I'm from around Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which is right in the middle. And the topic I have is ice machines. So I know you did an episode on ice. So either ice part two or ice machines. I work for a company that sells restaurant equipment and I'm in the procurement department. So I purchase commercial ice machines for us to sell to restaurants or whoever.

if you only start thinking about the ice, you probably think it's crazy how many I buy. Um, like there's all kinds of different brands. And like, like you said, you see them in hotels and things like gas stations, like on top of the soda machine.

But a lot of them, you don't even see cause they're in the back of the house and then they're just using the ice to refill their bins and for all the drinks and whatever for customers. Um, So I've been doing it for about three years now. And I buy like hundreds and hundreds of ice machines, especially over the summer because it gets hot and then they break.

No, we do have, um, I mean, it's mainly commercial cause we sell to restaurants or businesses. So like, I don't have anything, but we do have some that are like little pool doors, like a mini refrigerator that you can like put under a counter that you can get like per residential.

I mean, I feel like just the basics... people don't really pay attention because they don't care enough to like the type of ice because there's like full cube, half cube nugget. Like there's different kinds.

So nugget is like what you get on one, like out of a little dispenser and like hospitals use them a lot because patients chew on the soft ice because it's softer. like if they want something different that kind of soaks up the drink a little bit more or something fancy because there are like gourmet cubes that some people make that it looks like a little top hat or like fancy drinks at a bar or something.

I feel like we've been selling a little bit less lately, but there's also, it's like if people want to buy an ice machine, that's $3,000 or like with how the market and everything is right now.

Yeah. But we're always selling ice machines because everybody needs ice. They use it everywhere. Customers always want ice. So we're always selling plenty.

No, I don't think I really did. But like now, I mean, everything that we sell, like I just look around for it at every restaurant we go to. Like, oh, Duncan uses half cube ice. But before, no, I didn't think about it. Now I pay attention to it everywhere.

I mean, for ones at home, there's ones like I was saying, like a little, It's just called a little pool door. It's like a mini refrigerator, but you can put it under your counter if you have an at-home bar. Besides that, it's mainly commercial that we purchase, so you don't need a four-foot-wide ice machine to make a ton of ice.

I think hospitals have some of the dispensers too, that it's probably like two by three. You can put it on the countertop and you can get ones that make just ice or ice and water. And then it like dispenses it for you too.

Let's take a listen to our question. Hi, Michelle and Craig. My name is Madeline, and I'm 28 years old. Last year, my dad passed away after a two-year fight with cancer. He was just 57. My parents were still together and happily married when he died. And I have two brothers that I'm pretty close with. My family was always very tight-knit and enjoyed each other's company. We had no major issues.

That said, I was especially close with my dad. My brothers had a good relationship with him, but for me, my dad was my guy. We were very similar people. He was also loved by so many other people. And spending time with him was so easy and felt like home. He was basically the number one person I would not have wanted to lose.

I never had a bad relationship with my mom, but we've had a harder time finding our footing since my dad died. And I think because she had a mom who never fully encouraged her independence, and she married my dad when she was so young, losing him really was like having a rug pulled from under her. My brothers and I were especially surprised when she started dating so shortly after he died.

She seemed like she was distracting herself rather than grieving him or grieving with us. In the meantime, I've never felt further apart from my brothers. I thought we might talk more after this happened, not less. But it's like we're intentionally keeping our distance. They're also both married and have partners they can talk about this with. I'm single and suddenly feel even more alone.

It's like I've gone from someone with one of the best families to being someone without much of a family at all. I never really imagined my dad's death could so swiftly destabilize our entire family structure. How could losing the same person we all loved have created such a powerful wedge among us? How can I begin to feel less alone among them in my grief?
