So the great awokening is basically when racial attitudes amongst college educated whites basically flipped on its head. There are a variety of reasons why this happened. I really believe that Ta-Nehisi Coates' case for reparations in The Atlantic is one of those. It radicalized an entire generation of basically like white college educated women to think completely differently on race.
