Chapter 1: What are the big Nintendo Switch 2 launch reports?
In addition to the talk of the three-phase launch plan, Insider Gaming has learned that select media and creators will be attending Nintendo Switch 2 hands-on next week, where they'll get a hands-on with the console and some of its launch games for a few hours.
The Switch 2 is scheduled to be fully revealed on April 2nd, so we expect more in-depth hardware coverage and perhaps some of its launch games too. A launch price along with the official release date is also expected to be announced during the event. According to various gaming insiders, Nintendo is also planning a Nintendo Direct later this week, but its contents are currently unknown.
Jumping off of that, I do have a tweet from NateTheHate2, who tweeted out yesterday, who's a very prominent leaker, to stop the constant questions. Yes, I've heard there is a Nintendo presentation this week. I believe it is on slash around Thursday, and it'll be a Direct, but I'm not 100% certain on the format at present. Jake, there's a lot there to dive into. There's a lot.
I guess like starting from top level, right? The Switch 2 coming out in June. How does that sit with you?
That makes sense to me. I mean, I feel like a while ago there were reports that they had been in production, like mass producing Switch consoles a while ago. So I think they're like ready to kind of hit the ground running. And considering the announcements in April or the official stream is in a week, kind of makes sense that we'd see it in June. From my perspective, June's going to be nuts. Yeah.
if this is true yeah i mean you're talking about summer game fest happening you're talking about probably a lot of announcements happening for games i the press um press copies of the switch or not press copies the um what's the word i'm looking for dev kids for the switch coming out in june i think puts this in an interesting place of all right this three-phase plan
If we're talking June being the launch of it, I guess we're talking Metroid Prime 4 slash Mario Kart carrying those first couple months. And then, what, Elden Ring maybe coming out in that later period, that fall period? Are we talking about Assassin's Creed? When we talk about third parties for the Switch, what are the things that come to mind for you?
God, I mean, I think the first thing that kind of stood out to me, though, was, like, if they're waiting to give dev kits to studios till June, right? Then that means Nintendo's really going to have to hit hard with first party, I feel like. And, you know, Metroid Prime, like you said, seems kind of obvious at this point. 3D Mario, maybe? Dude.
Like, I feel like it has to be big if we're not going to get, like, a lot of or if any third party games right out of the gate, right? Yeah.

Chapter 2: Why is everybody scared of GTA 6?
Yeah.
Because if Nintendo was the king of anything, it is like, all right, let's run that shit back. Yeah. We had an idea in the first one. Let's really refine it in the second one and hopefully make it something that's worthwhile. ARMS seems like one that if we were to get a sequel to ARMS, I think we would have gotten it already.
I would be surprised, maybe a little bit delighted, but I would be surprised to see an ARMS 2. But I think something along those lines we could see. There is still... some of that functionality that we're waiting to hear about. There's like the whole mouse thing where it seems like you're going to be able to use your joy cons as a mouse. Is there going to be a game that is tailored around that?
Is there going to be something, you know, a few months ago there was like that's weird. Nintendo, uh, MMO project thing that they're trying to figure out. They're very secretive about could we see something come out of that that could be prepared for a Switch 2 launch? Is there another party game that... You mentioned 1-2-Switch, right?
Is there anything you can do with that that's Jackbox adjacent like the previous one that might work with the mouse thing? There's so many ideas that... I feel like Nintendo... Ideas that are Nintendo-adjacent, when you think of the weird outside-the-box thinking shit, that they could go about that would just be tough to predict for us. But I kind of expect to see for the Switch 2.
Yeah, like 1-2 Switch, 2-3 Switch, 3-4 Switch, I don't know. Something like that. I could see happening. Not that exact game, but I feel like there's going to be some gimmicky... Gimmicky's harsh, but you know what I mean.
Yeah, if they weren't cowards, it would just be WarioWare.

Chapter 3: What is the three-phase launch plan for Nintendo Switch 2 games?
It comes out this year, but I think it's supposed to be late this year. I imagine the reason they haven't announced a release date probably has something to do with the Switch 2, even though I think they said it's, or the rumors are that it's not necessarily supposed to be a Switch 2 game. But that kind of brings up another point or question I have for you.
Do you think Nintendo's showcase is going to show a lot of, like, Switch 1 games running on the Switch 2? Like, I could see us getting, like, a Tears of the Kingdom update, like, 60 frames a second or whatever. Like, I feel like there's got to be some of that, at least, since backwards compatibility has been announced and confirmed.
Yes. I think... For sure, we have to see what some of that stuff looks like. I am concerned that it's not going to be the best news, right? Like, I wonder what, like, Nintendo caveat is going to come with it of, all right, you can get, you know, games being boosted by buying... You have to be a member of Nintendo Online or whatever. Yes, you have to be a member of Nintendo Switch Online.
online or you have to buy another version of it. You have to spend money in some way. I don't think it's just going to work out the box in the dream way that we want it to. That said, yes, I think for sure we're going to see something like that.
This goes back to like a year and a half ago, I guess almost two years ago of when we first started hearing about Nintendo showing members of, I think other members of the press, or no, I think it was more so devs. They're showing off like Switch 2 kits that were running Breath of the Wild in like a better...
I forget if it was better fidelity or what it was, but they're essentially seeing a boosted version of breath of wild. I think when you're leading off of that, when showing it off to people behind closed doors, I think there's still, there's something that's gotta be there as far as if you can do this off the hardware, then why wouldn't you do it in a commercial way?
Like, why don't you figure out a way to sell this?
I mean, I think especially now, you brought up Pokemon Zaw, right? But Scarlet and Violet, that could really use some boost. I mean, Game Freak, that's a whole different beast. But that said, I would love to see a version of that that runs better, looks a little nicer. Because I think what? People who got it running on PC, it looks and runs so much better. And it's like, I want that. I want that.
But I think you're right. I don't think I'll just be able to pop in my copy of Scarlet. And just have it automatically. And just have it working like that, you know?

Chapter 4: How are publishers reacting to the upcoming GTA 6?
get all those but god it would suck to have to put in or to put in like my physical copy of tears of the kingdom or whatever on my switch to but not get the boosted version because i don't subscribe or whatever you know i mean i do so it wouldn't be an issue but like if they do that people are gonna be mad oh but i think they're banking on that too yeah uh king toast writes it and says astral chain 2 would be dope did you ever play i played a little bit of it it's one of those games i've been meaning to get back to

Chats pointing out like Bandera and a few others are saying the dev kit thing has to be publicly purchasable dev kits. They're assuming places like Capcom and others like other big third parties probably already have those. It's more so for smaller indie teams that might be kind of waiting on this.
And that makes sense. And to that, I would even say that. Do I care as Nintendo? Right? Like, people are buying my console to play Mario and Zelda. And more people will come through for, yeah, those third-party games or the indie games or whatever it's going to be. But I think for that first foot forward, as Nintendo, I'm locked in on, hey, let's have a successful first-party launch.
Like, let's figure out the games that people really want to play on this.
yeah and i think you know it's been said so many times but that is nintendo strength like like you're saying like you know it'd be dope if elden ring came to switch and i could play that anywhere i don't have a steam deck so something like that would be great but at the same time i don't necessarily need to take elden ring with me everywhere i want to i want a nintendo console so i can play yeah but it would be cool if you could take elden ring it would be cool for the splatoon 4 yeah

Because when you think about that, I imagine these are going to be updates that are pushed to the game. I don't imagine that on the hardware level, they're going to automatically have these games scale up or have these games boosted.

The bulk of the games that people really care about on the system are Nintendo games.
