Many members of his church apparently expected their pastor to reject Scripture's authority on those subjects. Also, we need to talk about proof texting. It is possible to justify, or dispute, any theological position by cherry picking Bible quotes completely out of context. We'll talk about why that is a dangerous thing to do, and where it leads.
