheap and sadly a lot of people in our lives will make promises they will say things we will even say things that we never do stop yapping start acting I feel passion for this because this is me this is Zerky Show Coded I was someone who would chronically talk about the things I wanted to do and never act on them.
Partially because I didn't believe in what I was saying. I just thought that the things I was saying were cool. And I would say a bunch of things, but mainly they revolved around my passions. I always wanted to be a filmmaker. That was a big thing for me. I wanted to make good vlogs and movies and interview people. That was always something I felt passionate about. And I would do it...
I mean, I would tell people my ideas and then I would go film and I would keep all the ideas, all the footage on a hard drive and it never, to this day, has seen the light of day. Why? Why? It's because of expectations. That's what I think it is. I think the reason that we yap and we don't do is because when we app, which is the easy thing to do, there are expectations.
Chapter 4: What role do expectations play in our goals?
When you tell somebody that you want to start running every day, there is an expectation that you will run every day.
and if you don't run one of the days the expectation is gone and that's not a sustainable way to think about goals or think about anything because there are days that i don't run i don't work out there are days i don't even get out of bed there are days i don't work on the things that i want to work on there are days that are mid. There are days that are just whatever.
But the problem is when we put these expectations on ourselves, when we tell other people what we want to do, those days, they add up. They add up because we get in this habit of, all right, well, we already messed up once. So we're just going to keep messing up and we're just going to keep delaying. And I told this client that I was going to get them this
this project done by this date, but whatever. I'm already like two days behind and I'm going to make it 10. Oh, well, I told this person I was going to get my grades up, but I'm already slipping. So what's the point? The point is you keep doing it. That's the point.
Chapter 5: How to overcome the fear of failing to meet expectations?
You keep doing it. And for some of us, maybe not having that expectation is the best thing. I did not tell anyone.
that I was going to pick up a camera and start yapping into it in a park. Did not tell a single soul that. I just did it. I stopped yapping and I started acting. That's really what happened. It's as simple as that. I didn't tell anybody, I'm going to have the craziest glow up. No. I started buying better food. I started looking out for myself.
Chapter 6: What are the benefits of acting without sharing your plans?
I started trying to fix my sleep schedule, which has not been fixed. I'm still going to bed at 1.30 a.m. every night, and it is bad, and I'm going to do my best to not do that tonight. No promises. No promises. I'm at least honest about it. I don't know. So...
Maybe the detrimental thing right now is the fact that you're building expectations for yourself that you don't even know if you can keep up. And there is a difference between setting a goal and being like, I want to do this. I want to attempt this. That's great. I'm all for that. You should do that. But if you're yapping with no evidence, good luck. Good luck. It's hard.
It's hard to sustain that. And the worst thing about all of that was when I was telling people I was trying to be a filmmaker and I would film and I created this reputation of not finishing any of the projects I started. It was the little comments that got me. It would be like the, oh, Zerky filmed it. It's never coming out. Because it was true. Because it was true. It was true and it hurt.
I made this expectation for myself that I just could not keep up. There was no way I was going to keep that up. So sometimes the best thing is to stop yapping and start acting. And this doesn't mean like don't tell people your goals at all. I know I've made a video similar to that topic. I think that having accountability is important.
But make sure that the people that are holding you accountable, they also have things that they want to be held accountable for. Because sometimes our friends are our best cheerleaders, but oftentimes they're not. They're not. Especially when you're going out of your comfort zone. You have to be ready for people to be like, I don't get this. I don't know why you're spending time with this.
This is stupid. And have to be like, well... I guess, but I'm still going to do it anyways. And that is a difficult thing. It's a very difficult thing to do. But actions always speak louder than words. And I have found that you get to a point where your actions start to be very loud. They start to be like
You know, that one guy at the library that for some reason is talking to every person he knows on FaceTime while you are trying to study for like the final exam that determines if you pass college. It becomes like that loud. And it won't happen right away. It takes small steps of time. But once your actions start to speak, you build momentum and people start to listen.
Because at first people will not listen. They'll be like, what is bro doing? Who does he think he is? And then after it starts to speak, after you show up, during the times that you don't want to show up, when you put things out when you don't want to put things out, when you go against every perfectionist bone in your body to do it, people always notice.

Chapter 7: How to set realistic goals for better success?
They might not admit it to you because that would take humility. That would take them realizing they were wrong. But to say that hard work goes completely unnoticed No, Ben, it's not true. It's not true. But the only way you get that is by not yapping and acting, acting on it. And for a lot of us, the problem is that we set our goals just unrealistically.
We don't make them realistic at all to what we can do. And I find that when you set a goal to something that is more realistic, that is more reachable, you are more likely to do it. And that is important because then you can set the next goal that is a little bit higher up, but it's going to be a little bit easier to reach because you have the momentum of the last goal.
Stacking the wins time and time again. So powerful. It's the same thing of like when you start running, when you start weightlifting, when you start anything, you're going to be a novice. You're not going to be good at the beginning.
usually but if you just do a little bit do a little bit if you're getting into sewing you make your first t-shirt and it took you 40 hours to make it okay you learn and you're like okay i made this t-shirt that means i can make this t-shirt it'll take me 40 hours let me try it again let me see if i can make that same t-shirt but instead of 40 hours let's shoot for 35 30 if i can get 30 hours on this that means i'm getting quicker that means it's a good thing
But that progress, that feeling of making small incremental gains outweighs any kind of yapping and trying to chase. And for a lot of us, we have to be humble. On some Kendrick Lamar, we have to be humble. And oftentimes we have to be humbled in order to be humble. And that hits your ego. That hits your ego hard.
Because once you realize, oh, I was telling everybody that I'm going to be an influencer. I'm not going to go to college. And it's second semester of senior year of high school. And I have to go to community college because I don't need college. College, I don't need it. I'm going to be the next big streamer. But all you were doing was this. All you were doing was yapping.
That won't be a fun conversation to have with yourself. It won't. And that was the conversation I had with myself. Because I was a little egotistical high schooler who thought I knew it. I had it all on lock. But instead of trying something, doing anything, I did nothing. And I'm glad. I'm glad it happened that way. I would have not learned to be humble.
I would have not learned what I'm actually good at. Takes time. These things take time, but there are some of us who have delusional dreams and delusion is a good thing. It is a good thing because sometimes you need a big North star to chase. You do, and you should have big goals. You should have those.
But you also have to understand that once you start putting in work towards something, once you realize that the people that seem like they have it easy, they work the most, then you realize, uh-oh, I got to stop yapping and I got to start acting.
