Asking Jesus - Week Four of Lent

Fri, 01 Apr 2022

Description

Synopsis: This week we discuss the story of the Good Samaritan. Both Rev. Dr. Gerrit and Brandon, discuss the connection of Jesus being the good Samaritan for us. During their discussion, they connect the dots between the Old Testament and the New Testament with Rahab the harlot, and how the “Good Samaritan” law is almost identical to the Biblical meaning to the parable Jesus taught. Tune into these short discussions based on a Lent reading guide called “Asking Jesus” by Rev. Dr. Gerrit Dawson. Meet the Guest: The Rev. Dr. Gerrit Dawson became the senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church in 2004. He is married to Rhonda, and they have four children. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Dawson was the pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Lenoir, North Carolina for 13 years before coming to Baton Rouge. He received his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2002 from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte. Dawson carries on an active writing ministry, focusing on Christian spiritual growth and the person and work of Christ. His most recent book is "Raising Adam: Why Jesus Descended into Hell." Dawson’s vision for the church centers on Jeremiah 29:7: “Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you.” How to find the material: You can find postings of the daily readings here! If you want a physical copy of the printed book, please contact the church office at 225.387.0617. You may also subscribe to daily Lent emails by texting ASKINGJESUS to 22828.
