Rene Morkos is a builder. When he was younger, his Dad told him that he could study anything he wanted, as long as it wasn't Civil Engineering. So... that is exactly what he did. He has built amazing things all over the world, and also, obtained his PhD at Stanford. Outside of technology, he likes to alternate hobbies, and has currently settled into Mountaineering, after spending some time doing Kite Surfing.Rene was in Afghanistan working on a project, trying to repair the runway that had been struck by RPG's. He was struck by how hard it was to find the optimal way to do a simple project.
