You guys have to go through a priest to have God forgive your sins? Well, no, but that's how Jesus set it up when he said to his apostles, receive the Holy Spirit. Those whose sins you forgive are forgiven. Those whose sins you hold bound are held bound. Jesus set it up this way. But also, think about baptism. No one in the history of Christianity has ever baptized themselves.
