Welcome to Otherworld. I'm your host, Jack Wagner. This story comes from a man named Brian who grew up in Michigan. And in high school, Brian was in bands. He spent his time going to shows, getting into trouble. Honestly, very similar to my teenage years. In fact... I realized after this interview that I had actually seen Brian's band play a couple times at shows when I was much younger.
Back at this time, Brian and his friends used to go out and explore abandoned buildings for fun. And on one night in particular, they decide to go into a supposedly haunted house. He believes that when they entered that home, it changed the course of events for the lives of him and his friends. I thought this was such an eerie story.
It's also a good example of the paranormal and real-life issues being completely intertwined. I will let Brian tell you the rest. This episode is called Fike House, and you're listening to Otherworld. Hello? Is this Bobby? Yes, it is. At its core, the science you can't argue with. A story about all of a sudden up in the sky.
It's almost frustrating that it's happening. I'm going to die. His limbs were just like wrong.
Everybody moves back into the light, even if it takes them a minute.
My name's Brian. I live in Milwaukee. I work at an art school. I'm the director of safety. And I've lived here for like 23 years. I was always super, super scared of paranormal stuff. I saw The Exorcist at a really young age. And I remember for like a year just being completely, completely afraid of like becoming possessed.
This all took place probably like my senior year of high school and the year after. So that would have been like 1998, 1999. It really started with meeting my best friend, Colin, who he was a year older than me in high school. And we were like the only like alternative kids in my school. We grew up out in the country. It was like really, really rural. My graduating class was like 60 people.
And it was a lot of like kids. you know, Garth Brooks and like, you know, the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves soundtrack and stuff like that. That's like what people listen to. And we were just not into that stuff. We just like causing trouble and stuff. You know, we were like class clowns. So that's how we kind of started hanging out was just, yeah, messing with people, messing with teachers.
We had a librarian that we really liked to get a rise out of, Mr. Jesperson. Yeah, we just did like lots of really stupid stuff. So Colin was a sophomore. I was a freshman and his girlfriend had just graduated, I think. So she was like out of high school by then.
