You're not worried about whether they could do CPR or whether they can actually put out a fire or whether they can pick you up if you're incapacitated and carry you out of a burning building. Instead, the most important thing is the appearance of the firefighter, meaning their skin color and gender. And the LAPD sergeant agrees with that.
