So I'm preparing for my final piece. I have been inspired by Hundertwasser, the artist, and also Black Ada. And I've chosen my theme, which is garden, for my project in general. I have experimented with smashing flowers.

Yes. So onto a page... into my sketchbook. I've hammered it onto the paper. Really to create the effect, see what happens.

Yeah, so I wasn't sure how vibrant the colours would be or even if it would really work. And I've even gone as far as to make dyes with my flowers that I used to paint with those dyes and create the flowers that I have made the dyes from.

Yes. So I have another portfolio. I am basically given a series of themes I can choose from, and I chose garden. And so this portfolio is just filled with different kinds of garden work.

So I submit it to Katie Beth over there, and she goes through it and marks it for me. I have come up with all of these ideas with my amazing tutor, Kirsten, who has definitely been an amazing support to me, and I couldn't have done it without her, or the team at Inner Art here. Katie Firth has been absolutely amazing.

I have some special access requirements that I do for my exam and Katie Firth has been phenomenal in making sure that the centre knows about this and finding all different ways to help me through my exam.

It has to have a lot of precision, obviously. my artwork isn't very precise but I really enjoy the freedom of it and Kirsten, my tutor especially, encourages me to be as free with it as possible to explore all of my opportunities and I really appreciate that because I'm quite a perfectionist and Kirsten really helps me to explore and to use all of my different abilities.

Definitely. It's definitely something that you really need to use your brain for. I know you need to use your brain for everything. But you need to be able to think outside of the box and really choose things that maybe other people wouldn't even think about or may even think impossible. And really explore that. And maybe it is impossible, but maybe you can't do it.

But even so, you need to try and you need to explore different methods, different techniques. and eventually you will create something. It may be not the thing that you originally wanted to create but it is art. Art can be whatever you want it to be. Here I really feel I can be myself and I can be free and I can explore all of my different abilities.
