Excuse My Grandma's Palm Beach Season Finale and Recession Dating
Thu, 24 Apr 2025
In this episode of Excuse My Grandma, Kim and Grandma Gail say goodbye to Palm Beach for the season. They’ll miss the sunshine, easy access to Gail’s closet, and the beach. However, they’re excited to head back to NYC for spring, where they’ll celebrate back-to-back birthdays, see their friends, and eat at their favorite restaurants. In The Drama Club, Kim and Grandma discuss how musical festivals have evolved since Woodstock. Where that was a social rebellion, Coachella is more of a branded event where concert-goers pay for their tickets in payment plans. Not Grandma-Approved. The hosts then break down the TIME article, “The Silver Lining of Dating in a Recession” in The Grandma Report. Could this be a good thing? Kim thinks so! With more budget-conscious daters, people will go on or create more creative dates, which will be more meaningful. Grandma’s tip: Go for pizza and put some money away for a rainy day. Read it here!Catch up on Kim’s current shows in The Rewind! She just finished "Love Is Blind” and is watching “Dying For Sex” and “Your Friends and Neighbors.”Grandma Gail’s Hotline rings next. How should a caller feel about a man she’s been on 11 dates with and isn't showing as much interest as she’d like? Grandma has thoughts. They also give their opinions on therapy. Leave a voicemail at Grandma Gail’s Voicemail, DM us on Instagram, or email [email protected] for advice! In a game of Should We Bring It Back: Things To Do in Florida Edition, Kim and Gail vote on what deserves a comeback. They also answer a round of Ask Grandma Anything about ghosting (which Gail says always happened in the past but now there’s a name for it), favorite vacation destinations, dealing with the loss of a mother, and where to meet people in your late 30s. To end the episode, Kim and Grandma reflect on what they learned this season.Follow us onInstagram @excusemygrandma TikTok @excusemygrandma Watch on YouTubeSpotifyMusic By: Guy Kelly(00:00) Intro(18:48) The Drama Club(25:08) The Grandma Report(30:00) The Rewind(34:20) Grandma Gail’s Voicemail(42:06) should we bring it back?(44:26) AGA
Chapter 1: What will Kim and Grandma Gail miss about Palm Beach season?
Welcome back to another episode of Excuse My Grandma. It's Kim and my co-host. And my gal. Grandma, it is our final week of the Palm Beach season. It's our Palm Beach finale episode. Boo hoo. What will you miss about being together?
Well, we'll still be together, but in Florida, I think I'll miss the sunshine. I'm hoping that when we get back together in New York City, that the sun will be out and it'll be a little bit warmer than it's been. They had a very bad winter, but I think spring is there. I can't wait to see the tulips and the daffodils in the park. So I'm ready to go back.
I've had a wonderful, wonderful season here this year.
I feel it changes your mood a lot when you're in sun versus in cold, for sure. But I also feel like the humidity is not great for hair. So I've been in a slick back every single day of being in Florida. But older people don't do slick back buns.
Well, I think nobody even, they don't care anymore when you get to a certain age.
But your hair's not frizzy.
You just put a lot of hairspray. No, well, I have such straight hair. I have just such straight hair. Florida doesn't affect me and neither does New York. Worst hair for me is when I go to the beach. If I go to the beach, then there's no hair left.
yeah but you know it's been that's the least of my worries down here i don't sit in the sun that much so i don't you know i actually just got a report from my doctor take more vitamin d which i said oh are you kidding me and he said no you have to because i guess i used to be in the sun a lot yeah i played a lot of golf and um and i'm not doing that now
So you do need a certain amount of sunlight. For sure. But not good for the skin.

Chapter 2: How do Kim and Grandma Gail reflect on their fashion and lifestyle choices in Florida?
Don't buy any dishes because I'm loaded with dishes to give you.
The thing is, like, I can't really have a dinner party in my apartment because I have one chair.
Well, you have two chairs, but one you use for your makeup.
Oh, yeah. And you've rearranged your apartment for work and makeup. Well, I have a desk chair and then I have like my, what's it called? My dressing table.
You put a dressing table in your bedroom.
No, but what is that called? A vanity. Vanity. And with a little stool. so like that's not conducive to a dinner party but i could use mom and dad's house in the summer in the country yeah and you've done that you've had a lot of parties i had like one party right and it was just but i want to do it again and i've say i've made all these pinterest boards you know pinterest it's like i
I'll show you, but like I save just like photos of inspiration. It's different than Instagram because you can create like your own boards, like mood boards almost. And I've saved all these hosting things. We'll see if I actually do any of it.
Well, the problem with you is you have the ideas, but then you want someone to do it for you. That is the problem of my life. Well, that can't happen. No, it kind of can. Well, it can if you're Martha Stewart. and have 400 staff to help you out.
True.

Chapter 3: What are Kim and Grandma Gail’s thoughts on living full-time in Florida?
Ask for setups.
Oh, you mean she's dating no one in particular in other words? I think so. Okay. Well, you know what? She's definitely working. So during the week, if she doesn't have the time or she's exhausted, the weekends come about and you should make a plan. Either make a plan with friends or make a plan to go someplace where you might meet people.
uh go to your church go to your local church for services you can go to a synagogue on friday night uh there are all kinds of uh go to take dance lessons do something that you enjoy yeah where you might meet other people your age okay just to close out um what's what did we learn this winter season stay out of the cold
you're happy with your decision i'm very happy with my decision i i needed a little more a fix going back to the city which i didn't do at all this year but um i i think i was very happy
I was trying to think of what was different this year than the past. And I guess like it was the first year I wasn't single during my Palm beach time. So I guess like my priorities were less like, okay, how can I fit dates in and more like we have, we can get work done. I can do family stuff, which felt nice. Plus though, juggling having to go back and forth more.
between three locations and like more travel.
Yeah, you had a lot of frequent flyer things.
Yeah, well, you would think like Zach, my boyfriend, he uses one airline so that he gets upgraded on that airline all the time. But I never use the same airline.
Oh, we always do. That's how we do it all the time. We don't travel that much now, but we still always usually go on Delta because Delta then, you know, you build up points. I mean, that's how to travel well. Okay, well, I got to do that because I don't know. We do JetBlue a lot.
