Alright, it's Bobby Skinner. Welcome to the Giants Nation show. What it once was, what I was once the host of, it was actually the Giants Nation podcast with me and Danny King. And guess what? Danny King's not the co-host, but he will be involved in some way, shape, or form. This is the new show. I've got to put out some type of audio to get this out on the podcast feeds.

So no one's actually going to listen to this. If you do listen to this, you're a part of history. Because we're about to make... History. I didn't write any script. I just had my coffee. I'm like, you know what? I need to get something out of the podcast apps to get it on Apple, Spotify, Podbean, Pocket Cast, all those places. So we're starting afresh. We're starting anew. Appreciate you guys.

Obviously, the Patreon is going to be a big part of this. I don't even know what's patreon.com slash yet. I haven't changed that. I just know that no new that I need to get this out. On all the podcasts. So appreciate you guys. You'll hear news soon. Or you're listening to this. After hearing the news. We'll see you then. Until then. Let's go. Big. Blue.

me to do other content, right? Like, hey, I'm going to want to do a three, you know, video, like say the Giants draft Mason Graham or Derek Harmon. you know what, let me go through his last four games of film and put together like what he's been like, stuff like that. Or like, you know, a video, you know, where I'm, you know, the Joe Shane video, right?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

About what, you know, like the one that got me in trouble about why I think he should be fired. Obviously that's not going to be a repeating video, but like stuff like that, where there's something on my mind, you know, maybe I don't like a coordinator or really, I really do like a coordinator. And that's what it's going to be.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

But it just gives me more freedom to do other videos, you know, do live streams in the gaps and stuff. no co-host um at least early on i do i would like to add a co-host um please do not take this as a message bobby this week that's probably the worst way to do it um it's not going to be about you're not going to become the coast by asking right i'm going to kind of have to notice you um

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1076.192

But I don't know if I ever will. But here's what I'm not going to do. There will be no co-host for the first three months. Now, there kind of will be with the football grump because I've contracted him to be on for draft month. All the draft previews, the draft recaps, the draft live streams, the UDFA pods, they will be with grump. So he's going to be a part of that. But he's not the co-host.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1100.564

But I need to get through three months of putting together a business before I add anybody with significant commitment. But again, ideally, I would like to have a co-host. So Grump will be a frequent guest. Danny King is going to be involved in some way. He'll be on the draft live streams. I'm sure he'll still run the Giants Nation pod Twitter account during the games.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

But I really struggled for the last week since this decision has been made with what to do with this first episode. Do I take the complete high road and just say everything was great, but I just wanted to start something new? Or...

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

I won't be doing any more broad NFL coverage, so... The rest should basically stay the same, though. Like, I basically created a year-round schedule for the show, and I intend to keep that all the same. You know, the only thing that I didn't create was the idea of PPPs, you know, player profiles, and that is the lowest viewed content of the year, but I still love those. Like...

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

John Boy Media is keeping the podcast feed, the YouTube, but you're crazy if you think I'm not going to keep the guest rotation that we had. The interview series and recaps of Training Camp. The Monday, Wednesday, Friday of recap mailbag preview in the season. The Tony Award. Draft streams. Film breakdowns of draft picks and free agent editions.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1163.445

The pending free agent pod, the UDFA review pod, the end of season awards show, the way too early free agency and draft previews, the over under pod, the 4th of July mailbag. Those are mine, right? You can keep the name Talking Giants in the YouTube accounts. That is, those are my ideas and those will stay as part of the Giants Nation show.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1182.732

And again, the goal for me right now is this as a business is getting through the next three months and then reevaluating to see what is possible.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1191.335

uh you know there's you know kind of a pitch to whoever may be listening i would like to sell ads eventually right right now my pitch would be to sell a draft and training camp package separately but you know it would be nice if it was the same you know sponsor and if you do i mean one

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1209.096

you get to say you're the first sponsor of the giants nation uh show and i think people will really cling to that i think it'll be a big part you'll be a you know hopefully a long-term sponsor but people will be people will respond to that well uh i think there's a lot of value in that and i've already put together what those packages would look like and at discounted rates um that you know have the ability to go above and beyond what is um you know promised in those

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1235.465

Um, the other things that I would need from people that may be listening is people with an audience. You know, I feel like we've done a good job of promoting people. There's times where we left people at like the, the three hour content creator episode. There were so many people that I was like, we look back and it's like, damn, forgot that person. Right.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1251.229

But if you have a platform, I got to build this thing back up from essentially zero. Um, and I would appreciate, uh, that right. If you, you know, he had me on, right. I'm not going to go to you specifically and ask, but I would, I would appreciate that as I try and build, uh, build this thing back up. Oh, it's draft months. I'm going to be busy.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1269.513

So I'm not saying it's all going to happen in two weeks, but I would appreciate that.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1273.875

um i you know i'd like to set up an online store and everything that goes with that i got to kind of figure out some of that stuff i'd like to have some basic merchandise um but you know we'll we'll see how um you know that all goes this is this is all brand new to me and and i'm excited about it but the thing that makes me feel the most comfortable is that i've spent six years trying to do right by giants nation

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

129.728

tell the truth and i just feel like i have to be honest obviously i don't need to share every little detail about everything but i do need i feel like i need the audience oh oh that especially the fact that myself and justin aren't doing the show together anymore be one thing if me and him both left and just wanted to start our own thing but that's not what happened um i wanted to start with the main reason that this is happening right that i'm doing giants nation show and no longer with jumbo meteor talking giants

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1301.235

And being genuine in everything I do instead of, you know, selling out to try and get every click possible for the company or, you know, whatever. And I hope that you guys have seen that. And listen, I just mentioned a lot of the structure is going to stay the same. I don't have a co-host quite yet. Grump essentially is the co-host for draft month.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1322.039

But again, I've told anyone who I've talked about that possibly could be something is that I am not making any decision or even inkling, especially the first month, but the first three months and then July, I want to see what we have here. But we have fun things coming forward. A Cam Ward breakdown. I don't know if I'm going to put that out maybe tonight or tomorrow. Working on a mock draft.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1344.816

A Travis Hunter breakdown. Mason Graham. And more. I'm excited about it. And I believe in this vision. And I hope you guys do too. So it's no longer Talking Giants versus the world. But... it will be giants nation show for life. I mean, I think this is a for life thing. I mean, maybe someone comes and gives me this crazy offer and I was like, whoops, sorry, cancel your patrons.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1363.621

But I, I don't think that's going to happen. Cause I like, I like having the control of my life. So, but the patron is the key I need to your guys support. Uh, I believe in this and I trust in it. I need to get through the next three months, but this is the key. And it's patreon.com slash giants nation. There's two D tiers. Um,

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1383.655

you know, the $6 a month, but I would really encourage if, if you're able, right, do the $10 a month. And if you're not able to do the $6 a month, just subscribe and share with your friends that, you know, Bobby's going out on his own with a new show called giants nation show. Um,

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1398.975

which hey i'm reintroducing that that used to be the name of the show that i i once created but gotta get through the next three months patreon.com slash giants nation um truly truly appreciate that because it's it's you know it's a little scary right it is a little bit scary to go out and do this and not know how much money it's going to come in the next month so so you know thank you thank you guys again in advance for everything you guys done but i do want to share more but i want to talk about

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1427.225

the bare basics of what happened and what the future looks like. But I kind of want to talk about what really happened with John Boy. You know, I started the Giants Nation podcast with Danny King in 2019 in January. And then we joined on with John Boy Media where, you know, they were first getting rolling with their Yankee stuff and they, you know, we turned it into Talking Giants.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1449.772

Did it for free for the first year, obviously. And then went full-time on a smaller salary in September of 2020. And a salary that I'm still extremely grateful for, and I always will be. In that year, 2020, we added Justin Pennick.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1465.675

uh with danny king you know going away from school you know we kept him on as a blogger and stuff um hell you know we even had another guy anthony tomena who you know never forget him he worked with us he did draft stuff with me and he ended up um passing away sadly um you know we always you know love and miss anthony uh and in 2022 or you know very beginning of 2022 justin and i got new deals justin may have got his a little later because they were kind of a mess with some stuff um

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

But I took less money, but not a ton less money to stay in Florida. And I was very happy about it, right? Was not complaining, was extremely happy.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1503.331

had a really good relationship with john boyd during these times we saw eye to eye on a ton of things justin and i did the show um justin edited quite a bit um but i also you know paid somebody out of pocket to get the shows on youtube early on um you know while again still being a full-time employee and i was you know ghetto editing my videos staying up all night like again i viewed this as my baby and i truly think it is you know the 2021 season

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1529.774

I would stay up until 4 and 5 a.m. on Monday nights doing the O-line report because I didn't get the film until midnight. And then just to get the film, I'd have to go to the NFL Euro Game Pass because they ruined the regular one. And so it would be released at midnight or whatever. I would have to screen record the entire film file and then do the O-line report.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1550.973

So it would be up until 4 to 6 a.m. in the morning doing the O-line report.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1555.257

uh because i didn't get the film until then and then i would wake up at 7 a.m work on the film review get the film review done and do the mailbag pod later that day and which i would go through and select all the questions right i did you know every single free agent and draft breakdown pre and post um to try and grow that channel i did reaction videos and news uh you know after news and games you know

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

157.327

I was given two contract offers by John Boy Media. One to move to New York and one to stay in Florida, you know, where I live, obviously. Similar to, you know, the dynamic at the end of 2021, where they gave me two offers, but very different.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1577.233

I ran all the social media accounts from start to finish, except for a two month period where they would post our tweets onto the Instagram. I would send them the tweets that I had done. They would post them on Instagram and then they complained that it was too much. And I just like, all right, you know what? Screw it. Give it back to me. That's fine.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1592.089

As long as I know it's getting done because it wasn't getting done. Um, you know, I did mock drafts, you know, obviously those have a lot of editing help with whether it was Julian or Jeff, you know, but I also, you know, I paid out of pocket for Danny King to run the game day social accounts and I booked every guest.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1607.118

I did more episodes on my own and, but I never complained about the dynamic of it because I was happy. I love talking giants, but I viewed it as my own, right? This is not, you know, an ESPN show or a TV show where you go on it and if you leave, they replace you and it stays the same most likely. Again, what I'm not okay with in all this is it's not the offers.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1631.668

It's not the offers that bother me, but that's not the reason why I'm mad. It feels like they're taking my baby from me. I don't care if they gave me those offers, fired me, or called me mean names. The whole world knows who Talking Giants should belong to. It was mine before I joined John Boy. It was mine when I did it for free while working full-time.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1651.95

It was mine when it was built up into something good. But again, I will let the people decide on what should happen to it. And again, it's not like they gave me this big offer and I turned it down. They're like, well, you're going to turn that down? No, they forced me to do this. And also, hey, you don't get to take your baby with you.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1670.594

And again, I wanted to wish Justin and John Boy Media well on this episode. And just talk all about the future of Talking Giants or, you know, even if they want me to change the name, but just keep the properties. But I feel like I've been spit on out the door. And listen, I will be fine. I trust you guys. I will be fine. John Boy Media will be fine as well too, right?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1692.852

They're a baseball company and a warehouse company. They're used to people hating on them, right? So, you know, and whatever. But like this doesn't change anything for them really at the end of the day. They have every right to not be interested in what I'm selling, right?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1707.031

The person who comes out of this all the worst, I think actually is Justin because now he's got the security that he desired, but then what, like, you know, what, what happens in the future with him, you know?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1717.653

And again, I, I generally wanted to keep Justin and do this for a long time, but, but it just, it did not work out, but here, but the reason why I think things didn't work out with John boy media is first, nothing lasts forever.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

173.32

Jake who was like the number two at the company was you know the you know like sidekick to John Boy when they started the company reached out to me he's kind of he's on I don't know exactly what his title is but he's the person that I deal with he reached out to me a couple weeks ago asking if I was interested in moving to New York because I wasn't you know I didn't take the offer to move to New York in 2021 and I told him it depends on the numbers right I'm not going to

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1730.328

um but they will say if they say anything right like you know if they're if i were them i'd probably just be quiet and and let it go but whatever that i it's because i didn't move to new york and the lack of success with the nfl coverage and guess what they're right that that is the reason why i'm not working with john boy media anymore the issue is we disagree on what the why for those both things

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1755.575

You know, they didn't want me in New York to grow Talking Giants or NFL coverage. But it would have helped in theory, right? I can do more events. We can do more streaming stuff, etc. There's ways it could have helped. The issue is that they want me there to be a part of their office culture and their warehouse games where they play wiffle ball and, you know, and cricket or whatever.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1777.478

And it would have made me being up there would have made football coverage worse. They would have had me stuck in the warehouse every Thursday playing blitz ball. It was literally in like, and I'm not just guessing that it was literally in the contract that they offered me to move up there. And they've also done it to Justin too.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1793.343

It would have been a wild detriment to Talking Giants and the NFL coverage for me to be up there because of those reasons. Because it wasn't actually there to be there to grow those things. It would have been there to keep them happy. Justin was not really adding a lot to the preview pods this year. And we do all our off-season pods on Thursday, but they would have him...

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1817.093

in the warehouse and I would carry the load on those and you know the football today shows and I'm not mad at Justin for that like that has nothing that's not his fault like how are we going to do it but how are we going to do an NFL show while we're eliminating a day of the week

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1831.42

Um, like how, and, and, you know, adding two to three hours of commute on an around the clock job, like it just would have hurt talking giants and football coverage. And the proof is, you know, what I saw them do the Justin.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1842.666

Um, and again, this is not taking into account the fact that I've been making less money due to the state income taxes, then having higher cost of living uprooting my entire life. A month after getting medical, uh, married being removed from my family's lives in critical years where we're, you know, my siblings are having kids, you know, you know, I plan to maybe have kids.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1861.155

in the next couple of years, like that's crazy to think I would jump at that. And the NFL coverage didn't work because one, and I'm not saying it would have worked otherwise, but one, it was my distant second priority. I don't know what priority it was for Justin, but I actually think Justin did kind of make it a priority. And it was like Chris Rose's eighth priority.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1883.635

You know, like it wasn't even his first football priority, right? He did work for the NFL, you know, network and it's not his fault. Like why would he prioritize that? Like he'd be crazy to. But they just refused to hire anyone to make it their first priority. And once we accepted that, though, that's when I was like, all right, bring Justin on football today. Let's try and do this.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1904.136

And me and Justin went in. Like, we did team profiles and projections on every team, except for the last one, because... Whatever. But we, like, and it honestly ruined, like, June and July for us. It sucked. Or July and August. Like, it sucked doing all this. We were doing long episodes, recapping the games, doing long previews, you know, doing a midweek show.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1925.552

And I actually thought it was somewhat growing. And, like, we were putting together a good show and working our asses off, right? Like, on Sunday. So, let you go through a schedule of this season early on because it changed. Yeah. When the change is what messed it up. Let's just slow. The Giants play at 1 o'clock on Sunday. So we got to do all our recap and stuff like that.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1946.673

Justin sometimes would have to be traveling back from the game. He did the tailgates in the morning. So we would do all the Talking Giants coverage, and then we'd try and watch Sunday Night Football while taking notes. And as soon as Sunday Night Football would end, I would watch two condensed games until about 1 o'clock or so in the morning, taking notes.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

1963.397

Then we'd wake up at 7 in the morning and just watch games all the way through 11. Again, we wanted to have a good show. If we can't have all this supplemental content or someone who's really growing the channel with... That being the number one priority, we at least wanted to watch the games and not just be going off of stats and stuff. And we were busting our ass to preview.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

just say no like first of all i don't want to move to new york i just got married my family is here i grew up here my church is here my whole support system is here and you know i like to be a support system for other people but i wanted to at least hear them out and and the fact that there are advantages of being up there for this job although they were not really wanting me up there for those advantages let me get a drink of water

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

I thought it was actually a good product. Did I think it was going to grow a ton right away? No, because there wasn't really much that was being done outside of that to promote it. But I think it was growing and it was doing a good show. And then they nuked it. In October, they were saying the episodes are too long, it's not growing fast enough, blah, blah, blah.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

Even though it was growing compared to what it was before. And they said it is mandatory that these episodes are less than 30 minutes. Like not just, hey, let's keep it around 30 minutes. Like if this episode is at 32 minutes, the editor is instructed to cut out two minutes and one second to make it less than 30 minutes. And the views plummeted. And it became a shitty show.

And at that point, I just knew that football coverage was never going to work with advice like that. Um, you know, and they kept on using the line when every week we talk about bringing somebody on to do football stuff of, Oh, you know, Jake would say me and John boy started talking baseball, uh, while doing talking Yanks. And that's true. But the reality is that John boy did the breakdowns.

they also in that same meeting tried to take our patreon away and we refused um we had it from the beginning um and they knew about it in fact i asked john boy for you know advice on on how to do it because they did it with talking yanks um but they're basically they started their sub stack and like well we can't let all the other creators do patreons it's been a gray area blah blah blah

The offer to move to New York was $3,000 more per year. And I won't get into what my salary was, but asking me to move myself and my wife and leave our entire lives behind was shocking for that amount of money. I mean, forget the fact that the difference in state taxes is more than $3,000. I'm actually making less money just state taxes.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

but you want me to move my wife less than a month after being married to New York for less net pay, before we talk about cost of living or anything, away from my family, my support system, add two hours minimum of commute to my day on a job that you don't clock in and out of.

It was laughable to me, but I also wasn't mad because I didn't want to move to New York, and that made that decision extremely easy for me. So I asked, is there an offer to stay in Florida? There was.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

285.171

the offer to stay in Florida was to become a contractor so losing all my you know benefits of being a full-time employee and to cut my salary in half to cut my salary in half half again that's lose the benefits and it is cut in half you know imagine an apple you cut it and I was shocked But not actually that shocked.

Their selling point to me being, though, well, you can seek outside ventures to make money, and you don't do any more football today, NFL coverage, just talking Giants. But at that point, I knew I was leaving as soon as I got that offer. But I had a feeling that this was all going to end, you know, eventually, right?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Maybe about a year ago and definitely had a feeling a little less than a month ago because Justin was offered and signed a contract to stay with them before they even approached me about one. And I was kind of tipped off that they were going to offer me a New York full-time contract or as a remote contractor. And I let Justin know, like, I'm not going to take less money

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

So, I mean, at this point, I'm annoyed and I feel a bit disrespected by John Boy Media, but wanting to go our own separate ways and no hard feelings. With Justin, I was respecting his decision to choose a couple years of job security over keeping this together.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

Like, I had asked Justin before he signed his contract if he could wait until I have some type of offer because, again, I told him loud and clear that I was not going to take less money from the company and I wasn't moving to New York for nothing. And, you know, Justin and I had conversations for some time about what leaving would look like. And that's and that's what I wanted to do at this point.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

440.115

Right. We had talked about it and I finally was at a point where I wanted to do that. I wanted to either stay at my salary and keep things the way they were or leave with Justin and split essentially everything 50 50 between me and him. And I was willing to make less money to keep this together and do it on our own. Because I loved it, right?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

461.513

Like I loved talking giants and I valued keeping it together with me and Justin more than short-term financial benefits. Justin told me that he's signing because that was the security he was looking for.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

I told him that I don't think it's great for him to do that long-term, but if he wants to look out for himself without me, that I hope it works out with John Boy Media, but I'm not taking less money from them, right? I was hoping like if they want to keep me at the same salary, fine, but I'm not taking less money.

And then Monday last week, they tell me they're keeping talking giants and that they want me to reconsider the contractor agreement of making half my salary and losing my benefits. This is the toughest part, and I'm actually re-recording this because this part, because I'm mad at Justin, and I can't just sit on here and say that I'm not. You know, this is, again, the part where I struggled with the most with what I wanted to share. In fact, again, I'm re-recording this part. One, because you guys have come to know and love the show that was me and Justin.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

And I'm sure some people are glad that they can listen to me or him without the other. But most people enjoyed the dynamic of myself and Justin. And I wish I could sit here and say we're going to do reunion shows and go support him and no hard feelings. But there just is hard feelings. But I still care about Justin. There is no one else that I wanted to do Giants content with.

But I hate the way that I feel about him right now. I do. But I do feel anger. And, you know, I thought it was truly us against the world. No ditty, but that's what I thought. And I still care about Justin and his family and his issues, but I just have a lot of bad feelings about... Against him right now. And I really don't want to say any more. Anything more. Welcome to the Giants Nation show. I'm your host Bobby Skinner. Alone, on my own, doing this. You see it in the title. I've left John Boy Media and Talking Giants. Not that I've left Talking Giants. They're keeping Talking Giants. And Justin Panik is staying. I'm going to tell you what happened in this episode. You know, and first of all, I really want to thank anyone who's ever supported.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

But I want to talk about the future. Because that's what really matters. You know. You guys aren't here for drama. You guys are here. For Giants content. So again. I want to talk more about things. You know. I'll explain some more things. How things went down. But. What's next. Is what's really important. Instead of. You know. What already happened. Because that's what matters.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

At the end of the day. You will still. You guys will support me. For Giants content. Not blind loyalty. You're not my fan. You know. We're like a fan. But we're not actually family. Things will be different. Obviously. I hate when shows, like in people, they change or they leave a place and they say nothing is going to change. And obviously it does. It's impossible to not.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

623.601

big one is justin not being the co-host but there still would have been some changes if justin had left as well and one thing that's going to change is the thing that i'm relying on i'm not relying on a salary anymore patreon the patreon is going to be what i hope keeps this alive it is what gave me the confidence to do this they wanted to take it uh from us in october and we told them no um

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

Patreon.com slash Giannis Nation. And the biggest change is I had to get rid of the $2 tier and make it $6 per month. It just doesn't make any sense financially to have a $2 tier when the Patreon is making up the majority of my income, at least early on in this venture. You know, it was great as a little bit of extra cash before now, but now I'm relying on it.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

669.547

And I'm also really asking if you guys consider the $10 tier. You know, 100 people in the $10 tier is equal to 167 in the $6 tier. Um, and again, I, this not going to have this plea to the listeners basically ever again. But I have to do it on this episode because this is what I will be relying on. Especially, I don't have ads lined up.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

691.654

YouTube AdSense isn't enough, especially as I have to build from zero, essentially, without the, you know, the channels and the social media platforms that I created. This is, it's going to be this loyal base who really believes in me and believes in the content that is going to help it. And I ask that you do that if you're not a Patreon member already.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

712.368

Uh, now people who are already, already are patrons, um, you know, and we never really offered a ton on the patron. That's why, you know, we weren't, we never felt like, oh, we shouldn't be raising the price on this. But I gave the people who were on Patreon a one-day warning that I was going to change. Which is not a lot of time.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

729.387

But asking if you stay, but if, you know, cancel, reconsider, whatever. Or even upgrade to the $10 tier. Like, I would ask that if you're already a Patreon. But because there wasn't a lack of warning and not everyone sees every post that goes out and doesn't have notifications. If you are in the Patreon and you got charged, you know, changed to the $6 tier and charged...

um and don't want to message me and i'll reimburse you and i'm very sorry about that no and listen there's no hard feelings if you like like hey i have to cancel my subscription it's not what it's not what you signed up for so like how could i ever have any bad will against that trust me like it's annoying how everything is a subscription like i'm you know i'm pissed off at the tv every time what you know which subscription do we have to watch you know use to watch whatever

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

775.058

um and i and i hope to get to a place you know selling ads where i can drop the price back to two dollars a month and that would be really good really cool but here's what will be include a change about the patreon uh the biggest change i think is that film reviews the in-season film reviews you know breaking down the games all 17 they will be on patreon only um the reasons for this is one you have to have something that you put exclusively behind it and i thought the film review was a perfect one for a couple reasons one

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

804.088

it gets demonetized on youtube the nfl has gotten very strict about film mostly it's the side angle so like the o-line report o-line d-line ones don't get flagged as much but like any you put a big throw on them and they get demonetized and they definitely get demonetized when it's a good game for your team because i don't know what happens but they just flag those things so that and when the giants aren't good which my business is really hoping they are good this year um

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

832.259

the views are terrible on it but people but it's valuable it's not something i would ever not do because one it's where i create all my takes right from the film you're watching the film the you know putting together the film review that's where i create my takes on the coaching staff and their play calling and their philosophies and the backup defensive tackle and all that i have to do the film review to make all the show work um so the film review will be on patreon only

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

We will still do the show live on Patreon, so you get early access to the show. And I will send new stickers, obviously, to the new Patreon members. Now that we're changing the tier, you get two free stickers. I know, what a freaking deal. But any existing Patreon members, resend me your address and the messages, and I will send you the new stickers when they get in. Okay.

And for all the support you guys have shown me for six years. I hope to keep it, whether it came from the 2019 Daniel Jones breakdowns, deep ball, third down, the O-line reports that started in 2020, the recap shows, which really started to get bigger, playoff live streams or whatever. You guys have made it possible for me to stand up for myself in this career, and I'm truly appreciative.

And here's something about Patreon. Sometimes it's like, oh, I didn't respond for three days. I don't open any message until I'm ready to, you know, write an envelope and fill it and send it because I don't want to make sure I lose anybody. So if you

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

895.191

know if you think like oh i went two days without you know getting a response that's why it's because like waiting for supplies or whatever but we'll send new stickers and then the t-shirt contest we'll still do one for the cheaper tier the six dollar we'll do one and we're gonna do two extra ones for the ten dollar tier so instead of before it was two for the regular tier and then a bonus one for the ten dollar tier it's it's

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

reversing and then obviously the $10 tier is more stickers and it's just the $10 tier is more valuable not putting a ton more behind that but just would really appreciate if you considered um that especially early on and maybe we can add some new perks and brainstorm some you know that on the private twitter you know there's a private twitter account where it's not that cool but

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

bogged down with all the content that was on the John Boy Media Football YouTube and I just didn't want to put all the work in for them and then not to do well but I thought it'd be good to have like a separate thing that could grow outside of Talking Giants and did that and I was actually going to keep Giants Nation Show and Bobby's Breakdown separately but my wife convinced me when I was like damn I'm making this Cam Ward Breakdown and that should be a good way to grow it early on but it's on Bobby's Breakdowns and it's like just just change it and you know what that's right

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

I Left Talkin' Giants & Jomboy Media | 1

992.626

um the other changes o-line reports will not be a weekly series that was something i decided before i left i decided at the end of last season it's just they get very repetitive over a 17 week season and i just don't enjoy doing them when they get repetitive that doesn't mean there will be o-line reports it's just not going to be every week and it's not like all right well now we're doing less content it's actually to free up

Right. We haven't done our QB draft preview. That'll be the next full fledged episode. But people kind of know my feelings. Where are you at with Shador Sanders? If the Giants were the draft quarterback at three, who he seems like the guy who would be the most likely pick there?

I'm in a similar place, right? Like everyone talks about quarterbacks and taking swings and taking chances. But in reality, I guess everyone has a different philosophy. Mine is, do I believe that quarterback is going to be a top 10 quarterback, capable of being a top 10 quarterback? And even if I have doubts, are there things that make you want to bet on working on it with Shador?

So people talk about the arm talent and lack of athleticism, right? I think he's got NFL arm talent. Again, not great arm talent, not top quarterback in the NFL arm talent, but he has NFL arm talent. You mentioned Andy Dalton. Andy Dalton has NFL arm talent. He's been a longtime NFL quarterback. He's really accurate, right? I like the accuracy. He's going to be accurate.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

Those types of quarterbacks who are accurate, run quick game, and have an NFL arm, Nick, they last in the NFL, right? They last. But what do they last as? A lot of times they last as bottom half quarterbacks or top tier backups. But if he had the elite processing and anticipation that people talked about, I would say, hey, I don't need him to have the best arm.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

1869.733

If he has that type of anticipation, that ability to process post-snap, then we're there. But unfortunately, that's where I think my biggest worry comes from with Shador. Is that paired with the lack of elite backers?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

1882.503

you know, intangibles of arm strength, or not intangibles, lack of elite arm strength and athleticism, is I see a guy who, when he gets different rotation disguises thrown, or coverage disguises thrown at him, gets confused and doesn't know where to go and takes sacks and throws interceptions that time.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

1899.42

I see a guy who doesn't operate the middle of the field so much the way that Joe Burrow did coming out of college who has been the comparison I don't see the anticipation right you look at you know quarterbacks um who throw between 10 and 20 yards out of last like five drafts I think he was like the second lowest um only to Bo Nix um And we know a lot of the short game and stuff.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

So the offensive line wasn't good, but I thought he made it worse at times. People will look at the Nebraska game. The Nebraska game is not my worry with Shador. The offensive line was totally overwhelmed. He obviously made it worse a couple times with that pick six in the end zone. But that was a game where I thought the offensive plan and the offensive line did really bad.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

1941.167

It's all the other games where I just don't see this anticipation, right? That BYU game that everyone watched, the bowl game, the interception on that hole shot. And like, oh man, the receiver coughed it up. Man, he should have thrown that ball. Bang, bang, bang. And he just holds on to it, pulls it, and he gets his wide receiver lit up. So it's his fault that it's a bad play. It's...

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

1961.869

It's bad luck that the ball popped into another defender's hands on that play. But I just don't see it. I did a 45-50 minute breakdown on him, and that's where I hammered this. I don't see this, which is not a disqualifier for me to take you in the top 10 of the NFL draft as a quarterback.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

1979.625

But when you're pairing that with the lack of great arm talent and lack of great athleticism, well, then what am I really swinging on? And like you said, I think you're swinging on this guy being a top 12 consistent quarterback in the NFL. And that's your realistic ceiling. Obviously, like you said, ceiling is a... I kind of hate the word ceiling because it can mean anything.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

But the realistic ceiling, I think, is a guy who... is consistently a top two, a Kirk Cousins type quarterback in the NFL, which is not a bad thing, but I don't know if I'm swinging on that at pick three.

I would take Cam Ward first overall if I was the Tennessee Titans. But you also see... I'm sure you did some Jameis film. You see similarities at times where it's like, man, you really trust...

that a corner is going to take off with that post receiver. You're throwing the ball into DB's hands a little too often, and you're able to make up for it in college with 350 yards and four touchdowns. in the draft i know i don't know where you have him but i you know i look at the mock draft simulators and they have him at like you know 40 something on their big board i don't agree with that but he's someone who rushes with a plan right so again like you said is he going to be a great pass rusher no but he's someone who will take advantage of bad offensive tackle play which you get quite a bit of in the nfl and you can rack up you know five six sacks in a season if you get consistent playing time doing that if not then you know you'll get you know three four or whatever

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

3612.196

No, it does. Like, as a pass protector, like, I'm confident in him at guard. And guard has become one of the, I feel like, some of the harder positions to project to the NFL. And sometimes they end up being good, but their first two years struggle a lot. So it's a question of, like, you know, Kenyon Green and Zion Johnson, right? Those are two guys that I love, both of them.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

3632.257

And both are struggling, right? Kenyon Green is going to get fixed by the Eagles and it's going to drive me crazy. But it's just one of those positions. But with him, I feel like the guys who have had quicker success are the guys who move outside in into the NFL. And that's what Jonah is, right? Like he's going to play guard. Like you mentioned, he's extremely stout. And he's a controlled player.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

3651.606

Like in space, as a puller, moving to the second level does well. Like you said, in those pass sets, not going to be doing vertical sets at guard. But he's got the feet to move with interior guys where the edge rushers and the NFL, he probably doesn't. But it's just controlled and smooth at all times. And in the run game, you see a lot of good, right? Like some ass-kicking stuff.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

3674.851

The thing with him that is just... I feel like I need him to finish better. I feel like he kind of has a cookie-cutter approach to the run game. So when you're working duo, like you said, it's really good. I just think when D. I just feel like he doesn't rework his hands or torque as much as he should because, like you said, he's strong as shit. He's got good hand grip. He should be able to do those things. Just kind of getting a better understanding of that early on in his career, I feel like would do. I think that would make him a high-level guard in the NFL.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

Yeah, and again... I've kind of bought in on the guys who are going to move inside. Not because they look terrible at tackle. I'm like, oh, well, you'll just be fine at guard. But the guys who look good at tackle, but you see they have their moments. Like Marcus Bowe out of Purdue. Another guy who's very different than Jonah.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

Mid Round Draft Prospects w/ Nick Falato | 2

3828.984

But again, a guy who's like, you look good at tackle, but you have your moments that make me think you'd probably be better off kicking inside. That's the reason why Jalen Hyatt can't get on the playing field. It's not just, you know, oh, he can't run this route. It's like, no, you don't know where he's going to be, and he's not good enough to put on the front side or put the number one in progression consistently. Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

He's going to be a guy who draws a lot of penalties too because of his ability to kind of fight back to the ball on misplaced throws. So savvy wide receiver. We talked pre-show. Never going to be your number one guy, but he's someone that you can trust. And I think where he's better than Hodges, though, is the ability to make those plays down the field. Where Hodges, despite his side, never really made those contested or tough grabs, Pat Bryant really does do that. And that's something that can elevate him to having a better career than a guy like Hodges.

You're not... dreaming of him with a one-on-one with the safety in the open field, but he makes the most out of what is available within the offensive line, and there's a lot of times where the offensive line really struggled, and I think

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1057.549

I don't – even if there is, it doesn't matter. No. And like I said, I don't even know – part of me thinks we should have just not put him in. But here's why I wanted to put him in. If we're just talking strictly corner, like – I think there's an argument to be made that Will Johnson is better than Travis Hunter. Now, again, I'm taking Travis Hunter. I think he gives you just way more potential.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1079.707

He's going to give you – I just think Travis Hunter is better. But I think that's a legitimate conversation of who the better corner is, Will Johnson or Travis Hunter. Yeah.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1137.974

Right. And we can move on from Will Johnson in this episode. Who do you want to do an ad for? We don't have any ads. Is there anything you want to do an ad for? Yeah, I'm happy doing ads for drugs.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1153.399

yeah, uh, uh, our friend John Padrino Tortuga, um, he made a really good logo, right? Like the presented by drugs almost thought about making that just the official logo of, uh, of the show. Um, I'll say this, we got some draft sponsors locked in, um, and, and possibly training camp might be locked in some, some fun stuff coming ahead. Um, especially for, uh,

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1182.284

Especially for people, fans who have known Major League Baseball. How about that? All right. I'm excited. I feel like we should hit this guy next, even though he's not who I think is the next best. But he did have a 30 visit with the Giants. And that's Siobhan Rebel out of ECU, six foot, 294 pounds, 32 and five inches arms coming off of an ACL tear, right?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

119.003

And then I just feel like there's a lot of good, like, physical corner twos in this class. Again, not a ton of guys who are going to come in and be locked down, all pro, Pro Bowl corner ones, but just a big group of guys who are going to be physical. They're going to piss off receivers. They're going to do a good job being that second corner. They're going to get turnovers with good ball skills.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1207.471

Which is, it feels like a lot of these guys are coming off like injuries, right? With Will Johnson, Benjamin, uh, Morrison guys coming off injury. But, I feel like there's a good amount of undisciplinedness to his game. That's not a word, but it kind of is if you really think about it. But, man, it's like he is just – he is athletic. He's strong. He likes to hit.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1235.62

There is mental lapses, right, where he gets caught up on a pick, you know, a rub route. And it's just like, man, how did you not avoid this? And then, you know, you're giving up a 45-yard play. Times where he ends zone coverage and a receiver gets to his blind spot and runs right behind him. So there is issues there.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1255.979

but I just think he is so athletic and disruptive that like, that's a fun, that's like a fun guy to work with. And Siobhan rebel jr. Um, which again, sometimes we get excited about guys potential and then it's like, yeah, but they're not going to learn. They're not going to get better at these things. Um,

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1275.535

But just the way he's able to close space, be physical, and just be athletic in general, it's just like, man, just clean up some of the basic stuff with his length, and you've got, at worst, I think a good corner two. I'm confident he'll be a good corner two in the NFL.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1331.301

It feels like he's freestyling zone coverage a lot, right, where he's taking chances, but there's times where he's out of place. He gives up underneath stuff from off-coverage weight. He gives up the curls, the in-breakers.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1345.245

But like you said, it's like you're working with him, but I guess it kind of matters how do you feel coming off the injury and what's going on mentally with him because if you don't think he's going to put in the work to get better at all this stuff, then you stay away from him.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

139.67

And it's just like... Usually corner is a position where I hate a lot of the guys we talk about and been rumored to the Giants. And there's really not that with this group of guys that we're going to talk about. For me, at least.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1412.031

Right, so guys with the Siobhan Revel profile are guys that you can fall in love with, and then you get to the NFL, and it's like, yeah, but they just give up catches. And like I mentioned, he gives up the hitches, the in-breakers, and he plays kind of high.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1428.784

um for his height right like you watch some corners there you know they squat down low they get like his press is like you said extremely disruptive but he plays high and it just feels like he's just when the receivers are snappy at the top of the route it just loses him right on a cross and it doesn't need to be the fastest you know

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1445.456

You know, sometimes it's old Dominion wide receivers where they're running an over route and, you know, they're say they're running it to the right. They throw a little shoulder fake to the left and then, you know, continue that. And he's able to they're able to separate. Now, his athleticism in college is able to make up for that. Right.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1461.843

He had an interception where he's playing from way off coverage against Appalachian State. I think it was actually a flea flicker, but he just closes in. But in the NFL, that's not always going to happen. You know, you're facing teams that have two really good wide receivers. So that's my worry with Ravel.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1476.589

It's like you fall in love with this athleticism, the physicality and all that, but then you get to the NFL where you're facing NFL wide receivers every week and he just gives up catches. And that was, I think he's a very different profile from Deontay Banks, but that was my worry with Banks.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1493.434

It's like, man, there's a lot to love, but he loses the release and I don't think he's great at the catch point. And guys that lose the release and aren't great at the catch point give up catches in the NFL.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1578.587

Yeah, it's... I watch him and like him, but like I said, I worry he's a guy that gives up. Like I said, he can like all these things and gives up catches. But in college, he held his opponents the last two years to like 42% completion percentage. That's great. The issue is that he gave up like 17 yards per catch on the plays that he did give up. Now that can be over influential.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1602.962

Again, there was one play where they run like a...

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1606.983

like a slant flat and then just he runs into the nickel corner just runs into him and they you know they get a 45 yard play on it and that's counts the same as him giving up just losing a ball vertically and it's not the same but it's still not good um so and then just like the mental lapses in his own coverage i just i feel like um there but again he is someone i'm willing to take a risk on but i am also have some worries um like you do the next guy i want to talk about

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1637.103

Is a guy that I really like. And I think we may differ a little bit on this one. And that's Notre Dame's cornerback. Benjamin Morrison. 6 foot 193 pounds. 30 and a quarter inch arms. He has a hip injury. And that may be why he's not viewed. The way he once was viewed. And he's got a showcase on April 21st. The Monday before the draft. Where he's going to work out for NFL teams.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1664.097

And maybe that will make a decision. But ignoring that, I love the Benjamin Morrison film. You know, he's given up less than 50% completion percentage the last three years. He doesn't give a lot of yards per catch. You know, he has nine interceptions and 12 pass breakups and 31 career games. Again, it doesn't give those big plays. He pisses off wide receivers.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1693.838

You can see them getting pissed off because he just plays on your ass all game long. Physical, again, he doesn't have this big press profile. He's 6'30 and 2 1⁄8". He's not the fastest guy in the world, but he just, he is just on you from beginning of the snap to, uh, to the end and every single, um, play. Right. But it's just, I think he's fairly quick. He stays in phase.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1720.357

He just like, he's someone who pounces from his back pedicle, uh, From his back pedal really well. And he just disrupts. It's hard to get releases off on him. Sometimes when you see these guys. Who are like that. You'll see them just get sauced at the release. That didn't happen. I went and watched the Marvin Harrison Jr. Matchup last year. There was one slant where Marvin Harrison Jr.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1743.553

Turned him around. And outside of that, it didn't happen. And he knows how to play through wide receivers' hands to go and disrupt the pass when it is tighter coverage. He's not someone who's going to be turning his head and being an interception hunter, even though he had six interceptions a few years ago. But he just plays in this low, squatty position. And pisses you off.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1766.264

And then you put him in off coverage. Like he's patient to not let these wide receivers get these in breakers on him. Like a lot of guys that we're going to talk about where it's like, oh, they're good at this. They're good at this. But they give up in breakers and hitches because they don't trust themselves in off coverage.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1781.652

Or when they play man coverage, they overextend trying to cover vertically. It just doesn't happen with Benjamin Morrison. And I think he's a first round talent. The hip injury obviously can change shit. Um, and maybe, and again, I think that's probably the reason why, but I, I love Benjamin, uh, Benjamin Morrison's film.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1817.735

Like, or at least I don't think he is. So, which is like, might be nice.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

1833.887

He has a showcase on the Monday of draft week, too. So that'll be the first time people see him work out since the injury.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

2002.608

But you know how I said he pisses receivers off? I think he gets the blocking effort of wide receivers that other guys don't get because that's their chance to like, I get to put my hands on this guy and try and hurt him, right? And it turns into these fights. So again, but... like you said, the negative is that when those times happened, he, he lost, right.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

2026.128

Whereas like he's getting, there's time where he's getting driven eight yards off the line or scrimmage. And that's, I don't want to make that sound like a good thing, but I do feel like, you know, like you said, I watch, I watch all the run plays for corners and wide receivers too. I will like, it's a part of doing this draft stuff. Um,

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

204.449

Right. So we'll get into all and a lot of just press guys as well, too. A lot of physical guys, a lot of their I think their flaws are are similar as well. Not going to announce the patrons on this show. It's late. Was kind of cramming to get it all in. But I will say for the patrons, the stickers. All 3,000 of them were delivered today, which I'm extremely excited about.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

2044.301

And a lot of college guys just have their wide receivers just run a fancy release and then release outside and just occupy the corner. He got blocks from guys. But I really like him. The hip is obviously a huge question mark, but also that's why it probably makes him as an option for the Giants. Obviously at 34, but I think there's chances of him being available at 65.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

2069.092

You see him in the simulators and consensus kind of go around that time. That could be the nice time to take a swing on a guy who I think is a first-round talent, but it's not going to go in the first round more likely than not. But I really like Benjamin Morrison. The next guy you really like, Maxwell Harrison of Kentucky. So you like him a lot. I'll let you kind of introduce him.

I mean, he's just grumpy. He plays the position like a wide receiver, right? Like he understands where these passing concepts are going. He knows where to key in on quarterbacks and what they're looking at. and it's just like his ball skills are not just, oh, he can go up and make a nice grab. He does. Or not that, oh, he can close in on a ball and break it up.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

He gave up 17 catches in 12 games, 33 targets, but only 141 yards. He gave up eight yards per catch. I think that's the best out of the group that we're looking at when it comes to that. He had five pass breakups, didn't give up any touchdowns. He was an imposing force for that FSU defense. You watch Cam Ward film.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

2908.476

I don't think Cam Ward played bad against FSU, but FSU was the one team that basically stopped him from doing the superpower stuff that he was able to do, and I think Azaria Thomas was a part of that. I thought that was a game where Cam Ward played quick game well, and I feel like it was like, okay, he can play controlled if a defense is trying to take this stuff away.

We talk about turning the head where it's like he just knows when that ball is coming, and he's able to telegraph it from miles away, and that's why he's able to get his hands on the football so much because – He knows, okay, the receiver's breaking here. This is where the ball is going to come out.

Right. All right. We're going to finish off with someone that you fell in love with at the senior bowl grump. Um, and I'm going to be honest, I didn't get to the film on him because it was my sister-in-law's birthday party. I did watch film at my sister-in-law's birthday party, like a fucking Gruden grinder. Um, but I was not able to get the Quincy Riley and he's your guy.

So I'm going to let you talk about him.

Let me turn my head, find the quarterback, and make a play.

As someone who hasn't watched his film, I think you're totally wrong, and he sucks. No, but I actually – I'm a scumbag. We talked about him on the Senior Bowl recap, so I remember I was like, I'll let you pick the eighth guy, and we were talking last night, and you're like, can we just do Quincy Riley? I was like, I was just going to tell you to do Quincy Riley, so glad you were able to do it.

And I'm sorry that my sister-in-law had to pass our birthday party on the day that we're recording the cornerback preview. So the show's over.

It's a lot. It's very expensive. But I was like, you know what? Like, at least for the draft, right? We're going to be streaming the entire draft. I don't want to have it getting blurry or whatever. Like, I just want it to be perfect, right? Because, you know, I'm going to have... streaming on one computer. I'll have the other computer that I'm using.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

3330.663

I'll have another iPad streaming to get clips and stuff like that. I just was like, you know what? I'm just going to upgrade to the fastest internet possible to get for your home. It was fiber 5 gigs. It's expensive, but I was just like, you know what? It's worth it. If it's not amazing, I'm going to be pissed off.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

Because, like, film drives, like, that I've used, like, that usually take, like, four minutes to download or taking 11 minutes. And I was like, I can't have this happen for the draft.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

Yeah. Um, Gosh, dude, every time someone brings up, and Julian did too today because we didn't do Daylon Gabriel on the draft preview. He's like, I hope you have another choreo thought. That is my worst fear is like, you know, you know me. I'm preparation, preparation, preparation, right? I like to have everything planned out and ready to go.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

The biggest fear is, like, you have this big moment, exciting weekend, and then it's like, yeah, I don't know who this guy is at pick 65. Like, there's just no bigger fear than pick 65 being someone I don't know. Right? I'll be fine for the round one and round two. There's no chance of that happening. Where last year, it was just, like, amazing, where it's, like, obviously first round good.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

And then we had everyone except for Moasau. And I was like, okay, that's fine.

Welcome to the Giants Nation Show. I'm your host, Bobby Skinner, here with my co-host, the football crump. The crump? No, we're talking corners, not groiners. The football grump. And we're looking at corners, doing our corner preview. A little behind, so back-to-back episodes. Quarterback and then quarterback Thursday and Friday. It's going to start with Travis Hunter.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

um all right that's an episode we'll be back again monday connor rogers uh doing a little mock draft exercise and then i'll give some of my thoughts on the wide receivers and then grump will be back wednesday and friday for uh edge and o-line previews and then uh you know we're just coming right up on the draft so appreciate you guys have a great weekend we'll see you then until then let's go big blue

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

You can tell in his game how much he understands what they're running, right? Like, he cheats his leverage so much, right? Like, he will straight up, it looks like he's lined up on the wrong guy how much he'll cheat. And he's like, I know a dig's coming here, so I'm going to cheat inside.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

405.9

and these wide receivers are trying to run a dig route, and they just have nowhere to go because he's just standing there like a wall being like, go here, because this is where you're trying to go. And even if they take those vertical, well, he's got the quickness, the loose hips to turn and run with them as well.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

421.147

And if that ball's not thrown perfect, he's going to get his head around, and he's going to leap and make plays. You think of that UCF vertical where he just gets up after it. A shame he didn't bring that in, but just a really nice play.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

435.013

And then in zone, you know, like you again, another UCF play where KJ Jefferson, they run post wheel and he's supposed to carry the wheel and KJ Jefferson gets pressured and he just bails out on that. Right. Where, again, this may be like a difference of college and NFL or an NFL QB, you know, makes a guy miss and sees the wheel wide open and throws it. But he knows. He's throwing the underneath.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

458.49

He's throwing the flare out from the running back or whatever it was and just pounces and is able to intercept it. So when you put him in zone coverage, his IQ is just top notch. You watch the man put coverage and fall in love with him, but the zone coverage is just where he just understands everything that that offense is trying to run, and he's taking advantage of it pretty consistently. Yeah.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

534.727

Yeah, that's just where you see, okay, this is why this guy's on a different level. Now, I'll say this. He's not a perfect corner. He has some weaknesses, right? The slants. He gives up the slants, right? Because he's looking to stop other routes, and he gives up those plays. The guy from Stanford got him on that one.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

554.011

And I think the thing that shows up most consistently that I'm not too worried about because his ball skills will make quarterbacks pay if they try this too often, when he's going up against a bigger receiver at 188 pounds, there's just a lot of times where they make tough grabs, right?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

57.273

We'll finish with Grump's guy, Quincy Riley from Louisville at the end. A Colorado and a Louisville guy, just like yesterday's episode. Grump, how are we doing? You're doing good.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

574.243

Like even like ball in both guys' hands, right, where it's just like, oh, great Travis Hunter play, and they're able to rip that ball away from him. Like, that's basically, like, I just saw him lose, not all the time, obviously, but I just saw him lose contested catches. Oklahoma State had a couple.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

591.597

You know, you go back to that Stanford game from 2023 where he gave up a couple in that game, and then he gave up, you know, the one in overtime. I just, you see that pretty consistent. I don't think that's something that, again, that's going to,

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

606.601

stop him from succeeding I think it's going to be something I think he's not going to be that I think he's a corner that's going to give up some yards right I don't think we're looking at a sauce gardener type of corner um one I think sauce was a better corner coming out from Cincinnati where we just hold receivers to less than 200 yards in a year and it's unreal or Jalen Johnson

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

625.642

I view him more in the Derek Stingley type of player where he's going to give up like 400 yards a season. He might have a season where he gives up 600, 650, but he's going to have pass breakups. He's going to get interceptions, and he's going to make quarterbacks pay for targeting him too often.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

712.42

In college, I think he did get a little bit of star treatment. Or they didn't call it on him a lot. But there was a lot of times where one of my notes was physical and press.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

721.168

but gets way too grabby past five yards you know or they'll be turned like you put them in cloud coverage he'll he can jam a receiver into the sideline put him on their ass but there's also times where he's he's thrown a jam at like eight yards and that's going to turn into a you know take a third and eight and turn it into a first down so

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

739.364

That is – I think that's just something that comes with basically every corner nowadays unless you're fucking, you know, Patrick Sertan Jr. But, you know, like, you know, Sauce Gardner's really grabby. J.C. Horn's really – like, all these – it seems like all these guys are like that. And it's just kind of like you got to play with it consistently so refs don't call – so it's not like a –

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

760.936

It's a weird thing. I think Richard Sherman kind of was living proof of this where if you're physical all the time, the referees are not going to call penalties on you. Where if you're not physical like that and then you do get grabby on a third down, well, they're going to give it to you. This is not the edge preview grump, but where are you in the Travis Hunter versus Abdul Carter?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

77.347

It feels like a – obviously, you have Travis Hunter, Will Johnson. We're not doing Jadae Barron just because where he's like consensus is out of the Giants' range. They're just not going to take him. And if he gets in that range, we'll just watch him on Friday of the draft.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

785.645

Let's just pretend both are available at three. Who do you prefer?

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

831.586

Even if he fails a corner, it's like, well, we know he's going to be a good wide receiver, right, where that's. Wide receiver's a little more, like, clean. Like, he's going to be good. We don't need to worry about him busting for a lot of guys. And I think Hunter falls in that category.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

870.805

Let's move on to Will Johnson, the corner out of Michigan. I don't even know why we're putting him on here because he's probably not someone that's realistic for the Giants unless they were a team that traded down. 6'2", 194 pounds. You know, got injured this past year, only played six games.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

885.412

Grump, he was someone in our summer way too early draft preview, and he was someone like, man, if you had a top three pick, I can see him being... Um, a guy there and I, I still really like him, right? Like you look at his film from this year and I don't, I haven't come off on, on Will Johnson. Like he is, he, he were, I just, you know, mentioned Sartain. He reminds me of Patrick Sartain Jr.,

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

908.615

You know, where he's this big cornerback who just plays controlled from mostly off coverage and zone. And you thought that Wink would put him in a little more man situations. I guess maybe the couple games I walked from this year, he wasn't. But, like, he just plays, you know, physical from off coverage. And he just is extremely patient and smart. Like, he just stays square consistently.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

of day two so basically you're going everyone outside of that in like the top 100 or close to the top 100 in that and obviously you have hunter will johnson i don't know why will johnson has like went from uh like projected top three pick in the summer to now where people just don't talk about him at all maybe it's because we're in giant's land and he's not someone we're considering but i still think his film is really good hunter is obviously travis hunter and

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

He doesn't let wide receivers play games with him with, you know, foot jabs or head fakes. He just is always going to stay on top of them. And then his transitions from like back pedal to in phase is beautiful. His, uh, burst out, burst out of his back pedals as I feel like just okay, but he's got the ball skills. Um,

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

949.373

He's vulnerable to hitches and ends like a lot of corners are, but you put him in zone coverage, he does the two-man concept, he's going to wash the quarterback's eyes. He's going to try and bait him into the high and take that away and then close down on the low if he ends up going with that. He's just someone who's never going to be out of place.

Giants Nation Show (Giants Podcast)

CB Draft Preview | 5

970.092

I think he is a cornerback one for a long time in the NFL.
