Derek then went back and forth between upstairs and downstairs again, just like what he said in his confession. He was down in the kitchen, then he left, then he came back again. At one point, Jennifer hit Derek and he went upstairs again. Now, I'm guessing that that's when he grabbed the gun, because when he came down again, that's when he shot Jennifer.
