Meeting George wasn't good for her because he was, like, into drug activities and we was trying to keep her away from environments like that, you know. She had a heart good as gold, you know, like mine. She didn't mind helping people, you know. She tried to be respectful and malleable, you know, like we raised her, you know.
From what time she was around us, you know, we always tried to raise her to be a child, you know, to take your time and live your life. Don't throw your life away to the street life, you know. I think she ended up getting caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time. To be honest with you, I rode around. I went from, like, Ocean Springs to Biloxi.
I rode around crying with my girl, you know, just thinking, like, how much we tried to get her away from that house. Like, it was just something to feel like the more you could have done, you know, but the truth of the matter is we done all we could.
Not a day go by we don't think about our family member, Asia. I had to pray to God and find closure that way with myself to just put it in God's hand that he would, you know what I'm saying, seek justice and make sure that our family get the proper closure for her life, you know.
I was up going to get some coffee from La Super that morning. And one of my friends had called me and told me, he was like, man, check on your niece. I think something bad happened because he was like, you know, he see police and yellow tape and stuff at the house he was at. So I rode by there myself. I rode by there to see, you know, what was going on, if it was true.
Well, in the first year out, that's just based off the school stats and what I've seen, what I've researched from the entry, not the entry jobs, but the jobs that they have... recruiting for. They're looking at around $150,000 is the average. So it could be less, it could be more when I first get out. So there's a chance that I would have less of a salary when I first get out of business school.
But I'm looking at three to five years afterwards and being able to earn the income potential to get a more senior role, which I'll be more qualified for. And also being able to transition industries a little bit.
Two years.
How are you doing, sir? Good. I have a $1,200 car note.
It's a G2 Kia Stinger. A what? Did you say a Kia? Stinger. A Stinger. Yeah, the twin turbo, the sports car Kia.
Terrence, how much did that set you back? It was around like $60,000, but I had another car to add on to it.
Yes, and I needed something reliable because I traveled back and forth to Tennessee to see my kids.
Yes, yes, I bought a stinger. It was a bad decision. We love you.
I know it was a bad decision. By listening to the show, I knew it was a bad decision.
Well, I have that, and I also have $2,000 a month child support. I was trying to figure out how can I get rid of the stinger.
Yes, I make $10,000 a month, $125,000 a year without overtime. Is that the only debt you have is the car? Yes, I started listening to Dave Ramsey a couple of years ago. Then last October, I paid off all my credit cards.
Okay, go ahead. I do have one credit card that I would use only to go on the Sky Club and get a rental card. And that was another question that I had to ask y'all about that too. What do you do about when you need a rental card? Do I just use my debit card?
Oh, like $57,000. So $57,000.
$30,000.
Yeah, because the thing was, I don't mind paying for it, but by the time I get around to paying bills and I see that $1,200 note, I'm like, whoo!
I think I'm done with the negative equity part of it.
I had the car for two years now.
My salary is pending.
I bring home like $5,200 after taxes and child support.
Okay, child support. $5,200 after child support.
I could probably fill away probably $1,400 a month.
Because after each check, I'm rolling around $1,300 after everything. Okay.
Okay. Because I have completely became a cheapo. What? I became a cheapskate. Okay. So, chicken salad sandwiches. Like, I really just tried. I really cut back just to figure out, was it me or was it just a lifestyle or anything? And everybody been looking at me crazy like, hey, you want to go? I'm like, nope.
Can't go nowhere when I got this, okay?
Yeah, I want to get rid of it, man, because before I got this finger, I was driving a 2012 Buick LaCrosse, which I didn't have no problem driving.
Man, I love that car. We'll get you another one. I got hit and a half being chased, and they told me. Tell me that you weren't being chased. No, no, no. I was sitting in traffic and got hit by a police officer. What's a decent Buick LaCrosse going to set you back? Probably not. Well, I bought that one in 2018 for $10,000. When I went to looking after the wreck, they went up to like $16,000. Yeah.
Okay.
Never. I'm one of the ones that learn real fast.
I'm done because I got a daughter who's about to go to college, so I want to have the money. I have the nest egg. I did the baby steps. So I cut the credit cards off. I love it.
Hey, how are you doing, guys? Thanks for taking my call. Sure, what's going on? I have a question. Education and career call. Basically, I was offered a job for about $150,000 total comp. I was also offered a full scholarship to a top 20, top 25 business school. So my question is, should I quit my job to go to business school?
So I want to do a transition from account management to product management. And all the roles that I've seen and all the roles that I'm looking for are requiring that MBA.
Total comp, yes. Say that again? Total comp is $150,000.
So once 14 is the base, and then the remainder would be the comp paid out over RSU. Okay.
Yeah, it's a full-time program, so I would have to quit. How are you paying the bills? Unfortunately, it's been my wife, so she will continue working. We've talked about how the finances will look. It will be a lot less, of course, because I won't have the income, but the main trade-off that we're considering is the salary after business.
No, no consumer debt.
uh combined 210 stable to about 98. okay you've crunched these numbers and you guys are not going to be struggling just a little bit tighter true or false um we won't be struggling we'll be tighter we do have our our um our funds already that we have security and we also have some money that we have available in investments that we're willing to Okay, so a couple things here I'm hearing.
Well, so from what we did, we said we will be able to afford this change in income based on our expenses.
Correct. I don't foresee us being struggling based on what we've calculated, but it will be tight because we're cutting our income by half.
You mean from just like a value add outside of salary? No, no. Just what are you going to make?
That wouldn't be out the gate. So what I'm anticipating is when my first role out of the NBA program would be about the same salary I'm making now. But what I'm confident about is that my earning potential will be higher. Right now, I don't have that NBA or that masses program. So the role in the Mets is shorter at my max. Where does that confidence come from?
the confidence for the... That your long-term potential is higher.
