This is the Hamilton phenomenon all over again. It's yet another occasion for rich New York elites to feel virtuous by applauding mediocrity in the name of social justice. And above all else, the reason this whole farce is so galling is that we used to expect just a certain amount of decorum and dignity and seriousness from people who hold important positions in government.
