Figure skating is quite a small community. It's got a very active social media. And they were in absolute panic this morning because yesterday there were all these young skaters posting pictures from their camp in Wichita. And they made that link very quickly between skaters, Wichita and flights. And they've been trying to figure out all day who's been on there.
And it does look like it is those kind of younger skaters, perhaps, and their coaches and their parents that have been affected.
Yes. Now, there are actually quite a lot of Russian former skaters in the States. The U.S. is one of the big countries in figure skating. Its center is U.S., Canada, Russia, Japan. And actually what happened is quite a lot of Russian skaters, particularly from the sort of late 80s, early 90s, moved to America when they retired to coach or to take part in ice skating tours.
And that's what we think the Russians who are on this plane were doing. They're former skaters. In fact, former world champions Evgeny Shishkova and Vadim Naumov are the ones we know of who were coaches at a club in Boston.
