I have the origins, before you ask, of Up to Snuff. Wow. Because it's a ridiculous thing to say. What is the snuff that we're up to? It originated in the early 19th century in England. Initially it referred to someone being sharper or where, with snuff referring to finely ground tobacco that people would inhale through their noses.
