He's a halfie? He's a halfie. He's a halfie. Yeah.
Oh, so he's everything. Oh, so he's like... Yeah. Hawaiian Filipinos are basically, they integrate in a lot of places.
Not that I would know.
It's just something I read.
You think the guy was excited reading that? Was he rubbing his hands together? He's like, who wants to read this? I got this. I can do this impression. Don't worry. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is a Hawaiian princess. It's my time to show up.
This feels the same. Are you enjoying it? Yeah. Yeah. It's been a hustle, but yes. Yeah, I love it. A hustle doesn't stop. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It never fucking stops. This is like my... fourth year on the road in a row. Yeah.
Yeah. I did one open mic. Someone happened to film it and I was just famous ever since then. It was just overnight. No, I'm joking. No, no, no. Like, yeah, Marvelous Miss Maisel. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah. No, I was... It's like... I don't know. I'll try to make it short, but basically... No, no, no, no.
Keep it going. So basically, I got in a lot of debt in college. I was in a lot of debt, and I needed a way to get out of it, so I actually taught myself how to write code. And then... Oh, shit. Yeah. Like, full-blown code... Yeah, yeah, I mean, like, I was not, like, a high-level software engineer, but, yeah, I was, like, doing, you know, basic, like, web engineering and stuff like that.
And so I ended up working at an ad agency, and then there's a comic who worked with me. Shout out Andre Paradise. He... You know, we just, like, shoot the shit in the break room, and he was like, hey, man, have you ever, like, thought about doing stand-up? Like, you have that energy. And I was like, I wanted to try, but I just don't know anything about that.
So he's like, oh, why don't you come check me out? And so... He set it up like I was going to go watch him do a show. And it ended up being an open mic that a lot of people now were at. Like Quinta Brunson would go there. David Lucas was there. Wait, who? Quinta Brunson. I fucking love Quinta Brunson. Jackson McQueen ran it. He opens for Rife now. The Amsterdam Cafe.
It was like this random hookah bar. And so I started doing stand-up then. I did stand-up for about like two, two and a half years. Maybe through, it's like such a blur, but because I wasn't getting on stage, I was like, oh, let me just make stuff on the internet. My whole thought there was like, if I got a little bit of a following, maybe they'll give me five instead of three minutes.
Or seven instead of five type deal.
Yeah, that was literally my theory. And then... That just kind of took me down a whole path with like YouTube and starting a podcast.
So I'm doing this around like 2014. I kind of stay making stuff on the internet all the way through to like 2016, 2017.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. So then in about like 2016, 2017, I kind of hit a stride on YouTube. And then that was kind of like the rest is history.
Yeah. Yeah.
No, I mean, same thing. I had to tell myself how to cut and shoot. And so it felt like the work didn't feel like it was beyond me. Honestly, it just made me, it was like very surreal because I'd like put stuff out and it would do very well. And I'm just still in this like, in my mind, I'm just like a guy working a job, you know, just a year ago.
Yeah.
Yeah. And then I kind of parlayed that into a podcast and... The podcast is the... The TMG show. What's that? The TMG show. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, I'm just still doing it. And I... So I had to kind of take a break from stand-up to focus on everything that was blown up, like, internet-wise.
And then I only started getting back in the clubs and, like, touring super hard, like, right after COVID. But we were touring before then, too, so. Yeah, the COVID, it's like everyone took a break then.
No. No? I mean, yeah. You've done kind of like... Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I guess script, I think like feature. I've not done like a feature.
Oh, yeah. Do you guys want a drink? Do you guys drink? I'm not huge, but for you, I'll sip a little something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll drink something.
Yeah.
It's like. Is it girlfriend, fiance? Girlfriend. Girlfriend? Yeah, yeah. All right.
And if you're watching, he's just being funny. He's never had sex. I've never had. Before you.
That's my, you know, I'm saving it.
Oh, got it. Oh, so we're just work. We're just work. Oh, okay.
I don't like knowing this. Oh, we have gotten good.
This is one generation back.
So, okay, so... And by the way, I love knowing how you have sex with your wife. I love it.
I want to know how you have sex with your girlfriend.
Best. Because it's the first and the only.
Yeah. It's over, man. Hey, hey. It's over, man.
Just a nice little red beam. Like, just to know, like, yo, I don't need to have an orgasm. Just give you the light. You're like, okay, okay, cool. I can wrap it up. Yeah. That would be pretty crazy to go down on a lady and just see that big red light at the top of the headboard. You're like, okay, yeah.
Yeah. Like, damn, this is why you're the GOAT. It's gotta be crazy to, like, to... Watch Chris Rock have sex?
No, they look great. It's crazy because... Wait, by the way, let me just say this. I had sex for the last time about nine months ago. Oh, because... Yeah, whoa. What's that like? You just have a kid. You can't... It's under construction. You can't just... I get that. You can't go in there and start building again, tearing out walls. Yeah, you can. Yeah, you can. That's how you have another one.
Yeah.
I guess this is... I've seen a lot of stories about that on Reddit. Oh. Like husbands pouting... Can someone attest? I'm too passive. Liam, what does a pout sound like?
I'm just saying you're crazy to look at a postpartum woman and be like, bro, she can still get blowjobs, okay? That's all I'm saying. That's even crazier. Listen.
Yeah, her mouth is wide open. Yeah, that's so wild, dude. All of these two perspectives, I'm here just learning.
That's crazy to look at a woman and go, I can't get pussy anymore. And she literally just delivered your child.
Yeah, dude. Dude, those pure whites, they were so cool. We're going to have to, it's going to be like, we're going to recook you guys, you know, like we're going to take mice. We're going to experiment on them in like 2080. We're going to be like, we're going to try to recreate the white man. Yeah. Yeah.
I'm exaggerating a little bit.
Yeah, but no, I mean, we kind of had to chill.
It's like a new delicacy.
Are? Yeah. Potentially ours. Potentially ours. It could be ours. Yeah. I'm still saying that's crazy. What? Just... Baby on the boob, and you're like, hey, when you're done with that, can I get my dick sucked? When you're done with that.
When I get to the bottom here, I'm going to get home and be like, give me that blowjob.
Yeah. That would be fucking dope. I joked about starting racist and here we are.
yeah honestly there are times where but it's like i don't know it's i think it's a tough call because i think it's also you want to feel like you can be uh just authentic on stage so it's like that weird in between but no definitely i have that feeling because You know, sometimes I like to just say wild stuff, and I think about, oh, my son might see this one day. That's interesting.
And that stuff is in my head now, for sure.
Slightly, but I'm pushing through, you know, because I want him to know, your dad was a dirtbag. Let's not iron out heroes here. Sure, sure.
I'm just inspired here.
Yeah, I feel comfortable talking shit about my family here. Yeah, we just looked at his mom Forget your mom.
Mom. Uh-oh, JR's mom is here. That's so wild. Your mom is fully a person. She is a human with a soul. Here we go.
She's adorable. Yeah, for 60 years old, she does not look 60. Well, she's Asian. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's trying to make you more enticing to a politician.
Are you serious? Is it because what you were saying was very American?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I definitely felt that a lot because I toured Europe in 23. How was it? It was great. I'm grateful to say it was my second time. I started noticing that. I just started talking about stuff. I'm like, oh, you don't even think like that here.
Yeah, I was kind of joking about abortion like a taboo, but in Europe they're like, oh, we do that.
I feel like if they're fans of you, they're your people.
Yeah. Yeah. I think the benefit of podcasting too is people have had the time to get to know you. So when they're locking in for a show, it's like, oh, it's Bert. Let's go. Which is awesome. I think it's great to not have to switch anything up and just be yourself.
Oh, really? Yeah.
It was a white girl.
You just haven't met JR's mom.
I got to get the fuck out of the Philippines.
Did they know you were not, like, relief? Like, you weren't there as, like, a relief thing? Did they know that you were?
He seems in such a good mood. The locals are so talented. They know so much about American politics. His mom's a dentist. Unbelievable. I think it was like, it was like.
Yeah, and as you're over there, they're talking to your girlfriend. They're like, hey, you know the locals. They're not tested. You got to be careful. Yeah.
Dude, you must have looked crazy to the locals. They're like, wow, this guy did it. Wait, can they tell that you're not like them? Easily. Right away. Really?
So it's like. That's the mix, white and blonde. She's like mega white.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. But, yeah. I love how racial this has gotten, by the way. Yeah.
This is my second, by the way. So wait, do you really measure what you drink? I don't measure it, but, you know, I pay a little bit of attention because it doesn't take much. But do you not like getting drunk because you don't like losing control? Um, yeah, actually, I wanted to give you a little gift.
So you can have that. Boy, are you in? I'm wearing my glasses on.
What? We'll just burn that down. That's for you.
I dreamed of this.
I know. Is this real? No, I got it from Amazon.
Yeah, they have a 24-hour one.
Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead.
Oh, is it? No.
You sounded so cool when you said that, by the way. This one was like, it was pussy.
That's crazy you make her run a nail salon in the back, too. That shit is wild, dude.
Yeah, well, you know. Guys, Bert has his own shoe coming out. We see it. It's so sick. We see it. They're being made right there. We're both wearing them.
Or we'll never know. We'll never know.
I think it's because you made eye contact with me.
Yeah, yeah. So you're in sexaholics anonymous.
Love addicts.
Love addicts is a real thing. So can I interrupt and ask... What is the tension like in those rooms? Oh, God. Everyone's about to pop. Yeah, is it like nine of you in a room? No, honestly. Wait, wait, wait. Did hot chicks ever roll in?
I mean, not like... I thought it was all... I just pictured all dudes in there are the problem.
Yeah, his mom gets in his mouth. Can you imagine your mom putting her fingers in your mouth? Yeah, I can. Whoa, guys, guys.
If I drank as much as you, I'd be dead right now. No. I don't know where we're at. Or happy. Cheers. I might start speaking a different language. Just kill the rest of it. Whatever you're comfortable with.
You ready?
I can't wait to get on my motorcycle. You have a motorcycle here? Yeah, I'm driving home.
Do you really have a motorcycle? No, I've not. Yeah, there's no shot. Yeah. I even, if I say that word, I hear my wife loading a gun. Should probably shoot my kneecaps out just to make sure I don't go by it. I just want to be very clear.
You saw Samus take her helmet off? Exactly.
I was dying.
I saw her on the CNN New Year's in Remembrance segment. Oh, she died? No, I don't know.
You know, you might get copyrighted.
Oh, you guys are kids. Yeah. We're babies, man.
I remember my first pussy. Yeah, go ahead, Noah. I was a working man. Yeah. Good man. Good, good man. You know, I started at the bottom, and I worked up, and I built my own car manufacturing factory. Yes, sir. And then I had that first pussy, and goddamn, it just all got away from me. Now I'm doing meth.
I'd give anything and just go back and never ever had that pussy ever. I'd own a car manufacturing plant now, but now I'm just homeless thinking about pussy.
Now the men I blow have PrEP, so I'm not worried about it. Shout out to prescription drugs for STDs. Thank God for PrEP. I blow men left and right. Continue, Bert. Carefree. But back then...
Thank you. Now I blow men on prep, and I never think about pussy. Nope. Just blowing men. I'm on a road to recovery.
God damn. Oh, sorry. Sorry. Wait, let me see you in high school. I bet you look just like you do now.
You are never touring the Philippines ever again after that statement.
This is dangerous, showing a white guy and Asian woman. Yeah.
Yeah.
Mommy.
Yeah. I sat behind him on a flight recently. Oh, really? For real? Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. The internet pays, man.
Oh, whoa, these are fucking sick. Sweet. I was studying him intensely. He didn't drink very much. He went to sleep. For real?
Yeah, yeah, the whole thing. Just studying how a legend does it.
Really?
Got it. All right, so I'm going to look up your dates. And if I think you're on a plane, I'm just going to message you repeatedly on Instagram. This might be the one. We're due for one.
Yeah.
Yeah, something very bad could happen to you.
Are there any halfsies in here? Any half-breeds in the room? Any half-breeds in the room.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, every day. I'm like, wow, I could be out playing billiards right now, but I'm here with you, buddy. No, it definitely changed everything. I think it gave me a... It is a funny thing. I think I needed a child to accomplish a certain amount of maturity that other people reach on their own.

It's a very extreme way of growing as a person. Being responsible for something that can't even walk. But it... It's been great. I love every minute of it, even the tough moments so far. Because, yeah, it does teach you a lot about yourself.

Sorry, I was just thinking about that moment. Yeah, but I mean, you could sell that scene. To any horror film producer. What a... I'm just imagining the creepy... And then here comes this blue baby.

You know, we haven't had any of those yet. I'm also a freak. So, you know, I conjure up some of those fears like, you know, my hand went near the trash can and then I just touched his hand. Now is he munching on whatever and. You know, I freak myself out often. So, you know, I'm hopefully won't experience any of that just yet. Yeah. We do have the Heimlich tools.

You know, we got the pump and all that. So, God forbid. Yeah, that's it. But no super scary moments as of yet. He's very chill. We keep him in the dark. We don't let him outside. So that's how we avoid danger. That's what I do with my daughters.

He is crawling already. He's six months and he, that kid, he already understands how to like use his body to get over the top of the crib. He's, yeah, he's like a little... He's like a little toy almost. You just put him on his back and he flips over and he gets going. He comes back again and he flips over again. So he will be running, I think, sooner than most. He already tries to walk.

Man, this is such a great time.

We do. We got a little mixed breed Chihuahua. He's, you know, he wasn't, he's like a Chihuini, we think.

You know, the baby showed up and the baby's getting a lot of attention, so he wasn't too stoked about that, but he's coming around, so it'll be okay.

This is... Yeah, yeah, definitely. I talk about being a father. But I don't... I mean, my kid is so brand new, but I think I kind of... And make no mistake, I love my son.

But I think I don't speak about being a father maybe the same way others would. Because being a father just makes me think very meta about how humans came to be what they are. And I think about the evolution of what a father is. And weirdly it makes me think of...

certain books I've read and how there's this opinion that some people have about how fatherhood changed as, I guess, this is a really deep thing, but as capitalism grew and fathers began to work more and more what took place of fatherhood and where people get Oh, okay.

I had no mask. I was raw. I was just sitting there holding a leg.

Yeah, I was in there. I was participating in the birth. Good for you. Yeah. In there, baby.

Yeah, I joined Vine pretty late. Basically, I got into Vine because simultaneously I was working as a web developer, just like, you know, writing code for weird web apps and stuff.

Hast du schon mal Stand-Up gemacht? Oh, wow.

Was fĂĽr ein Freund. Ja. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was, honestly, it was a great way to... It was the best thing that ever happened to you, yeah. Yeah, break me into it. So I was doing stand-up for a bit and then I got into Vine as like, my thought was, there's always popular people on Vine and I thought, oh, maybe if I... In L.A.

So then when the Internet work I was doing like really took off, that really took my focus. But I always wanted to get back to stand up. And so when COVID ended, or I'd say 2021, you know, because COVID never started for some people. So in 2021, I was like back on the road and fully doing stand up again. And so I've been just doing it for the last four years. And it's the thing I love.

Above everything. It's the thing that just makes me the most excited. I love writing ideas and sharing them.

It fucking pisses me off so much.

And every time, like it just makes me irate. And I guess the only way I could like equate this in my mind, I was like, imagine like going to the red light district and you go get a handjob from a lady and then she pulls the condom off. She's like, all right, take that with you. Congratulations.

Ich dachte mir, fuck you.

And then they're going, yeah, kind of. Of course. I'm like, man, this guy's a pussy. And I would wonder why I'm bombing. But... But, yeah, so I think, like, I have, like, this weird, like, inclination to, I don't know, like, pose questions and talk about things on stage that I think objectively are not funny. Yeah. And... Ich versuche, die Tension zu lösen.

Yeah, actually, you know, it's funny. I was reflecting on this the other day. I've been putting out just like, I guess, media since... For almost like 11 years now. So... Wow. I think, yeah. I think the way I've tried to... I guess like keep it fresh.

And it's something that people who know me and have watched me for a while will like... They don't criticize me for it, but they always make a point to say like, Noel, you're always doing something new. And it's like almost a pain in the ass to keep up. You know, and I'm not doing anything like genre bending or whatever. I just kind of like to mix it up. But...

Yeah, my wife, Alina, she's been really great and instrumental in helping me kind of like zone in on things. Because as a partner, she observes the things that make me feel bad and make me feel good. And she's always helpful as like a voice of reason to go like, hey, you know, I notice of all the work you do, like this type of work seems to give you the best.

And I notice you're the best when doing this. And I think you should go that direction. And she helps turn my neck because I think sometimes when you're focused on the performance aspect of it, you're just thinking about all these kind of dumb little nuances that really don't matter and you miss the point sometimes.

I don't think anything you said made sense up there. Like, she would be very, like, I guess, basically being like, you should have bombed. What you said up there was wildly stupid or, like, weird.

I think. Oh, there's nothing that feels worse than doing stand-up and then getting in the car with your then-girlfriend and she goes, you embarrassed me. Oh, yeah. Not like that. She's not mean like that. The message I'm getting is like, oh, you don't want to be in this car right now because I'm a moron. It's always been from the position of like, um mich besser zu helfen.

Ja. Yeah, now it's like a weird, weirdly the most busy I've ever been, but the most motivated I've ever been. Because now I run a podcast network and that takes a lot of, you know, just time and things to think through. And we've got a pretty sizable crew. I mean, we've got like 20 people that work for the company.

And so splitting that with like some of the work that I'm doing on my YouTube channel does get tough at times, but I think I'm managing it super well. And obviously I'm in a lot of different places, but Yeah, I think right now I feel the most creative I've been because I've kind of given my YouTube channel like a big overhaul. I started like a new solo podcast late last year.

JK. JK. I don't sell insurance.

I don't want to tell his story because he's like a super interesting guy, but he grew up in like rural Iowa and he... Oh mein Gott.

He is that classic American build. He is built different. That guy can do 2000 milligram edibles. He could take an entire pack of joints and probably take them to the face.

Some people can do that. He jokes that he has the... Toleranz. I don't know.

In L.A.
Und so habe ich, I kind of gained a following there and then fast forward, I ended up getting on YouTube. YouTube starts to work really well for me. That kind of leads me into the world of podcasting. And all while this is all developing, you know, I'm touring podcasts live and in that way I was kind of like still doing stand-up to these crowds and
So then when the Internet work I was doing like really took off, that really took my focus.

JK. JK. I don't sell insurance.
Es ist auch manchmal sehr anstrengend, weil es gibt Tage, an denen ich aufwache und ich bin so, ich möchte nur darauf konzentrieren. stupid observations about the world and get high when my son goes to sleep, but no such luck.
You should talk to my buddy Tyler. He is one of the most interesting guys I've ever met.
He just feels like he's always been in these really quirky life scenarios and he's just observing and he's just there for the ride and I always take inspiration from that.
Es ist gut. Sorry, I'm just getting a text now that I guess someone hit our garage. Oh. Someone hit your garage with a car? Yeah, let's see. Let's see what the damage is.
Yeah. Wait, just give me like two minutes. Take your time.
What a way to just completely derail a conversation.
Everyone's okay. You know they say in life, one garage door gets drove into, another one opens. Your garage door gets driven into, the door to your office opens. And your wife is standing there with a baby going...
Hitting garage doors is not cheap.
I would say, if you plan on hitting a garage door, just go all the way through it. Make it worth it.
Well, thank you. Sorry, we'll chat soon.
Sorry, I'm just getting a text now that I guess someone hit our garage.
Listen, for a long time I entertained adopting because at that point They're past, you know, you could get them. Yeah. At 10.
Yeah, let's see. Let's see what the damage is.
You know, you can get, like, it's like adopting a dog. You get them. Not that children are dogs. No, no, no. You get them when they learn how to, you know, pee and poop.
I think that's great, because Chrissy has just shown up to the franchise as a new head coach. That's right. That's done done.
She's the consultant, new head coach. She's here to clean up the organization.
Get their star players on track.
Hey, I'm your cool wine mom head coach.
Yeah. Wait, just give me like, just give me like two minutes. Take your time. I'm gonna beat him up. I'll be right back. Okay, sounds good.
