Who is Lauren Spierer?
Lauren Spierer was born January 17, 1991 in Scarsdale, Westchester County, New York to her parents Charlene and Robert Spierer. Her family described her as being intelligent and caring. Before Lauren graduated high school in 2009, she had spent summer camps in the mountains of Hansdale, Pennsylvania at Camp Tawanda.
This is where she met a bunch of new friends, one of which being Jay Rosenbaum and her boyfriend Jesse Wolf. Both of those names will be important later on in the video, so just remember them. But either way, this camp is where her and her friends decided that they wanted to go to Indiana University.
She attended IU and was studying textiles and merchandising and she was very active in the Jewish community at her school. She even spent her spring break over in Israel just planting trees, which is pretty cool.
Right after Lauren's disappearance, Lauren's mother received a letter from a mother of a young girl who went to school with Lauren who said that her daughter had always been jealous of Lauren because she was more popular than her until college when they both attended Indiana University.
She said that when her daughter was struggling, Lauren always went out of her way to help her and this is when that girl realized just how selfless and caring Lauren is. She knew that Lauren had a big heart and would do pretty much anything for anyone. She had these big dreams and was just such an amazing and caring and kind young woman.
Now, before we get into the night of Lauren's disappearance, I want to point out that Lauren actually did have a heart condition called Long QT Syndrome. which is a disorder of the heart's electrical activity that causes sudden arrhythmias where the heart beats very fast and erratically, which can cause fainting, seizures, or even sudden death if the heart is unable to return to a normal rhythm.
It can be triggered by exercise, stress, or the use of drugs and alcohol. Clearly, this is a very scary heart condition and the night Lauren went missing, she was under the influence. I also want to mention that there is a debate between Lauren's family and friends
on whether she regularly used substances and obviously I can't speak for whether she did or not but either way she was a college student who probably did party a lot just like so many other college students just like myself just like a lot of people watching this video do or used to do so a lot of people want to blame her for you know using you know whatever she was using and for going out for her disappearance but
Again, I want to remind everyone that you probably went out just as much as Lauren or any other college student in some point in your life and it is incredibly unfair to just assume that because she was intoxicated that she's somehow responsible for what happened to her. So now we are going to get into the timeline of the night that Lauren went missing.
