It's time for everyone's favorite segment, the segment where you, the listener, does the majority of the work, the mailbag. It's the best. This is one of the best things about podcasting, Zena. You're going to love this so much, especially in January. We're going to get some amazing questions that are really going to get our brains going when we are brain dead on basketball.
Brian Woodward at BWero on Twitter asks, do you foresee the Spurs becoming a contender within the next couple of years? Or what do you see in their future if they're not? And look, they're eight and eight right now. Last season, they didn't win their eighth game until game 42. They have Victor Wimminyama, who we know is not only generational. This guy is maybe millennial.
They've got a lot of youth there. They've got a good franchise. I mean, I don't see how they're not right.
I agree. I absolutely think these team this team is capable of being a contender. And I think what they're doing right now, this offseason move to bring in Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes. That move was genius, especially when you consider a guard out of UConn, Stephon Castle under the tutelage of Chris Paul.
Or post players like Jeremy Sohan and Julian Champagny learning how to be fundamental players that can always help your team win under a Harrison Barnes. They are in a great position to be able to learn from these veterans that have made themselves useful on almost every team they've been on. And there's just so much talent.
I mean, Stephon Castle has really been impressing me in these last few games since he's been back into the rotation. Just... A guy with great court vision. He's constantly being compared and talked about around his team as a mini Chris Paul. His court vision, his understanding of the game, his understanding of angles on the court. It's exciting to see and also crazily athletic.
And yeah, he's already gotten a few bodies like this season.
Yeah. Yeah. He's got to back a few times. Yeah. He's a fun he's a fun guy to watch. And when you think about, I mean, the other day, the Spurs beat the Thunder without Wemby, without Sohan, without Vassell. And those are some of those young guys that outside of Wemby. Jeremy Sohan, Devin Vassell, Julian Champagny, Keldon Johnson, like these guys are just getting started.
