If they can do it in a theater improv, they can do it on the yard.

And they do.

And they realize, they come to us with these incredible statements like, you know, I didn't realize until I took this class that I have been wearing a mask on the yard for the last 20 years.

The mask is anger.

That's the way, that's the emotion of survival in a prison.

the anger face, the face that says, I will kill you if you approach me.

And in this class, they realize, I am more than that.

I'm more than my anger.

I have these other emotions.

And for the first time in 20 years, I've been able to laugh like a giddy fool because I'm playing a character.

To speak candidly on behalf of the panel, Mr. Guiteau, you seem to us a liar and a fraud.

We fail to see how you've served as anything more than a drain on good society.

Hell, under the right conditions, he might even be made president.
