S1 E1 - Why Is It So Hard to Pray? It's so hard to pray because humbling ourselves, getting over ourselves, and coming to the end of our subborn and sinful selves is hard -- Dr. Burk Parsons Episode Summary During this season, Prayer will be the main topic point with the focus of drawing people back to prayer. Prayer is a powerful tool and it is our direct connection to the father. E. M. Bounds said, in his book 'Power Through Prayer', "What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use -- men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods but through men. He does not come on machinery but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men of prayer." This idea of more men, mighty in praying bring forth a vision of unity in the body. When there is unity in the body of believers, we get peace. When there is peace within the body, the presence of God is visible and tangible. From the presence of God in our midst, we get answered prayers. James 5:17 states "... The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. " We forget to pray, because we are sinful and we do not want someone or something telling us we are wrong. We want to be in control and we often "replace" God with our sin stained minds and we mess everything up. So then, we blame God. Yet, we forgot to pray. In this episode, we talked about Our Sinful Selves, God's Sovereignty and Holiness, Prayer as a letter of love, not a grocery list. Why do you think it is hard to pray? Cohost Robert Marulli joins us to give his thoughts on why he thinks it is hard to pray. Robert shares parts of his personal testimony to bring to life the hardness of prayer. Robert points out that "God's grace for us is out of this world!"
