Games. Wink wink. Nudge nudge. What?
No, I'm talking about like... Fucking perverts? No, like... Games.
Yeah, absolutely. So in August, the end of August, Blessing and I went to Japan for the Astro Bot event. But we also had the pleasure of talking to and meeting Kojima, which was an incredible experience.
And part of the thing that we did is we gave Kojima, everyone at the office chose an album or a movie or just a piece of art that we really loved to show to Kojima and give a little gift for doing the intro to our spare bedroom.
But it was sick. Kojima would say that. He would say that. He would say that in an American accent.
Yeah, it was through a translator. Yeah, I mean, there were some things that I could tell when we were saying he understood a little bit.
Did you hear what Mike gave to him?
oh there it is oh my god he's brought it out so uh well that one was really really quick but the challengers one was really great and he uh uh talking about how cool kojima is he's so sick where he he got the uh the challengers and he was very excited because they didn't sell it in japan he was trying to get you trying to get blu-ray couldn't get it and then he says oh my friend did the music for that movie and i'm like bro your friend your friend trent resner like you can't like that's insane that you're just calling them in front that's awesome
This is Mike. This is what Mike gave to Kojima. It was Snowbike Mike Goes Big. It is an actual DVD of him doing snowbiking back in the day. And this is one of those early YouTube videos where he's just doing extreme sports and he's smoking weed and Wiz Khalifa's in the background. It's just the stupidest video in the world. And he burned a DVD and gave it to Kojima.
Yeah, it's legit.
Yeah, it really is. And it was incredible. And how did Kojima react to that? We have the video somewhere.
But it was incredible because that was the one where he... that was the first time we saw him laugh he just started laughing hysterically and then he opened it up and then he saw it was just a burn DVD that just had Snowbike Mike DVD is what it said on it just on Sharpie and then he just was like shaking his head he's like what is this I mean that's one of a kind though I mean that's oh yeah
We ended up selling that on Patreon. But the cool story about this is that I ended up giving him an album. Do you think he ever put that in his DVD player and watched it?
Okay, so we tried it in a DVD player? Yeah. So it works on Xbox, but I mean, you know, he has PlayStations.
Oh, yeah, absolutely. It suited most of our gifts, probably. But the one that I gave him was an album by Carawan. When you gave it to him... Is it like this? No, we had a whole box and we had like, um, little, like we, we gift wrapped this, we made this like legit as hell.
And I also made like little, uh, notes from each of us that like had like these little envelopes that said like, Hey, here's the reason why, you know, we chose this for you.
And so, and your gift was, yeah, it was, uh, Caroline Polachek's album. She's an amazing artist. Everyone lists up, listen to Caroline Polachek. Uh, and the, uh, album album was desire. I want to turn into you. Is she a big name? I've never heard of her. She's big, but big in the indie sphere. If you're a pop girly, you know her. Everyone knows her in that sphere.
But outside of that, it's pretty small. I picked this album because I was like, man, I know that this is his type of music. And I know specifically, she's a gorgeous woman and she's a model. And I know that she's going to become his muse.
Yeah, he's going to be obsessed. So I chose this album specifically because it has her on the cover. And I was like, if I give this to him and I say, hey, Kojima, you listen to this. He might be interested in it. So that was one of the first ones in the box. I think I made sure to put it at the top because I was I was good. I was putting together the box.
I was like, you know, let's see what he says. So I put it. And how did he react? So he went through all of them. He kind of ignored it at first. He just went through and he was looking through the rest of it. He was very excited to see all these gifts. He wanted to see everything. Nick gave him Die Hard. He was very excited about Die Hard. So he's going through that high.
And then he goes through it a second time. He's looking through all of them at the ending. And then he picks up my album again, the Caroline album. And I say to him, hey, Kojima, you would really like this one specifically. He kind of looks at it. And then just kind of puts it away immediately. So I'm like, okay, that's the end of it, right?
And then the next day or two days later, he then posts that he's listening to that album. I'm like, oh shit. I'm like, that's exciting. And then two days later, no, three days later, when we came back from Japan, he posts a long thing saying like, hey, Roger from Kinda Funny gave me this album and I loved it so much that I went and bought her previous album.
And then over the next few weeks, they started meeting on Zoom. And then they met on Zoom again. And then they met on Zoom again. And then now, finally, they're here in Paris together. And I think that this is the beginning of something beautiful.
It has to be something big. It has to be maybe OD or maybe even, was it Fizint? That's the...
And they go out of their way to come to Kojima's place and go to his studio and take the photo in the white background. The reason why I think this is more, and I know this is more than just a little thing. First things first, he went to Paris to meet her. That's crazy. That's wild. Like, this man never leaves the office. He's just grinding on DS2.
The fact that he left to just meet her, it seems like, is crazy. But two, he did a podcast recently where he has this, like, radio show. I don't know if you're aware of this.
Yeah, he does a radio show where he's, like, actually introducing and, like, showing music that he's listening to. And I translated it, of course, from Japanese to English, doing the auto-translate. But, like, from what I can gather, he did say, like, oh, he's like, oh, we've been talking. We've met on Zoom multiple times.
And then someone asked him, his co-host said, so what are you guys working on? He's like, it's secret. So they are working on something. It is confirmed. And that is, it's very exciting. And I, I hope it is like going crazy. Like I hope it is OD cause I did write in that note to do an amazing main theme for OD, but I, it is probably a death stream.
We got, we got to make it happen. Just a little special thing. Just a little bit. Just say Roger Bricorny or you can just say the guy from kind of funny. I'm done with it.
Yeah, no, it's awesome. So, you know, I got her the bag, so hopefully I get like 1% of it.
I think we all know what the fucking big loser was. That's a big winner for us. Big success on patreon.com.
Yes. Someone sent a screenshot when this was all popping off where she was talking about collaborations that she would want to do in the video game sphere. She's like, I'm not a big gamer, but she did mention Kojima specifically.
30.
No, you are overselling this. There's no way. There's no shot. Five? Yeah, I think five is about right.
And I know after the last few months of me having to explain this to everyone in my family, an immediate circle of like, who's Kojima? Oh, do you know Death Stranding? No, do you know Metal Gear?
On this Target, like a creep with a camera, be like, oh, excuse me, do you know who Kojima is?
To call the company you work for a vibe.
I know you were like, how do I say this? Oh my gosh. You're scouting all the vendors. You're like, which is the one that I should ask?
Sorry, I didn't mean to lump us into Gen Z. Don't you look at me and call me Gen Z. No, I didn't mean that.
Oh, that's a good, that's a good way to go.
Have you seen the ones that like quit? Cause they get so angry.
I would totally watch that.
And if you're streaming it, that's a tax write-off if you lose. Think about that.
That's how taxes work.
Not real financial advice. Really quick about the esports thing. My brother used to be a... He was a semi-pro CSGO player. I've seen this motherfucker. His mouse is going like this. He's going all over the place. So it's kind of physically intensive.
Yeah, because aren't you supposed to stay still in that game? Aren't you supposed to be like... Well, no. He had his sensitivity really low, and then he would move around like this. And then he also had a, he would make his screen like a square screen, and then like stretch it out, like the resolution, so then he could see the heads a little bigger. Jesus Christ.
99.
Not barely, actually. Yeah, I'm firmly Gen Z, but, like, 99, I wish I was 2000, you know what I mean?
So that I could, like, fully be.
Four generations.
