Chapter 4: What is the significance of the December 8 allegations?
She claims she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Combs.
I'm DailyMail.com journalist Marjorie Hernandez. And over the last six months, I've been investigating this incredible story and speaking to the people in the eye of the storm. Welcome to the trial of Diddy.
Hey everyone, I'm Kayla Brantley and welcome to a very special episode of the Trial of Diddy podcast. Today we have a super quick update because on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, Jay-Z was pulled into the heart of the Diddy case and he found himself having to deny allegations that he drugged and raped a 13-year-old girl alongside Diddy during an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000.
Now, the original federal lawsuit, which had only named Sean Combs, has now been refiled by Texas-based attorney Tony Busby. Busby, who we've spoken a lot about on this show. Now, it cites the accuser known only as Jane Doe, who alleges that she was assaulted at the house party by the two superstars. And she also alleges that an unnamed female celebrity was in the room at the time.
The lawsuit states that the 13-year-old girl was drugged and raped by both Jay-Z and Diddy at a party hosted by Diddy himself. The accuser alleges that Jay-Z and Combs actually took turns raping her at the party after she had consumed a drink that made her feel, quote, woozy and lightheaded.
She says she later escaped by hitting Combs in the neck as he assaulted her before running to a gas station where she was picked up by her father. Now, of course, Jay-Z has already come out hitting back at these accusations. In a lengthy statement on X, Jay-Z, whose real name is Sean Carter, said, quote, Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away.
Would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case. This lawyer, who I have done a bit of research on, seems to have a pattern of these types of theatrics. Now the lawyer that Jay-Z is referring to, as we said before, is Tony Busby. He'd previously sent Jay-Z a letter seeking to mediate a settlement.
Now Busby said the lawsuit, quote, speaks for itself and that this is, quote, a very serious matter that will be litigated in court. Jay-Z's statement went on to offer support to, quote, So those are very harsh words there by Jay-Z. He stated that Busby's, quote, terrible error in judgment was assuming the same thing about all celebrities. I'm not from your world, Jay-Z wrote.
I'm a young man who made it out of the projects of Brooklyn. We don't play these games. We have very strict codes and honor. Now, Jay-Z goes on to say we protect children. And then he's speaking to Busby directly when he says you seem to exploit people for personal gain. Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, which we think he means to say psychics there.
