And to my knowledge, when I was reading it this morning, I didn't see it. Um, and that's okay. Basically what I was talking about last episode was that Jesus like tells Peter that he's going to deny him three times. Imagine Peter beating himself up after he denied Jesus three times. Right.

And then there's this encounter we have in the gospels where we read that Peter meets with the resurrected Jesus and Jesus tells him exactly how he's going to die. Why would he do that? He told him exactly how he was died, how he was going to die to encourage them that he would endure till the end that he would endure till the end for him. Now, let's read Luke chapter 24.

Chapter 2: What significant events occur after Jesus' resurrection?

112.921 - 128.651 Bryce Crawford

And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, these men said to them, why do you seek the living among the dead? He's not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you while he was still in Galilee that the son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.

And they remembered his words and returning from the tomb, they told all these things to the 11 and to all the rest. Now, this is powerful. If Jesus had simply died and didn't resurrect, then there would be no power in Christ. But the fact that he raised from the dead and defeated death means that in him, we too can defeat eternal death and separation from him and have forgiveness for our sins.

Chapter 3: How do the disciples react to the resurrection?

153.857 - 172.646 Bryce Crawford

Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary and the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles. But these words seemed to them an idle tale. They did not believe them. So the women came back and were like, you guys will not believe what just happened to us. We saw two angels and they told us that Jesus had resurrected.

And we remembered that Jesus had told us this, but we didn't remember it. But then we did remember it when he told us. You can't believe it. He's alive. And they're all like, you're kidding me. That's not true. And so they didn't believe him. But Peter rose and ran to the tomb, stooping and looking in. He saw the linen clothes by themselves and went home marveling at what had happened.

That very day, two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all the things that had happened. While they were still talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. So Jesus was amongst them, but they didn't recognize him.

Chapter 4: What does Jesus explain to the travelers on the road to Emmaus?

Chapter 5: What does the resurrection mean for believers?

Chapter 6: Why is the resurrection pivotal in Christianity?

129.292 - 152.246 Bryce Crawford

And they remembered his words and returning from the tomb, they told all these things to the 11 and to all the rest. Now, this is powerful. If Jesus had simply died and didn't resurrect, then there would be no power in Christ. And he said to them, What is this conversation that you were holding with each other as you walk? And they stood still, looking sad. They were sad about the death of Jesus Christ. And one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days? And he said to them, What things?

226.764 - 244.357 Bryce Crawford

And they said to him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet, mighty indeed, and word before God and all the people. And now our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death and crucified him. But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.

244.777 - 259.663 Bryce Crawford

Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb earlier this morning. And they did not find his body. They came back saying that they had seen a vision of angels who had said he was alive. Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.

260.764 - 275.797 Bryce Crawford

And he said to them, O foolish ones and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Like, dude, he's like, dude, are you guys kidding me? The prophets have been speaking about this, the death and resurrection of me. Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?

276.317 - 309.49 Bryce Crawford

And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. So he went back and talked about Moses and all the prophets that had talked about the Messiah dying and rising again. Keep in mind that their eyes were opened when they ate a meal. And he vanished from their sight.
