They also threatened to come back and kill Amy and Bruce's young daughter, Jacqueline, if anyone ever found out the truth. She needed to keep this a secret. He's saying, hey, intruders broke in, tied me up, murdered him and then told me to cover it up or else they would come back and kill me.
