The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1016.465

Well, I guess that speaks once again to the psyche of everybody in that world, knowing that this guy is the one we all depend on. This is the one we all have to serve. So let's figure out what we have to do, what we have to endure, whether that's pain, whether that's embarrassment, whatever we have to do to survive in his world and to keep this guy happy.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1038.502

Bill, look, the prosecution, if nothing else, is building an idea of a world that we had no idea about and has been consistent.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1046.778

And makes no sense in the real world, you know, to not blame the person who's actually committing these atrocities, or who you say is, but verse or rather than the people who are making him upset, which that's kind of an insane thing to think about for me. And she also said that Cassie wanted her out of Diddy's inner circle. So you know, she definitely had a tumultuous relationship with Cassie.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1071.346

And certainly that was explained on the stand, at least by Capricorn. And it's just wild to hear all of what she said happened specifically on the kid Cuddy situation. The cross-examination was very interesting because Diddy's lawyers went after Capricorn because yes, she's saying she was kidnapped. She's saying she went against her will.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1091.96

She's saying he brandished a gun and she felt like her life was under threat. But they pointed out that she previously said she went with Diddy to Kid Cudi's house in order to keep him from doing something stupid. She denied that, says she doesn't remember saying that. And that's the question. Did she go willingly to protect him, to do her job or what she thought was her job?

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1116.435

Or was she taken against her will?

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1119.011

Look, legal experts out there say this is a very important part of the prosecution's case. They need to prove that a crime had taken place here. The kidnapping is a very, very important thing. It's not just about sentiment anymore. It's not just about, oh my, this guy's crazy. He had a gun. He did some silly stuff. He was mad. He was... Even hitting a woman. No, no, no.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1139.942

The kidnapping, they say, is very important in building a case about a criminal enterprise. So there was another potential incident in which she was kidnapped, though, if they could possibly prove, because Capricorn Clark explained that there was another incident a different year in which she was in charge of jewelry for Diddy. That bag went missing.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1160.314

And she was taking robes to an abandoned floor of a building, a dilapidated building, and was subjected to a lie detector test all day, several days, by some big dude who told her she needed to act right or you're going to find yourself in the East River. He gave her that threat when she was so nervous they couldn't get a good reading, they said, on the lie detector.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1182.525

And he told her, you need to calm down because if I can't get a good reading, they're going to throw you in the river. So that's a threat, one, and potential kidnapping as well. So that is, now the details are salacious in that, but for legal reasons, this is very important for them building it.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1198.001

Yeah, you just put yourself or imagine it does sound like a scene out of a movie. It doesn't sound like real life. This was all happening here around the Manhattan area. And apparently she described this guy, you said a big dude. She said he was five times the size of her is what she said on the stand. And he was intimidating.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1216.35

And yes, she said she felt like her life was under threat because she couldn't relax enough or calm down enough. for the lie detector to have a good reading when that bag of diamonds went missing. She also describes another incident back in 2006 where she apparently walked up to Diddy's personal chef and made an offhanded comment because they didn't have turkey bacon.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1240.609

And she said, I hate living here or something under her breath. The chef hears it and goes and tells Diddy in the next room what she just said. And then what Diddy did next, she claims he came running at her, running at her from the other room and pushed her violently because and then said, if you don't want to live here, get the F out of here now. And so she says she did leave.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1263.065

So you hear all of this and these stories, what she witnessed, what she experienced, she says, and she's still begging God. Years and years later to come back to work for him, pleading for her job, begging him for forgiveness.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1278.676

That was over the Cuddy stuff, right?

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1280.718

Yeah.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1281.038

Yeah. That was emails, right? She said she sent in 2014 and 15. This is one part where they said she did cry pretty hard on the stand, having to read these emails in which she was begging for forgiveness for having not told him that Cassie was dating Cuddy. That was 10 years ago and she's on the stand.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1298.769

Still crying about it. And upset about it. And yes, but this is after she's been pushed, after she's been threatened, after she's been afraid for her life. She's begging for forgiveness. That's wild to me to hear her talk about this. And then there was an incident in Central Park. Yes.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1315.805

Now that one is, again, she was taken to Central Park. It was late at night. Just Diddy and a security guard. This one jumped out at me because I think about Central Park. We spend so much time in Central Park. We think about how many times we've run or enjoyed. There are nothing but happy thoughts. quite frankly, anytime I think about Central Park.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1333.244

It's this setting of beautiful movies and you're strolling hand in hand or you're taking a beautiful run or you're taking in, you know, the beautiful scenery and the people. Yeah, you're not thinking about violent crimes. I mean, I know they can happen, but certainly it's not what you think of.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1347.09

So this is why this one got me and got maybe a lot of New Yorkers to think you might have been, you know, just hanging out in the park on a pleasant evening. And Diddy was threatening to kill a woman under the cover of darkness somewhere there with his security guard. She said, yeah, took her to the park.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1361.635

And this was because she had a previous relationship or a working relationship with Suge Knight, who was a business rival, a rap rival, rap industry rival with Diddy. She didn't disclose that previously. He found out about it, got upset and took her and threatened to kill her in the park.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1380.283

And when he fired her, he told her he'd make her kill herself.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1384.085

He's going to make things that bad for her. And she's she believes she got blacklisted. She tried unsuccessfully for a while to find work in the industry. But all this stuff we're saying about her. To this day, if he gets, if he's found not innocent, if he called her and asked her to come back and work, I absolutely think she'd say yes. I mean, if he's found not guilty, I mean, if he walks.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1406.577

If he walks and gets back, what I'm saying, I'm making an extreme point. My point being, after all we're hearing, I don't think there's a question that this woman still feels some sense of loyalty to him and would still return to his circle if she were allowed to do so.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1419.429

Would he allow that? I mean, she's being compelled to testify. Obviously, she's not doing this because she chose to. Most of the folks on the stand are there because they're compelled to, speaking to their fear of retribution or any sort of retaliation.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1434.172

I can't even imagine what these folks are thinking about after hearing their testimony and staring at him right there in the courtroom as they're saying all of these mind-blowing things, what it would be like for them if he is not convicted.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1449.795

I haven't even gone there, but I'm just now thinking about what that must feel like, the fear and the trepidation that might speak to some of the sobbing and the crying. She's probably so conflicted and so torn about what to do, what to say, and what not to do.

Aubrey O'Day is sitting next to us here. You are, as we sit here, right up the street from where the trial is taking place. Some people saw that you were going to be in New York and they immediately started jumping to conclusions. So can you clear that up? First of all, are you here to testify in the Diddy Trap?

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

Aubrey will offer her opinions and expertise based on her firsthand knowledge from her days on making the band as she emerged as the breakout star. The truth of the situation would be opposite of the glitz and glamour.

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1764.74

One thing she did do, despite all the things perhaps negative that she said about Cassie Ventura, she absolutely corroborated Cassie's testimony about being beaten by Diddy Combs. And so many who have gone up on the stand have done the same. They have corroborated Cassie's testimony about the violence she endured from Diddy.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1787.292

This one was tough to hear.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1788.252

Yeah, she says she saw personally Did he kick Cassie repeatedly while she was in fetal position, silently crying after he found out about Kid Cudi? She witnessed it firsthand.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1802.42

That's tough to hear. That one was tough to hear. Look, so much of this testimony has been just brutal and devastating. And to imagine somebody endured that. repeatedly for years. But this was one, I guess that I, for some reason, got very much a visual of this to imagine. I mean, Cassie's not a big girl, but she's just to be in that position, essentially giving up.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1827.369

Essentially saying, please stop. I'm not fighting you. I have nothing. It's not just smacking somebody with a hand. To kick somebody is tough to hear. And these are all allegations. But for some reason, that one is one of all we've heard that I've visualized and had such a reaction to that description of her. And then the crying silently, even that detail.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1847.588

Yes. I mean, and it was so bad that Cassie said, I'm sorry, excuse me, that Capricorn Clark said she called Cassie's mom and said, he, as in Diddy, is beating the shit out of your daughter. And she said, this is also so devastating that Cassie's mom told her, I can't call the police, but you can. Please help her.

Hello, everyone. It's Wednesday, May 28th. Welcome to Amy and TJ. I'm Amy Robach and TJ Holmes. Why are you puzzled when I said, welcome to Amy and TJ?

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1873.588

That, I don't care who you are, you're a mom, you're a parent, the idea that you're getting a phone call saying your daughter's being beaten severely and you say, I can't call police.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

That's a tough one.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

Can you please help her?

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1888.973

That's a tough one.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1889.873

That is just devastating to me. And to think about the picture they're painting of Diddy, you know, when you talk about kicking someone when they're not fighting back, when they're clearly in a position of protection, that you just keep going after them, that just, I can't even get my head around that. That reminds me of people who hurt animals.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1911.939

When you start hurting the helpless, that's when it goes to a whole other level of cruelty.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1917.502

That's what they say, right? You shouldn't kick a man when he's down. I just, just that visual and that description that she gave. And this, I don't know what, look, we talked about this plenty here. There's so many things in here for us to examine from the music industry, from the young people who are in it, to fame, to wealth, to power, to sex, to race. There's so much to examine in here.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1947.275

But this is one, and I hope something we continue to learn about domestic violence and victims of domestic violence being a friend and a family member of folks who might be going through this stuff because these are two women who I believe loved this girl that really cared for Cassie. One is looking at her being kicked repeatedly and won't call police.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1971.123

She calls the girl's mother, who no one I would argue on the planet loves Cassie more than her mom. And her mom didn't do anything. What in God's name are we doing? And I do not envy, I'm not criticizing the women for the position that they were in or they were put in. But what are we doing when that is happening?

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

1993.499

yeah i think this could be hopefully a wake-up call for a deeper understanding of what actually goes on those dynamics the power of them and what compels people to freeze or fight you know it's it's or you know it's like they say when you're in certain situations that are stressful you have the flight or fight but there's a freeze as well and i see you see that happening a lot

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

Because I forgot what we're doing. We do so many podcasts. It feels this one's about relationship. That one's about crying. This one's about news. That one's about something else. So I forgot where we were.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2020.403

When Capricorn was being cross-examined, there was one, and I think it was the final question, that Diddy's attorneys asked Capricorn, and this was fairly devastating. We talked about how much she bolstered Cassie's testimony and corroborated her testimony. This last question did the opposite. It certainly...

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2041.5

If anything, it could have planted a seed of doubt in terms of Cassie's willingness or unwillingness to be a part of everything.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2048.768

Yeah, and I think, what, she was up there for three days, Cassie and her testimony, and they cross-examined her and their questions about where was she on that fence, right? How much of it was she... uh, there as a victim, how much of it was she an accomplice? Um, how much was she there willingly doing this stuff? And I think that they were trying to make a point here.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2071.268

And I think they made a point to do this question last, but Cassie was asked, uh, excuse me, Capricorn was asked about a conversation she'd had with Cassie. And she had told, according to Capricorn, was trying to plead with Cassie, get out of this relationship with Diddy. Stop dating him, is the advice she was trying to give. And this, Robes, is what she said Cassie's response to that was.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2103.902

And that's the end of the... After all day, she's testified. That is the last thing that the jury heard. And I, when I saw it, I was rattled by it. And you start to consider or rethink or give a second thought to... Other things you thought maybe you already put to bed about this case. Like, oh, I thought one thing, but wait a minute.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

211.209

Yes. Well, this is the Sean Diddy Combs recap that we've been doing every day after testimony. So we can give you a one stop shop where you don't have to go and try to find who said what, when. It's very confusing when you go through all the different news outlets to see what happened at trial. So we have done all.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2125.703

Wow. Did she stay because... And she endured whatever she did willingly because she liked the fame. She liked the power. She liked the money. She liked the access. She liked that life. And so she put up with obvious abuse that we've heard... testified by so many people. I don't think that is in question whatsoever, but was she complicit because she liked the end result?

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2151.246

Even if the means by which she had to get those results were horrific and heinous, she chose to be in that world and to be in that position because she liked the way she was living.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2163.235

That is what the jury now is considering. And they now only need one juror to buy into that enough. And the next thing you know, this is not the guilty verdict that the prosecution is after. And again, because this has been said in jest, well, she's just making a little joke. But it didn't seem to come off that way. And it certainly is not why they asked the question at the end of her testimony.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2187.412

That testimony is going to continue. She's done, but she was the only one on the stand yesterday. Actually went a little past their usual three o'clock break time in the afternoon. But today, four more witnesses are expected. And I guess, what is it, two of them might have some more personal stories about it.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2206.064

Right. So one, we'll hear from a Los Angeles Police Department officer and a Los Angeles Fire Department arson investigator. But the ones that I think we were just referencing that will be perhaps the most interesting will be Diddy's stylist, Deontay Nash. We're going to hear from... The stylist. And then this might be a big one.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

2225.636

The government did say it wanted to call another alleged victim of Diddy's. This one will be anonymous. They're giving her the moniker Mia as she takes the stand. Mia is a pseudonym. All we know is that she's one of Combs' former employees and that she wants and wishes to remain anonymous. We were told some of these women would be coming forward. but they would not be revealing their identities.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

So it will be very interesting to hear what Mia has to say on the stand today.

This was Capricorn Clark. She makes an impression if you have no idea who she is just by her name. Her name is Capricorn Clark. She's a former assistant to Diddy and global brand director for him. She also worked as Cassie's creative director and she worked several people roles we've heard from so far.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

I think she might be the one that's worked the longest for him of the people at least that we've heard from 2004 to 2012.

So they have a long standing relationship. And look, this is a lady, a lot of people have gotten up and testified about what they saw and here and there and some of his assistants. She was in that inner circle and she handled, even called herself his protector. Right.

Yeah. I mean, she was with Diddy, like we mentioned, on and off for 20 years. And not only did she see things or hear things, she says she experienced things directly, which is... why a lot of people have questioned why she would stay so long, why she would stand by him for so long, why she wanted to return to work again and again.

She said it, it's complicated. My relationship with him is complicated. She said, even to this day, she misses the job and she would still go back again. As early as last year, she was still in some conversations about a potential role she might have with Diddy.

I think the verb was she was sobbing uncontrollably, which gives you an image of what was happening up on the stand. But yeah, she said throughout it all, she wanted Diddy's approval. And that's what we've heard time and time again. He created something with some of these women and some of these assistants and some of these folks who worked with him who begged and craved for his approval.

Yeah. That's, and that is truly complicated. I don't, I can't think of a better word to describe it than that. And what her testimony says, What we heard from her yesterday was key and central to the prosecution's case, specifically to a kidnapping charge, because she claims she was kidnapped by Sean Diddy Combs in the early morning hours to go over to Kid Cudi's house.

That was, of course, the rapper who he had a beef with because he was seeing his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. And when he found out, he, according to... Capricorn got her in the early morning hours and forced her. He had a gun in his hand. He showed up disheveled. She said he had a rip in the crotch of his pants and said, we're going to kill Cuddy.

The Diddy Trial: Third Week of Testimony Resumes

This was important. This was a critical part of the prosecution's case because if they prove or convince the jury at least that Diddy was involved and his associates were involved in other crimes as a part of his enterprise, they're trying to prove a racketeering charge. They're trying to essentially... Show what they showed when they were convicting mobsters back in the 1970s and 1980s.

This Rico charge, if you will. They're trying to prove he has a criminal enterprise. So this is why it's important. Another crime. Kidnapping is a pretty serious crime. And Capricorn Clark claims she was taken against her will.

This story is central, I guess, for the first couple to the first couple of weeks of this trial rose because Kid Cudi, a lot of people didn't even know his name potentially and weren't familiar with his music. But he has been central to this case because he is the guy who was dating Cassie. Did he found out about it? And it set off this whole chain of events.

Yeah. So yesterday we heard Capricorn Clark testify that Diddy and his security guard went into Cuddy's house. And again, she's there against her will, she claims. And that's when she says she called Cassie on a burner phone to tell her that Diddy was in front of Cuddy's house.

ensued between the two she said it felt like it was forever but it might have been a minute before cuddy uh essentially got away but that scene that night we've heard it we heard cassie talk about we heard cuddy talk about it but to see it or hear it at least from this witness's perspective a witness who claimed to be along for the ride uh against her will that is kidnapping he has a loaded gun telling her she doesn't have a choice but to come with him so that is why she ends up being there

She said she was the one that took her to Best Buy to get a burner phone when things got rough with her and Diddy.

She was a witness to the night that Diddy allegedly went to Cuddy's house, broke in, was upset about finding out that Cuddy was dating Cassie. Now,

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

Capricorn Clark...It's Complicated

1453.183

But before they left, let's do that chronologically. Yes, we're going to get to that point. But even before they left the house, this is very key because they're arguing the defense is that she went willingly because she considered herself his protector and didn't want him to do something stupid. She says she was absolutely not a willing participant and was forced to go.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

Capricorn Clark...It's Complicated

Can you expound as much as you can on what you mean by there's more for her to say that she didn't say and why she didn't say it?

we keep using that. We kept saying Molotov cocktail, Molotov cocktail. And if you're familiar, it's essentially a bottle with whatever accelerant, gasoline, alcohol, whatever. And then you stick a rag in the top, you light it, then you toss the thing. And when you toss it, of course, something is on fire, but then the, Fluid that's in there spreads with the flame and it causes more destruction.

This officer said this was a crappy Molotov cocktail. Somebody didn't understand the concept because sure enough, they cut a hole in the top of his car, but it was kind of just placed in there. It didn't break.

Again, we get the implications here and we are making little light of the OE bottle and a designer handkerchief, but this was absolutely a, somebody was there. And you know what? The most, more of the more violent thing. I didn't know they cut a hole in the Porsche. They cut a hole in the top. to get this in there. But again, they placed it so it was just sitting in there gently.

A lot of people at this point have seen a lot of the videos. Yeah, you throw a Molotov cocktail, do you not, usually? Oh yeah, so it can break. Yeah, you want it to break. Yes. It needs to break. But the video we have seen and the pictures of his car Don't go with a lot of the words being used in some of the coverage.

He called it a makeshift bomb. It was something the officer said. It just it was not well done and it wasn't well executed. But thank goodness that it wasn't. And everybody ended up OK there.

Those two were up first on the day, but then the one we've been hearing about, talking about, they actually expected to get to four witnesses yesterday, and they actually only got to three because Deontay Nash, they had him up on the stand for quite a while. And this is a celebrity stylist who... By all accounts, he was a character, if you will. He had a personality on the stand.

Yeah. Who was the, I can't remember her name right now. It was Cassie's former best friend who she said Diddy assaulted her and she lost her best friend over it because her best friend essentially didn't shut her out, but didn't stand up for her during that. That was another young lady who said, I don't want to be here. I want these people out of my life and out of this world.

That's where we talk about this again. This is at least two people now who witness what they describe at least as something that will get you years in prison. And nobody called or stepped in or made a change and continued working with this man. It's hard to get your head around if you're on the outside like us, Rose, but people are telling these stories just how trapped they felt.

And it's painting a picture of a world that, quite frankly, I would argue as a kid in the 90s, We all wanted to be a part of that world. It all looks so glamorous from the outside. We all rooted for Diddy. We were all just, I mean, I remember the first time I met Diddy, I was so, I was over the moon. And I'm talking, I was a grown man. I'm sorry, I was 40 years old or something maybe.

What was the one part of the story as well? He said this was, he said a switch kind of flipped with Diddy. And we've heard several witnesses testify who said they saw him being violent or at least angry. They keep using the word rage. There's a rage in him. And Nash here was describing this moment before he said, look what y'all made me do.

He said he turned into a different person and completely calmed when he saw the blood. He said he was a totally different guy. And it's like a switch just flipped at that moment when he saw blood everywhere. But I think Cassie Ventura, she had been to her fine and testified about it as well, saying there was a moment where it just blackened his eyes. Like she didn't recognize who he was.

Can I back up on the story? Because I have notes here and I actually put them out of order. So this goes that the conclusion to this story you were about to give is the part that sinks your heart once again. But this was a time where he was once again looking for Cassie. Cassie ends up in this incident at his house. He takes her.

from his house because he got a heads up that Diddy was on the way looking for Cassie. He takes Cassie in a car from his house to Sunset Boulevard, just drops her off. Like, go. Tell her to go to a hotel. That's how scared they both were. Like you're planning an escape from somebody.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

You know what, this is a human moment I wanted to take. We talked about it this morning, Robes, but so many of us have been referring to her Cassie Ventura, Cassie Ventura, Cassie Ventura. Sometimes people use the last name, just say Ventura. I have at times been saying Cassie because that's what she went by when she was an artist. And it just kind of flows out. But Deontay Nash reminded us all.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

with just a simple correction to a defense attorney, that she is more than an artist, she is more than a victim, and those aren't even the things we should lead with. She is a human being, she is a woman, and she is a mother, and she is a wife. And so I thought it was cool. I don't think the defense attorney was making much of a point.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

2323.403

He was just saying something and referred to her as Cassie Ventura. And he corrected her and said, Mrs. Fine? I thought that was just, somebody could take it as, oh, what's the big deal? Why did he even have to do that? Do you have to be a smart ass or that?

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

2340.832

I just, those little moments that we forget that people are just like the folks we are sitting across the table from right now or your family, they seem larger than life. They're not just icons or musicians. Anytime you label somebody like that, it makes it so much easier to call them by a name or insult them. But if you remember, she is Mrs. Fine, wife and mother, it helps.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

267.603

Yeah, the majority of the day, the stand was occupied by Deontay Nash. We're going to get into everything he had to say, which was absolutely a lot. He saw a lot and was able to detail a lot of the alleged violence that she endured at the hands of Diddy. But Chris Ignacio was the LAPD officer, and he was important because he was able to cooperate a lot of what

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

289.216

We had already heard he was the one who showed up or one of the officers who showed up after Diddy allegedly broke into Kid Cuddy's house ropes. He said he got there. He went inside. He didn't see Diddy. He didn't see a security guard, but he saw he testified to the aftermath that we have already heard about how Cuddy's place was trashed.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

307.21

Certainly, allegedly, and by everything they're piecing together, it was Diddy and his security guard had gone into the house.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

346.093

And again, this was the exact time, the whole incident we're talking about here is the night that Diddy allegedly got mad, found out Cudi and Cassie were dating, went to Cudi's house that night. Now, Someone who was with him, Capricorn Clark, is another former assistant who testified as well with some pretty powerful stuff. She was telling that, yes, they were in a black escalade.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

366.682

They went to the house. She talked about what happened. She said, yes, Cuddy pulled up. He took off and we chased him in the black escalade for a little while, then came back to the house. So the escalade has played a lot into this story to hear now an officer. say he laid eyes on that Escalade in question. He saw it that night.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

385.092

And apparently whoever was in that Escalade saw officers coming that night and took off. Is the story now that's being put together. And you can't, there's a lot of black Escalades out there, especially in LA.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

406.784

puts or at least connects all the dots for jurors that if not diddy someone who represented diddy was there while all of this was being reported but the thought of the matter of yes capricorn clock told the story but to think that an officer i mean chances are given the timing and given the timing there's a decent chance that diddy was still in that vehicle yes to think that there was a cop that passed to think he was right there and all this stuff this is 10 years ago i think this incident was

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

433.183

to think that an officer was right there. Like there were so many missed opportunities, I guess. I'm not faulting the officer. I'm just saying along the way, and as we've been following this trial, somebody saw a beating take place, didn't do anything. Somebody saw this, didn't do anything. Somebody was scared to do this. And just to think that close, just passing ditty at the scene.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

507.845

And the officer said nobody ever said anything to him about Diddy. Nobody said anything about theft. It was only to investigate trespassing. And that was the end of it. And they went about their day. Now, the other person who was up on the stand was a fire investigator, an arson investigator who checked out the fire in Kid Cudi's car, the Porsche that had the Molotov cocktail in it.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

527.141

Now, this was when things got a little interesting because, yes, the defense. at one point during this man's testimony, moved for a mistrial. They wanted to end this thing yesterday because of this guy's testimony. We are talking about Lance Jimenez. He's a LA fire investigator in robes. He got up and he mentioned something

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

546.371

And I think he was just answering the question having to do with there were fingerprints that were found at Kid Cudi's car. They're piecing together, of course, through testimony that they believe that Diddy had something to do with it. That's never been proven. Fine. But the fire investigator said we found fingerprints, but those were later destroyed.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

That is what prompted defense attorneys to speak up.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

619.313

And look, they had no, this is another crime, that they had no suspect. They had no witness to come forward and say who they thought the suspect was. was because the two people mainly involved in this, Cassie Ventura, Kit Cuddy, and Capricorn Clark, none of them made a police report accusing him of anything of the sort. His name never came up.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: The Detectives and The Stylist

639.67

And in fact, Cassie and Capricorn, this fire investigator said he called repeatedly trying to get in touch with them in robes. This again, nobody wants, they would not call him back. They would not take his call. And this goes to fear that they say so many people felt about Diddy.

The Diddy Trial: Kid Cudi Testifies

1006.434

And so when Kid Cudi described that scene, we can all see it in our heads, and it all makes sense that part of the reason why the prosecution is trying to set up this case of coercion, and a lot of that was with drug use, they say, but also just with the threatening nature of who he was and what he said he would do.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Kid Cudi Testifies

1050.107

Yeah. You know, something else that just reminded me that Kid Cudi said that was interesting and perhaps wasn't what the prosecution was hoping he would say, and I don't know how the jury will take this, but he said that both he and Diddy got played... by Cassie Ventura.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

The Diddy Trial: Kid Cudi Testifies

1064.81

So that probably wasn't, I don't know how big of a strike that was against the prosecution and in terms of keeping Cassie Ventura's credibility where they want it, but he certainly felt like he'd been played by her. I mean, they only were together for about a month, but he also said he got out of it because he just could not deal with all the drama.

Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial

It's all you need. Yeah, it plants a seed in someone's head. And you think about that meeting when he came to confront Diddy or at least to try and calm things down. Yeah. Let me know when that's over because I have no desire to be freaking off with anybody. My goodness. Yeah. And then the air freshener thing, which I mentioned off the top. So apparently it was so crazy that it seeped out into the hallway. I mean, what did it smell like?

Well, I was just wondering, is there any culpability, speaking of culpability, from these establishments? That are allowing a person to come into their establishment and other guests are there. So they're responsible for other guests' experiences, other guests' safety, and maybe even the guests he's bringing into the room. Do they have any responsibility if something happens at their hotel?

No, because he genuinely had to incriminate himself with drug activity, picking up drugs, bringing the drugs to him in order to testify accurately. And so, yes, he had to get an immunity deal from the judge before he even felt comfortable Speaking about what he saw, what he witnessed and what he participated in for some of those months.

Someone else who took the stand that I thought was really telling and corroborating for Cassie's story was the makeup artist that was a makeup artist for both Sean Diddy Combs and for Cassie Ventura, Maya Morales. But she actually details a very specific event where she was sleeping or napping. And she heard the yelling and it was so significant. Cassie comes running in.

No, the only time I've even heard so far in testimony that there was ever police involved or called was when he was standing outside her home with a hammer. After the video that we all saw, correct? And her friend only called other people in the Diddy Circle. They don't know how it happened, but hours later, a police officer showed up and they said, nothing's wrong, no problem, nada. Nada.

You know, that is one thing that perhaps something good that could come out of all of this is just I think people don't feel like they have a voice or that they will be believed. And perhaps that could have been true, too. I don't know. But when you're going up someone who's powerful and rich and regarded and esteemed.

Do you trust, there's that whole issue as well, where if you go to police, how do you know that Diddy isn't going to pay them off or have them in your back pocket? Like there's just so many, there's so much fear is so, it's either motivating or it's crippling. And it looks like it crippled so many people for so many years. And there are so many victims because of it.

Which is what we've been doing to get everyone caught up. But yes, this was quite a week. The first week was explosive. The second week, even more so, because a lot of this testimony backed up and added context to what we heard from Cassie Ventura about what she claimed she suffered for nearly 11 years at the hands of Diddy.

You know, I know we had some explosive witnesses, but I actually was taken aback by the testimony from the general manager of an L.A. hotel where Diddy stayed frequently, where Diddy apparently had these freak-offs frequently. And I was blown away that the hotel was so aware of the craziness that was going on in these hotel rooms that he would book under his alias

that they actually had notes in a file with his alias name about what to do, how to deal with all the craziness, including spraying air freshener in the hallways because of the smells that were coming out of the room, the fact that they had to shut down the room closed. close it down for reservations after they left because they knew they would have to do a deep clean.

I mean, the details just go on and on, but these were physical notes written in a computer so that the next hotel employee who dealt with Diddy and his gang knew how to manage it. And yet none of us knew what was going on. And yet so many people were aware of what was actually happening.

It looked like he was going into a James Dean audition. Like, he really was channeling that casual, cool, I don't give an F as he was walking in. And like, the cigarette, that had to be a choice, right? Or did he just really need a smoke before he walked in because he was nervous?

Yeah, so Cassie and Diddy, apparently, even though they were broken up, were still apparently freaking off. That actually was news to me as well. But he's going through her phone because he had access to everything that was hers and saw email from Kid Cudi's assistant asking about Cassie's toiletry bag.

they might be setting up a way to prove it in that there was someone else there. Did he, according to Cuddy and what we may hear next week, a woman who was his assistant at the time who we're expecting to be on the stand on Tuesday. Her name's Capricorn. Hard to forget that name, but she apparently was there, too.

So perhaps we will hear from her corroborating what we heard from Kid Cuddy that, yeah, Diddy and his folks were there and they opened up his Christmas presents, like unwrapped them, locked his dog up. So he was very upset about all of that. And of course,

That's right, because actually when he said that in the courtroom... from the people who were there inside, said the audience or the folks in the courtroom laughed. They were chuckling at what he said, but there was really nothing funny about what he was describing because he went to go meet him to try and deal with all of this back and forth and to stop any more threats or potential violence.

Just, yes, we're hearing about the physical violence and the threats, but there was just a physical intimidation.
