So you go back to the 40s and 50s, the first 15 years of the league. The league, by the time we got to 1954, the league was in complete chaos. The pace was too slow. There was no shot clock. People were just fouling each other, trying to dribble out the clock. George Mikan was dominating everything, and the league kind of sucked. And then they came up with a shot clock. That fixed some of it.
