Chapter 1: What is the story of the Texas Senior Living Serial Killer?

828.137 - 847.914 Colin Browen

Phyllis's daughter, Lauren Adair Smith, said that her mother was a ball of energy. She was 91, but you would have thought she was 70. And Phyllis really enjoyed her time at Edgemere. Workers said that she was often seen socializing and playing bridge in Edge Party Room. In her younger years, she had worked as an interior decorator, and she loved being creative.

she often traveled with her daughter on family trips and tragically that week she had actually been invited on a trip to gulf shores alabama but she declined because she said she was going to be busy with her bridge club so her daughter went to alabama without her On the drive down, Lauren said that she called her mother, who was in good spirits.

Phyllis told her that her bridge club gathering had been a success. From there, they said I love you and goodbye, and they hung up the phone. However, a few hours later, Lauren got a call that her mother was dead. A worker at Edgemere had found her lying in bed, still dressed in a robe. It appeared as if she peacefully died in her sleep, and her death was listed as natural causes.

Upon hearing the news, Lauren immediately came back to Dallas, and eventually she had to complete the difficult task of cleaning out her mother's apartment. But as she did, Lauren noticed that the empty coffee can inside the refrigerator, where Phyllis stashed her valuable jewelry, was missing.

905.735 - 911.897 Colin Browen

Lauren reported the theft to the police and Edgemere's administrators, but an investigation was never opened.

913.158 - 932.497 Colin Browen

So within about a month, two women had died at Edgemere. Both of their families reported to the police that valuables had been stolen from them, but sadly the police didn't look into it. And after getting away with it twice, Billy Chemermere would return to Edgemere once more in search of another victim.

933.158 - 957.079 Colin Browen

On June 5th, 2016, he snuck back onto the property and made his way over to building number four. Inside one of the units was 94-year-old Phoebe Perry. who lived with her small dog named Honey. Posing as a maintenance man, Billy knocked on her door and Phoebe opened it, only to be bombarded by a stranger who forced his way into her apartment.

957.68 - 983.129 Colin Browen

Over the next few minutes, Billy grabbed a pillow and forced Phoebe onto one of the living room chairs. He then put a pillow over her face and began to smother her. But Phoebe put up a fight. So much so, blood started staining the pillow over her face. But the 94-year-old stood no chance against Billy. Eventually, just like the others, she too would pass away.

983.649 - 1002.964 Colin Browen

As Phoebe slumped over her living room chair, Billy began looking through her home. grabbing anything of value that he could find. Then once he was satisfied, he left Edgemere and headed to the pawn shop to collect his cash prize. Later that day, workers would find Phoebe's body in that living room chair.

Chapter 2: How did the killer target elderly residents?

1410.895 - 1434.453 Colin Browen

But that didn't seem to be the case because in April of 2016, before Billy Chimirmire had been arrested, it seemed as if he had already targeted this place. 82-year-old Joyce Amber Mowitz had lived at the Tradition in Unit 208. That April, she had just arrived home after a three-week vacation to find that $3,500 of jewelry had been taken from her jewelry box.

including a sapphire ring, a diamond heart pendant, and an antique bracelet. Now Joyce also saw that there was no forced entry, so immediately she assumed it was one of the employees. She even filed a police report, but nothing ever came of it. And after this incident, Joyce was worried. The thought of a stranger coming into her home and snooping through her things was terrifying.

So following this, she went out and bought a safe where she hid the remainder of her valuables, which were worth about $5,000. But sadly, three months later, on July 18th, 2016, just five days after Billy Chimirmere was released from jail, he would come back for more. He would enter Joyce's apartment again, taking the entire safe and the remainder of her jewelry.

But sadly, this time, Joyce would not be able to report it to the police because she was dead. Like the others, her cause of death was listed as natural causes and no foul play was suspected. But less than two weeks later, Billy Chimirmere would strike again.

1508.294 - 1524.3 Colin Browen

For 83-year-old Juanita Purdy, the glitz and glamour of tradition had been one of the reasons she had decided to move there with her husband, Jim, in 2010. Sadly, Jim would pass away two years later, but luckily by then, Juanita had found a really great group of friends within the facility.

1524.8 - 1540.324 Colin Browen

In fact, she and her best friends all lived on the fourth floor, and they called themselves the Fourth Floor Ladies. They were all older and widowed, but they all found comfort in each other. Every week, they would even have themed parties together, and everyone in the facility described them as spunky.

1540.624 - 1557.439 Colin Browen

animated and fun on july 30th 2016 the fourth floor ladies had all planned to get together for a seven course dinner with wine tasting they had been looking forward to it all week but after everyone sat down at the table they couldn't help but notice that juanita's seat was empty

1558.356 - 1581.515 Colin Browen

Just 13 days after murdering Joyce, Billy made his way back under the property and knocked on the front door of apartment 439. Inside, 83-year-old Juanita Purdy was reading the newspaper and drinking some tea. She had also pulled out some nail polish so she could do her nails, but her morning plans were interrupted when a maintenance man knocked on her door.

1582.075 - 1604.44 Colin Browen

Now, Juanita hadn't made a maintenance request, but she opened the door anyway, and from there, like the others, she was attacked. Billy Tremiermere pushed her into her bedroom, and while lying on her bed, he smothered her with a pillow. The last moments of Juanita's life were undeniably horrifying, and within a few minutes, she was dead.

Chapter 3: What flaws existed in the senior living facilities?

4051.37 - 4065.395 Colin Browen

4091.758 - 4115.998 Colin Browen

Two days before Christmas of 2017, Billy Tremere Mirror was ready to strike again, but this time, he wouldn't go back to Preston Place. Instead, he returned to the place where most of his victims had lived, the tradition at Prestonwood. It's unknown why Billy decided to come back, But when he did, he would target 90-year-old Doris Wasserman.

0

4116.458 - 4137.571 Colin Browen

That afternoon, Doris had just gotten back after spending time with her family for Christmas. And later that evening, her son planned to pick her up for dinner. But when her son finally arrived and knocked on her apartment door, she didn't answer. So he decided to just walk in. But that's when he found his mom dead. lying in bed.

4138.111 - 4159.967 Colin Browen

At first glance, it looked like Doris had just passed away in her sleep, but when he took a closer look, he grew very concerned. Doris's chin was severely bruised, and next to her body, there was mucus on the bed. Even further, Doris always used her walker to get around, but her walker was by the front door, not by her bed.

4160.527 - 4184.306 Colin Browen

Her son knew that his mom wouldn't have been able to get to the bedroom without her walker. So how did she get here? Soon enough, Doris's body was removed from her apartment where they once again ruled that her death was natural. But her family would soon find out that there was $8,500 of jewelry missing from her apartment. But even with this information, No one seemed to bat an eye.

4184.726 - 4188.909 Colin Browen

Doris Wasserman was the 10th unexpected death at Tradition.

4189.93 - 4205.3 Colin Browen

About a week after Doris's death, Billy was on the prowl for another victim. But this time he would murder someone he already knew, 81-year-old Carolyn McPhee. In October 2016, Carolyn's husband, Jack, was diagnosed with a rare nervous system disorder.
