Chapter 1: What happened in the Wolves vs. Thunder Game 3?
Good morning, sweet world, and welcome to the No Dunks Podcast presented by Amazon Prime. It's Sunday, May 25th, 2025. I'm J.E. Skeets, here in the yard, solo dolo like I'm Kid Cudi. Though that's not actually true because I'm here with the stream team. Hello to everybody on YouTube. Love to see you here on a Sunday morning, early on a Sunday morning.

The old guest room that we turned into a gym slash solo podcast studio slash tiny little basketball court. Yeah, no bed here. We're back to normal. Even on Friday, we were back in the classic factory. So we are here for a quick one today. Talk about last night's game.
Wolves making things interesting. And then we can look ahead a little bit. Talk a bit about Friday night's Pacers win. We got game three tonight in Indy. What a day in Indianapolis. Indy 500 goes right into a Pacers-Knicks game. Well, not right into it. They're not going to drive the cars. The winning car will not drive into the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. But you know what I mean.
Busy day Sunday there in Indy. But let's start with last night's game, which was Saturday night. And like I said, things got a little interesting now because after two discouraging losses on the road, the Wolves ran circles around the Thunder in Game 3 last night. The Wolves led by as many as 45 points in the 143-101 victory. They have a chance to even up the series on Monday, Memorial Day.
That's tomorrow. This was the second most lopsided loss by a number one seed in NBA playoff history. I got a few other crazy stats or by the numbers for you a little bit later when we talk about this game or when we wrap it up. But the Wolves took a 34-14 lead in the first quarter and ran away with it from there. By the third quarter, you know, it was a 42-point lead.
And then we had OKC waving the white flag. My question for everybody in the stream team right now and all the podcast listeners is, when did you call it?
what play or what moment of this game were you like okay that's a wrap i'm uh gonna do something else with my saturday night watch something else go out depending where you are here in the world uh let me know i think it was for me i didn't watch a lot of the fourth quarter stuck with the entire third quarter and it was like remember like ant hit a three started doing his cool celebrations and
And then he hit another jumper where he could have passed to Rudy Gobert, who was wide open, but he was feeling it. Knocked down the jumper. I think that got him to 30, if I remember correctly. And it was like, okay, yeah, that's game. Can't see OKC coming back from this one. We've had some crazy comebacks in the postseason, but not here tonight on Saturday night.

Chapter 2: How did Anthony Edwards perform in Game 3?
And he's like, yeah, this guy. I mean, that's pretty cool. So awesome stuff from him. And I think you're going to see him again. I think you'll see him in stretches at least to, again, just sort of try and match the physicality of OKC. So a few crazy numbers from this one. Shout out to CBS Sports. They had a really great breakdown of all the crazy things from this wild outcome.
OKC is the first team in NBA history to record a 50-point win and a 40-point loss in the same postseason. Minnesota now owns the fourth largest conference finals win in NBA history. 42 points last night. Only been a handful of other conference finals games that ended with a bigger difference. This one's fun. Shea Gildas Alexander.
We talked about how they changed up the defense a little bit on how they played him. He had 14 points. It's his lowest scoring output in a conference finals loss. Excuse me. Is the lowest scoring output in a conference finals loss for a player who won the MVP that season since... Giannis.
Giannis was held to 12 points by my Toronto Raptors in the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals when they did an incredible job on making the wall on Giannis with Kawhi and Serge and Siakam and Marc Gasol and that awesome defensive Raptors team. So I thought that was interesting. Again, an MVP that particular season in a conference finals to hold him to 14 points. Amazing work.
And okay, some of these shots that SGA got, he was hitting in games one and two. Yep. But definitely more focus on him and taking away what he wanted. And there wasn't a lot of stepping into those nice, pretty little mid-range jumpers that he operates with. There wasn't a lot of looks like those. So that's it. If I got on that game, I mean, it was a blowout.
You just now, it sort of becomes like the series becomes on Monday night, right? It's either going to be a 3-1 Thunder lead or it's going to be a 2-2 series. This is great for us NBA fans. I was starting to get a little worried that we're like, are we going to have like two? Is it potentially have two sweeps here in the conference finals on our hands or at least in five?
Maybe we get some series here. Give us some more basketball. Because I don't think, correct me if I'm wrong in the stream team,
um will they ever bump up the start of game one of the NBA finals when both series end super quick they generally don't right they got all these hotels booked and all this media traveling from all over the world they'd like to keep it you know whenever it is scheduled game one I don't have it off the top of my head here um
Maybe they've bumped it up once before, a couple games, because it was such a big gap. But anyway, the point is maybe we don't have to worry about that. Maybe we've got some series here. And I can't wait to see what happens on Monday. Because maybe that'll be the most entertaining game so far of this one.

Chapter 3: What strategies did the Wolves use against SGA?
68 win team, really damn good here in the postseason. Elite defense. I mean, to put up 143 on one of the best defenses we've ever seen. That's something. So we look ahead to Monday night, Memorial Day. Can't wait. Will we get a new Memorial Day miracle or something like that? Let's hope so.

Okay, quickly on the Pacers on Friday night. I'm loving all this Pascal Siakam love. I mean, it's great. Again, as a former Raptors player, we got OG versus Siakam, but this guy... What a great game. I mean, maybe his best... Well, his career best, 39 points. 15-23 shooting for Spicy P. He would not let the Pacers be denied. He was scoring, it felt like, every bucket early in that game.
He went 3-5 from deep. He got to the line. 6-8 there. 5 boards, 3 assists, a steal. It was his night. It's cool to see everyone giving him his flowers. Now, he didn't make All-NBA. We will comment on All-NBA teams on Monday's podcast. Yes, we're going to have a podcast from the Classic Factory with the boys, but... Fun, fun game. Score tied 81-81 going into that final frame.
And that's when the Pacers took control early in the fourth and held off a late Knicks rally to get the victory and put them up 2-0 in the series. Man, Brunson was trying his best. He was hitting some insane shots. He scored 36. He had 11 assists. Now he had some unfortunate plays down the stretch. That involved him. Remember, the Knicks were down three, 30 seconds to go.
Brunson dribbles the ball up the court, but I thought they just killed way too much time before he eventually found Josh Hart for a layup. But 15, 16 seconds, it all went away. Got the Hart layup, though. Okay, now it's a one-point game. But then Brunson commits the foul on the inbounds pass. Which I think was going to be a turnover.

Chapter 4: What role did Terrence Shannon Jr. play in the game?
Now he sort of has to look for the three-pointer that he's got to sort of force up. I think he was worried about them wrapping him up, playing the Fallon game. And so he was like, he saw it, he had a little opening, but he clanked that deep three that would have tied the game up. So again, he was awesome though. Awesome.
Like they're not even in this thing if Brunson isn't in those shots that he was. Just the footwork. Reggie was going nuts, rightfully so, about look at the footwork from this guy. As he just kept, you know, obviously... And then it was cool because then they had to start playing him for all those sort of like crazy fadeaway jumpers that he hits.
And then he could get them on a pump fake and go up and under. He did that a couple times. So, great game from him. But the Pacers are just too much. They're just too goddamn much. I think it was WorldwideWob who does a great job. Obviously, he loves his Knicks. He jumps online and always does his little recap game.
He compared the Pacers-Knicks series, and specifically Indiana, to like a boxing match, and how they are the type of fighter the Pacers are that, you know, they don't ever go for the knockout. So it's just rack up points from the scoreboard, on the scorecard, excuse me. It's just jabs here, set up here, a couple body shots here, but nothing crazy.
Never going for the huge uppercut, never going for the huge hook. Just rack up points, rack up points, rack up points from the scorecard. And to the point where then you get into the later rounds and it's like the opposition, the Knicks in this case, they're like, their corner's telling them, hey man, we're down. We're down here in this match.
We got to go for the haymaker here or we're not going to win because there's only a couple rounds left. Man, I thought that was good because it's how they play. Just the waves of guys, how they continue to run at you. And so far they've had the Knicks sort of playing their type of game here.
but fun fun game fun series huge huge win and we have seen the pacers find the knicks weaknesses over and over and continually attacking them i thought a couple of them that jumped out to me uh siakam in this game anytime josh hart's on him good night he's just he is too big he's too quick and that's been a problem i thought he's had his way with him
Obviously, Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns on defense. We all expected it. We all wondered how they were going to deal with it. And when they are both out there, it is very difficult for the Knicks to get a stop. Because Carlisle and the Pacers wisely just get them both into action. And...
I mean, you can maybe live with the one of them, but when both are involved in it, it's tough, tough, tough, tough. And then even Mitchell Robinson, his piss-poor foul shooting, I thought Carlisle picked the perfect time to employ the hack of Mitch. He's picking his spots with it, and it deflates the crowd and takes them out of their rhythm that they maybe had going.

Chapter 5: How did the Wolves' defense perform in Game 3?
And look, the starting lineup, if you watched our preview for this series, that was one of my talking points. It's like, can the Knicks starting lineup just keep up with the Pacers? Because the Knicks starting lineup has been sort of bad for a long time now, haven't even been great in the postseason, and the Pacers are amazing. And they haven't been able to.
They've been outplayed the entire series from these starters. And in the fourth quarter of game two, Tibbs decided, you know, make that change. Towns did leave with like nine minutes to go. He didn't come back till 225 when the Knicks were now going for the haymaker, right? Now it's like, we got to win here in the final round. You got to knock his head off.
So they're scrambling to come back because it had been a double digit deficit. So, you know, it's your old NBA guy not playing. Seven key minutes down the stretch. Tough. Tough, but you get it because you saw what Mitchell Robinson was bringing defensively. And this is this weird tradeoff here. So we'll see. I don't think Tibbs will start Mitchell Robinson, but... Maybe he should.
It's very possible that he should. He's getting minutes. He's seeing the floor. He's contributing. Again, just like Game 1, Mitchell Robinson, the box score is not going to wow you, but if you watch the game, oh my god, how many times does he just give the Knicks sort of another chance at scoring because... He's fighting like two or three pacers under the boards and gets tipped out off of them.
Only because he's been fighting for it. Otherwise, they grab it. So he's been a beast on the offensive glass. And obviously, you know, trying to stay with these fast pacers players as well. And he's better. He's just been way better than Cat, who has to like gear up to start running, as we've talked about before. Shu had a crazy stat.
about that idea of the Knicks not being able to keep up with them. Through two games, the Pacers have scored 126.6 points per 100 possessions, which would be the second best mark for any team in the conference finals or finals in the 29 years we have play-by-play data. They just cannot stop them right now.
And they are going to need to figure that out in Indianapolis tonight and slow this team, or this one's going to be over in a hurry. One thing for the Knicks, going for them. They've been good on the road, just like Indiana was. Pacers have won six straight on the road in the playoffs. They're now two away from the NBA Finals. First time they'd be there in 25 years.
But the Knicks have also been a very good road team. That was something else we talked about heading into this series with our preview. I actually nailed a couple of these talking points. I don't know. I don't know what to expect here tonight. I'm not sure. If you saw our bed podcasts after they blew the 14-point lead in 170 seconds in Game 1, I didn't think they were winning in overtime.
And after they lost, I don't think they're winning the series. And I had the Knicks in seven. But I'm also not dumb enough to let go. That's a wasted opportunity, and this team is too good. And... I just don't, I don't see the Knicks winning four or five. So can they give us at least a series? Some excitement, just like the Wolves did.

Chapter 6: What are the implications for the series after Game 3?
You know, and he's actually taking guys out of the rotation that he's, like, maybe lost some trust in or are struggling. Like, Mathren reduced minutes. I think even Thomas Bryant. Hell, we saw Tony Bradley playing in this game for the Pacers. But going to Shepard, obviously McConnell, good game too. They're clicking. They are clicking.
And even in a game where Halliburton didn't have to do a whole bunch. I thought he hit some big shots. But for the most part, it was a pretty quiet game. So we will see. That is tonight. I'll leave you there. We'll make it a quickie. Like I said, 20, 25 minutes. A few other notes before we go. Gotta give a shout-out to my godson, Andreas.
He hit his first out-of-the-park home run yesterday, people. Bomb! Dead center. He's 10 years old.
